It has now been a bit over two months since Ustad and roommates had started a grueling process of construction. Well, to be more on the nose, it had been 2 months since Bandit Chieftain Marx had started construction on the massive wall from manpower he had taken forcefully. Now it was not as bad as one would expect, working for a party of bandits as their unwilling labor force. They were not beat and fed well, given several breaks throughout the day and even full days of rest. Now this was because they were needed in prime condition so that work would not come to a halt but also because of the bandit Chieftain Marx.

Marx was apparently a former soldier of Riem before deserting with a small group of other soldiers and formed their own part of bandits and thieves in the plains. They are still murderers and villains but they have a sort of code that they follow no matter the hypocrisy of it. They were focused on fighting more so than thieving, looting the corpses of the slain. This was due to their militaristic background but also because they enjoy combat and the slaughters of those who could fight. They left a fair share of orphans and widows but would not kill those that could not fight properly. They were slowly turning from being typical raiders and bandits to trying to become a more legitimate business, albeit one that is still mired in crim and forcing people to hand over money.

This was the reason behind the construction of a wall that splits the plains in half. It gives them control of flow through the trade routes on land and will establish a sort of pseudo nation within and around the wall itself that they will make a continued profit on. Marx didn't want to become a king or ruler but walls give a sense of safety so it makes sense that given a few years people will gather in and near the wall. That was part of the plan however. People will flock to safety and pay for it as well as a sense of comradery. This wall will bring immense wealth and fame to Marx and his band.

Now they were continuing construction once more after another extended period for resting. The construction for the wall had gone on relatively smoothly and by this point it would not be long till they hit the quarter mark perhaps. Of course this was wishful thinking since even at its shortest width, it would take weeks or months even to cross from coast to coast, let alone build a wall. Realistically they weren't even an eighth of the way done. This is a project that would take years if not decades even with the accelerated process from the use of Ustad, Josser, and Dasom and their tools and skills. That is if everything goes well and to the letter. But in all reality they were building a massive barrier through ancient lands of tribes here and will block trade routes or even separate said tribes.

It was early in the morning when the first guests of the wall had arrived. The workers were in the midst of a breakfast consisting of sausage from a boar the bandits had caught a few days prior. These visitors were natives or factions that lived in this region that would be affected by the continued construction of this great wall. The first, a fellow bandit captain was concerned about the impact on their flow of money and slaves. Needing man power Marx made a deal with them and the new band was absorbed into Marx’s.

Then there were some merchant leaders that had heard about the construction and came to see it for themselves. These merchants saw the idea of a wall, even a smaller one as a benefit. There aren't really many respits that they can rest or hold up in when needed. To these few people this wall would serve as a sanctuary at the halfway point between the nations on either end of the continent. Given time there could possibly even be cities built around this wall that they could use to sell and trade goods sooner, on their way to another nation. A little extra cost for passing through the wall was worth it to them. Now of course this was just half a dozen or so of merchant groups so they clearly didn't speak for all merchants that use the plains but they could handle those that refused or didn't like the plans. I'm fact these few that were already showing support were even willing to provide financial support and give them supplies and transport them for the band. This was super beneficial to the both of them so Marx of course had taken the deal, eager to make connections.

The visitors a few days later were a big change of pace from the previous ones. They were emissaries from tribes in the southern region of the plains where they were currently in the process of construction. This meeting was not observed by Ustad and the others but it was clear that it had not ended well. There has been shouting and they left afterwards. It was clear that they had not liked the idea of wall on the land that was roamed by their ancestors. This would not be the last they heard surely.

The next morning a dead falcon was pinned to the entrance of the bandit Captain's tent. This was a declaration of violence against the bandits and those that worked for them, regardless of how willing they were. Of course this fact was hidden from the workers for the moment. Although, Marx would gather the few that showed leadership and made great work in the construction. Amongst these were Ustad, the lease Architect, Josser the Sculptor and Dasom the painter. There were three others as well but they are not yet important to this story. Their message from Marx was short and clear. Conflict was coming for the construction of the wall.
