1 Updates and News on 25/10/14, 09:23 pm

Removed the rule that you must first ask permission to go on a job when multiple people are in your party. Replaced with the following explanation:

The normal rule is that in order to complete a job, you must have an equal Character rank to the job rank. Therefore, D-Tier characters can only take D-Tier jobs, C-Tier characters can take C-Tier and below jobs, B-Tiers can take B-Tier and below jobs etc etc. The exception to this rule is if you go on a job with multiple others. So long as the added character rank between all the characters taking the job meets or exceeds the rank of the job, it is fine for that group to take the job. 2 D-Tiers can take a C-Tier job. 4 D-Tiers can take a B-Tier job. 2 C-Tiers can take a B-Tier job. etc. etc. Players have the option of taking the jobs that are already made or to create their own.

*Any job that is turned in that doesn't meet the equal rank requirements will be considered void, no matter how well written or how long the job is.

Explained how Moderators and Administrators grade Specializations, (here is a link for it):

When training Specializations, it should be IC trained over a period of time. While it is fine to learn and train an ability in one day, Specialization Training should be done over the course of a few days IC to better show the progression of your character. A week or two has generally been accepted up to this point in time.

Explained how to create jobs and what is expected of them, as well as updated the requirements for posting in a job thread. The change is copy/pasted below, from the following link:

http://magiworld.forumotion.com/t2454-job-system#11668

-Any Ability used by yourself or an NPC, and any Normal Attack that inflicted damage, must use the bold tags in your post.

Jobs:

Creating custom jobs has changed slightly. A ruling on the minimum amount of damage necessary to be in a C-Tier or higher job has been reduced to 2x the rank level from 4x.

ITEMS

Due to inconsistencies in item creation over the generations of moderators, all magic tools currently in circulation will be undergoing modifications to balance them all. If this effects your decision on wanting the item, we will issue a full refund of the purchase price.

Social Abilities

Along with your normal abilities intended for combat, you also have 15 slots of “social” abilities. These abilities will cost no magoi or stamina to execute. These abilities cannot be used for combat in any way, shape or form. (This includes being used as distractions, blocking mechanisms or in any other fashion.) These are simply intended to give you a wider range of social capabilities. These abilities will follow the normal guidelines for their specialization and will need to go through approval. However, these abilities will not require training. These are simply abilities intended to enhance your role-playing experience.

*Important Note: If at any time these abilities are used for combat purposes, the job they are used in will be considered void!*

Magic Systems

Intelligence users are no longer restricted to using the type across the magic wheel for their secondary magic type. This will allow for a larger option of combinations and more creativity in how Magicians can use their craft.

Stealth and Weaponry

Due to a staff error, Stealth specialization allowed the use of magic-imbued weapons at B-tier. This was a mistake and has been removed.

Stealth and Dexterity Ammunition Guidelines:
With the introduction of Stealth having Ranged weapons as well, the staff has revisited the Ammunition Guidelines. In order to make everything more streamlined, we will be using the same guidelines for Stealth as we do Dexterity. Going back over the guidelines, we determined that a few things should be changed.

Stealth will soon also be receiving an ammunition limit that is based off of the same ammunition limit as Dexterity.

Changes are as follows, and will be updated shortly:

Old Guidelines:
Ammunition

Outside of actual techniques which cost Magoi and/or Stamina, Dexterity users have the upperhand in the sense that they can fire off long-ranged attacks without paying a cost. There are several things to note about regular pieces of ammunition:

  • You have a limited amount depending on your Dexterity Spec rank.
  • Ammunition cannot have any other uses other than applying simple damage. Eg. No trapping, smoke bombs, etc.
  • After your ammo stock is depleted in your topic, you cannot use anymore ammunition for the rest of that topic. Ammunition replenishes once you enter a new topic.
  • Ammunition varies depending on the weapon type. Bows shoot arrows. Crossbows shoot bolts. Slings throw rocks, etc.
  • A given piece of ammunition does damage equivalent to a rank below the weapon. Eg. An A-Tier bow can fire off 25 B-Tiered arrows outside of techniques and abilities.
  • Ammunition moves at 10m/s (regardless of damage tier) and is not affected by the "5m/s boost" of Dexterity users. That boost only pertains to abilities which take up slots. The maximum distance ammunition can travel is 50m.
  • Ammunition can be broken by D-Tiered attacks regardless of rank.

