1Hungry Hyenas [Job/Solo] Empty Hungry Hyenas [Job/Solo] on 20/07/17, 10:38 am

Merari walked with the Desert Prophet in hand, the golden staff's usual radiance dimmed by the total lack of sunlight. The Magician wasn't quite sure how he got to the back road, but he did know that if it wasn't for the damn job he had picked, he wouldn't be in this certain predicament. But he hadn't learned the Flight Spell, and he didn't trust any Wind Spell enough to keep him in the air and prevent him from going splat on the ground below.

It was a rather sad predicament, really. He was lost in gods' know where seeing how utterly big the Plains could be. It didn't help that the lands were desolate and almost empty save for some farmlands. His hair was starting to get messy, and despite the cool breeze, Merari could feel himself sweat beneath his robes. It'll be fun cleaning his outfit later on, he was "sure" of it.

And the worst thing about it was the fact that it was pitch black. The moon offered little light for Merari as he trekked along the road. He wasn't an Orange Magician, so he couldn't even try to create light for himself. All he could do was squint in the darkness and try to look through it all. At least he had Borg in case something snuck up on him, yeah?

Shaking the thoughts from his head, the ash-haired boy shook his head and sighed. Looking ahead of him now, a peculiar sound caught his attention. It was a harsh noise, unpleasant on the ears but faint as the wind blew against it. Straining his ears, the Magician stepped towards the direction of where the sounds seemed to be traveling from. With a start, Merari realized that it was screaming, ragged as it would pause.

Tightening his grip on his new staff, Merari debated on leaving as quickly as possible or just plunging in. With a shake of his head, the Magician hastened forwards, the wand in his grip raised in preparation to cast a spell. Whoever was screaming could be of later help, be it supplies or just assisting him in getting out of the Plains, and it wasn't like he was on a schedule.

As he closened, the screams became higher in pitch as other noises accompanied it. Low barking and growls as a figure in the darkness raced in his direction. "Oi! Get out of the way!" Merari ordered as he swung the Desert Prophet. The figure promptly dived aside and to the ground just as he then yelled, "Canon!"

The Rukh shot forwards in a bang, hitting a creature dead on. It made a whine, not unlike a dog, before seemingly collapsing in a heap. The remaining three of the pack howled as the spotted Merari. One raced out of ranks, heading straight towards the Magician with teeth bared. Merari then realized that he was fighting Hyenas, and not actual dogs or wolves. He wasn't sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing, but he did know that they were meant to be scavengers, not hunters.

The beast was much faster than Merari was, and with ease, it jumped in the air towards Merari, fangs bared for a Bite. But the Magician was quick to protect himself, calling upon the Borg. The golden shield flared to life, the Magoi behind the defense bringing a dim light to the area before cracks splintered across it. The hyena had dead center smashed into the shield and stumbled back with a bark. The creature shook its head before opening its maw to reveal rotten but sharp teeth. His Borg, sustaining too many cracks and damage to it, shattered, leaving Merari in the open.

Not wishing to see what would happen if those canines sunk into his soft and fragile skin, Merari waved Desert Prophet in the hyena's direct, the circle movement tracing a circle in the air. At the yell of, Iesar!", winds screamed into life. The drafts quickly swirled around the mutt, trapping it in razor winds and tearing at its skin. The Hyena was left with nothing to do, trapped in the cyclone of Magic till it had eventually picked it off.

The two remaining foes had realized that up against such a being that they had no chance. Rukh fluttered around the boy, black butterflies mixed in with the shining golden ones as Merari lifted his staff, the word of Huja resting on the tip of his tongue. It would be the first time he used the "spell", and he was eager to see what it would do to the dogs. His eyes tried to watch them the best he could in the darkness, a dark amusement lingering within the ruby depths.

Funneling his Magoi into the wand, another cyclone was summoned by Merari. But its swirling winds were much dangerous than those conjured by Iesar, something evident as his attack swarmed at the Hyenas. The moment that the winds touched the retreating form of one, it exploded. The second, who had made the mistake of staying with his companion, was dragged into the spell as the cyclone grew. It was taller than many builders Merari had seen in his life, but the view disappointed him. He wished to see what Huja would do against a human foe. To see the water being sucked out of either Magician or Goi, as they writhe on the ground, dehydrated and confused beyond measure as they were killed.

More black Rukh fluttered around Merari as his eyes narrowed, licking his lips at the thought of the Kuraba trapped within the winds brought forth by the Desert Prophet. His grip tightened on the staff, his head lowering as the boy scolded himself for getting lost in his thoughts.

"Sir?" The word brought Merari's gaze to the trembling girl who shakily got to her feet. There were some wounds on her form, and as she took a moment to recollect herself, the Magician replaced his expression with a kinder one. "Thank you so much..." The young Goi mumbled, uncertain as she turned her green eyes upon the boy in question, "Is there anything I can do to repay you? M-My family has a farm not too far from here,"

Merari's eyes lit up as his smile curled, but he was careful to keep it free of any smirk. His head nodded as he stepped in the girl's direction, carefully grabbing her hand and steadying her, "A night's rest on a bed would be extremely generous. A look at a map in the morning would be greatly appreciated as well."
