Job Description:

Levi wandered through the Academy’s corridors. He just had had a few courses today which ended early, giving him some free time. Surprisingly, he had no chores to do today, putting him in a somewhat unusual situation. The young magician spent most of the time recently studying, so having free time was an unusual feat for him. He could meet some friends, of course, but there were no people Levi would yet call so. He met a few fellow students in his classes, had some simple chit chat so far; however, none of these students really arose Levi’s interest. Wearing one of his usual black robes, his blonde hair regularly hindering his eye sight, Levi kept on walking through the Academy ground. After a while, he found a large group of students standing in front of a board. To be more precise, they all stood in front of a Job Board, giving Levi an idea what he could do today for he needed money to live to begin with. Without much hesitation, he inspected the different tasks available and grabbed a job that looked interesting. As it seemed, the city’s library needed assistance, a Job the student could like.

A few moments later, Levi reached and entered the library. He took a look around and was immediately impressed by the sheer amount of books already present in the entering section. How many would he find in the different stories? While he slowly walked near the reception to start his duty, he gained some worries of what he was doing. Hopefully, he had not to refill multiple stories today; this would probably take ages to accomplish. When he found a person that looked competent, he introduced himself. ”Hello, I’m supposed to help you with the sorting of the books today. My name is Levi and I am quite new in the academy, are there any principals I have to follow?” He was told to go behind the reception and to start with sorting the books. While doing so, Levi received a first introduction in how far the system with ordering the books in this library works. When he looked at the staple of books he had to sort and distribute, Levi was positive not to need ages to finish this task.

After Levi was told what his tasks were today and how he should sort the books, the young magician quickly started his job. The sooner he was done, the more time he would have left of the day. At first, he inspected the different books and started to sort them according to their themes and the stories they belonged to. Luckily, all had a clear signature which should facilitate his work immensely. After he had sorted the different books, he placed them on a wagon so that he could transport them more easily. Finally, he invested some more minutes to plan his route as good as possible. Even though he had doubts that he would find every bookshelf immediately, he wanted to not waste unnecessary time. Why should they have given him a map of the library to begin with? A newbie like Levi would otherwise be lost in this building for sure.

Upon entering the first level, Levi was immediately impressed by the sheer amount of books. If he thought about the fact that 30 such stories existed, he lost some of his will to work and instead to read as many books as possible. He could not believe that any human being would be able to achieve this goal; and this was precisely what fascinated him. However, he had some work to do and enjoyment had to wait. He moved the wagon as quietly as possible to not disturb his fellow students in their studies and walked towards the first shelve. Luckily, the signatures were consistent and he was able to quickly fill the empty spaces. While walking through the corridors, he found multiple books lying around that students forgot to put back, a task Levi completed. To reach the top of some shelves required the usage of ladders, for he yet missed the appropriate magic to help him otherwise. After a while, many of the books were properly stored, soon allowing the student to finish the job.

Levi had only a few books left and thus tried to hurry to finish his job. He walked near the last few bookshelves on his plan, climbed the ladder and stored the books were they belonged. When he was done, he checked if he missed any books and after he was sure that this was not the case, attempted to go back. He had done the work he was told to, achieved slightly more than what he was told to, so he should be fine to go. On his way back, the young assistant librarian found a few other books students forgot to put back or scratch paper they did not throw away. He took care of this, but did not pay too much attention as he did earlier. His work was done. After talking to some supervisor at the reception, he soon had his money and was ready to leave. ”I clearly need some suitable magic to make such task easier, I guess”, he mumbled quietly while leaving the library.