*Important Note - All Dexterity Abilities MUST be long-ranged. Ammunition rules do not apply to abilities. Ammunition used in close range (under 5m) will deal only D-tier damage.

Training Ability Tutorial

As there was no mention of what the training procedures entailed, I have edited in the instructions on how to go about the approval process for training. For any who are still confused on the process, let the staff know so that they can work out any necessary edits.

New information:

First, you must post your new abilities to be reviewed for approval here. This is to make sure that your abilities follow all guidelines.

Once your new abilities have been approved, the topic will be moved from that part of the forum, to another part of the forum. This part is called the 'Approved For Training' section, which can be found here.

Once you have finished training an ability, you will need to post a link to the post that you began the training in. This link should be posted within the topic you had your ability approved at, which had been moved to the 'Approved For Training' section. Once all abilities in that topic have been trained, it will be moved to the 'Trained Abilities' section of the forum found here.

Training an ability has a different standard than training a specialization. The wordcount can be met through a variety of means, including the process of developing character plot. Not every part of the wordcount needs to be directly related to the ability itself. Ex.: You are visiting a friend and go out to the market to get something to eat. On the way, you are attacked by a mugger. You have already met the wordcount requirements for the ability, so as the mugger attacks you, you decide to use an ability (the ability you are training) that you have 'been working on' or that you 'instinctively grasp, from a moment of inspiration'.

At the same time, it is more than acceptable to write only about the ability itself in order to meet the wordcount for the ability training. Everything from training the muscle memory of your body, down to the movements and agility needed to perform those movements.

Wordcounts cannot merge with other wordcounts. This means that you must have a distinction in where the word count for the ability starts and ends. The most popular method used is dedicating the post to the ability. Another method is using the
Code:
[hr]
to split a post into multiple parts. Any ability trained in a post must be used in that post, and should be bolded so that those who are grading it can see when and where the ability was used.

UPDATE TO GENERAL SITE RULES:

As we strive to provide a friendly, welcoming environment to all members, we have a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY regarding behavior that falls under the following headings: Harassment, intentional annoyance, instigating a fight, repeated instances of negativity, bullying and blatant rudeness. If someone lodges a complaint regarding your behavior, you will be given only one verbal/written warning. If another complaint is lodged, your warning bar will be docked again and you will be permanently banned from the chat box.

If you have a personal difference with a player, please keep your issues with them to Private Message or outside messaging services. If you have an IC issue with another character, feel free to message staff about the issue. If you feel you are being harassed, bullied or negatively targeted, please contact staff via Private Message ASAP with evidence to support your claim, as well as any steps you have already taken to resolve the matter privately, so that we may address the issue as quickly as possible with as much information as possible.

Effective 31/12/2014 (today) a player may only set up 5 abilities to be approved for training, per topic. This is to make the abilities easier, and by extension faster, to grade by cutting out walls of ability text. Yes, you may make a second topic after the first for another set of 5 abilities if you have more.

Updated Magoi Manipulation to include what is affected by the techniques.
Magoi Manipulation techniques treat defenses as if they were 1 rank lower in comparison to the technique itself. This applies to Borgs, defensive abilities and items. This does not apply to dominance beasts.

Due to recent inquiries regarding pulling items from inactive members, we have decided to make an official policy regarding this.

We will not be removing items from inactive members. This includes mounts, magical tools, ruler gems and metal vessels. Any future NPCs will be able to obtain Djinn through dungeons not available to Player Characters.

Coliseum Rules Update (Sorry, should have been posted on Saturday)

Any NPC fights must be B-tier or lower. All fights of A-tier and higher must be between players, aside from the Reim Omega-tier opponent.

This is due to staff already being stretched thin with plot events occurring and incoming. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Update:

Under the scale description for each class in the Ability Guidelines thread, it is now clear that scale does not extend the range of an ability.
Scale does not extend the range of an ability.

Updated the Speed Buff description in the Ability Guidelines to include burrowing for Strength users with Magoi Manipulation or Manipulators.
Speed buffs affect only one method of movement (General, Swimming, Burrow) per ability. If burrowing, you may stay underground for as long as you can hold your breath (2 posts for human, 4 posts for Imuchakk) before passing out and dying.

Updated the Training Beast description in the Specialization Systems thread.
When training a beast to a higher tier, the focus should be similar to Specialization training and focus on the beast gaining power, whether that is through strength, utility, or awakening actives/passives.
