Commander Natsuki Yamamoto rode at the head of the troops intended for Ostia. Behind her, five thousand horses kicked up dust and caused a thunder and quake in the ground, the other troops walking on foot with the supplies necessary to maintain their troops. They had been riding hard for about two hours, but they would not need the horses once they arrived. Ostia came into sight and Natsuki gave a vicious grin. She could see that the Kou forces already there were being beaten back steadily, but her men were ready for blood. Giving her horse a solid dig, she held on as the mare took off at a dead sprint, the troops behind following suit as their Commander led them into battle as she moved to flank the men on the carpet. With a loud shout, she addressed the archers when they were within 30 meters of the battling soldiers.

“TARGET THE CARPET!”

Each of the archers had bow capable of dealing A-tier damage, each with a piercing shot that would travel at 40 m/s. If the men did not move and quickly, they would find themselves amidst a rain of arrows within the second.

Garret jumped up and joined Azix on the carpet, nodding to Apollo and Bahir as they joined as well. He kept an eye out on the battle below, shouting when they were over their own allies, explaining that they had won and defeated the commander. The group shouted and exploded in strength. There were certainly deaths on the Reim side of things, approximately a third of them having lost their lives; yet the results were devastating. Close to forty Kou soldiers had died in action, while the Reim soldiers had lost about sixteen men. These numbers, of course, included the sixteen that the Commander strike force had taken out, giving the Reim soldiers around twenty or so slain opponents.

But now came the toughest part; retreating. The soldiers no longer had a commander, that much was certain, yet they were still veteran soldiers nonetheless. Garrets shouts inflamed their allies, and they immediately surged with all their strength to break the remaining spirits of those Kou soldiers still standing line. With their commander down, the Kou soldiers began to make a fighting retreat. Yet Natsume joined the battle, and the Kou forces re-bolstered their attack, pressing forward just as the Fanalis began to retreat. The results were devastating as ten Reim soldiers were killed with stab wounds. The Fanalis army was routed, and everyone began a full sprint away from the opponents.

Natsume's soldiers came forward and brought their bows up to aim. "Everyone! Form a line behind me!" Garret took rear-guard and raised his shield up, executing and sustaining a General's Block while angling it towards the oncoming arrows. Not all arrows would strike directly down the center, yet there were some that would make it there. His shield would protect from some of the damage, and a Veteran's Block would be sustained as well if his first line of defense fell to the opponent's barrage.

Bahir made his way onto the carpet immediately following Garret. His movements were a bit slower than earlier. He was trying to ease his mind, causing his adrenaline to fade in the process. Thanks to this, the young fanalis spy felt a stinging sensation in his left side and felt weaker than before. In confusion, Bahir looked down to see the gash that was left on him from one of the Kou soldiers. The fanalis mentally cursed and threw his head back. "Fuckin' great!" Despite his efforts to keep his cursing in his mind, it found a way into the air for all of the strike force to hear. Embarrassment washed over the young spy-turned-soldier and he perked his head back up for a moment as his ears twitched.

There were sounds that his ears picked up on that unsettled him. Horses. LOTS of horses. They seemed to be approaching the Reim defense force and approaching fast. The spy turned his head to look that why and saw flags in the distance. "W-what...?" It was the first time since they were on the field that Bahir's overtook him. He could feel his lower body get cold and the worst case scenario thoughts filled his mind. Luckily, Garret reacted in time, saying for those on the carpet to get behind him in a straight line. Bahir nodded and moved over, resting his back against Garret's, just enough for him to be completely behind him, but not enough to put any kind of pushing force against the man. Worst... timing.. ever!"

The earth rumbled from the thunderous hooves of five thousand galloping warhorses, drawing Azix's attention. The Kou reinforcements had arrived and they didn't look like they meant to play nice. When he saw arrows start to fly, Azix launched the carpet forward at top speed in the opposite direction of their trajectory. While flying, he adjusted his position to get in line with Garret, hoping to avoid any stray arrows penetrating him. In less than a second, the group on the carpet would be out of the arrows effective range. Azix hoped Avitus and his men would be fine on their own, it was kind of selfish for three magicians to just charge off, leaving comrades behind.

Regardless, it would do no good to get sucked into that death trap, so Azix swallowed his desire to stay and fight. Streaking across the sky, the orange magician drove the carpet back to Remano where they could report on the reinforcements. Immediately upon arrival in the Capital, Azix turned his carpet for Octavius' outpost where he would tell the Fanalis General waht they had encountered.

And sure enough, the 7K troops rode in. Though, it looked to be a little less than 7,000 Kou soldiers. Regardless, things didn't look too good at this point. Thankfully retreat was underway with the carpet going as fast as it seemed to be able to go. Arrows were launched and the man that shouted the retreat got his shield in front of Zadi's view, prompting Zadi to shift backwards on the carpet to allow for the man to do what he intended to do. However, the arrows didn't make it far enough as the carpet increased its height, prompting Zadi to metaphorically wet himself. Such heights without a gravity spell made Zadi quiver in fear of falling.

"Put-us-back-down, put-us-back-down, put-us-back-down! I'd rather take an arrow to the knee than suffer fall damage!"

It wasn't long until the army of 7,000 or so looked like tiny ants kicking up huge amounts of dirt. Zadi got used to the enormous height, too. Unfortunately, Zadi felt a little regret for being unable to help the impaled Fanalis on the group as they tried to run from the Kou army. A good number of them made it, but as said before, those that were impaled were not so lucky. Looking at the sheer difference in numbers, Zadi felt like this battle was a loss rather than a "strategic win". Sure the Commander of the 100 was dead along with almost half of the 100, but there were still the entirety of the 7,000 left with the Reim forces retreating. The point is, Zadi felt disappointed by the outcome. The cherub didn't last long enough, the weapon equip was useless, and none of Zadi's magic could reach the massive army in hopes of plowing them down.

Commander Natsuki growled as the carpet rose out of targeting range and she took her anger out on the Fanalis she was riding into. Her men had dismounted, wading into the fray with swords swinging as they slaughtered anyone slow enough to be caught. Natsuki had her sights set on the man leading the charge, running her horse forward to catch up to the man before she took off his head, flinging it towards the carpet that was becoming a smaller and smaller dot in frustration.

“COWARDS!”

The Reim group had at least minimized civilian deaths by evacuating the town and would be able to report the additional troops to Octavius. When the fighting came to a stop, Natsuki gave a sharp whistle, three of her officers surrounding her.

“Split the troops up into four groups, each group will take a different approach to Remano. I will meet up with Kaito to see if he has a better strategy. Keep your orb-holders alive, as that is how messages will be sent. Go!”

The officers were quick to follow her orders, equally fearful and respectful of the woman. Of all of Kaito’s trusted Commanders, she was the most terrifying, by far, her tastes suited to the General’s perfectly. Bloodthirsty and relentless, she would make the rest of the group pay when they next met in battle.

Bahir let out a sigh of relief as he felt the carpet speed up and noticed that they were raising altitude. They were outside of range of the arrows now and somewhat safe. Now they just needed to make it back to Remano to warn Octavius of the impending forces heading towards the capitol. The young fanalis closed his eyes, letting the relief wash over his being. It was an odd, yet fuzzy feeling. He could say, not proudly, that he survived his first encounter. However, the thought of his dead kinsmen lingered, bearing down on his conscience. This... I... I have to keep going. Their deaths won't be in vain... I just know it... His thoughts were proud and more secure than his actual feelings. He wasn't sure how this war would turn out for Reim and the Fanalis race. He did know that he would be back in Remano soon, however. Though... not in the highest of spirits.

Everyone was out of range or everything. The Kou soldiers couldn't shoot down the carpet, the magicians couldn't plow down the Kou soldiers, and the 7K Commander was at her wits end, to some degree. She seemed to stop, but after that Zadi couldn't tell. She was too far away to discern any sort of actions. Zadi looked up and around the carpet towards the people on it. The "pilot" Azix did a good job. The shield-man could have done well if given the chance. The mysterious guy who Zadi didn't know anything about was calm, much like Zadi, though a little more so. Zadi was still afraid that the carpet would run out of "juice" to put it lightly. Crashing would suck at such an enormous altitude. For now though, Zadi just thought of other things such as meeting Octavius or Avitus again. Those two seemed to dislike Apollo very much and being around someone that dislikes you brings tension to any conversation, either for one or both sides.
