Tahl's light footsteps echoed against the stone tiles that made up the streets. He had just spent a few hours inside of the barracks with Avon conversing with the old man about the adventures he had with his father. A yawn escaped his lips as he stretched his limbs; his body still rang with energy despite the lively conversation he had. Unsure as to where he should possibly turn to relieve himself of the abunding energy, he could only possibly thing of one thing to do.

With his mind empty of any possible destination, he traversed aimlessly through the streets. His ears caught the sounds of shopkeeps trying to persuade those to come and spend their coin; others spoke of their own daily lives. His eyes caught the sights of children playing about in the streets and a young woman who looked here and there; she seemed lost in the huge city. Upon getting closer to the woman, he could make out more of the woman.

The woman had long auburn hair which she wore in a long ponytail that stopped at her back. Hazel eyes frantically darted around while she spun around, causing her hair to pick up from the wind. He raised a brow in suspicion at the letter she held in her hand tightly. Her grip appeared to be tight enough to keep it from being snatched from her hand, but not enough to crease the paper.

Putting on his usual friendly smile as he stepped close enough, Tahl cleared his throat and spoke,"Excuse me ma'am, but you appear to be lost. Is everything okay?"  The woman turned her head to him and dazzled him with a wide smile much similar to his own.
"Thank goodness,"She shouted happily,"I didn't believe that anyone would at least stop to help me out." Brushing at the apron that covered her blue dress, she bowed her head before introducing herself.
She began,"Well my name is Maria. I was told to give this letter to a Mr. Shaw but was never told where I could find him. I just know that I could find him somewhere in Reim. I have searched for quite some time, but still haven't found him. Perhaps you may know where he lives?"

Placing his hand under his chin, Tahl thought back to any chances when he heard of the name, but nothing could come to him. A heavy sigh came from his lips followed by a shrug of his shoulders.
He apologised,"No, I don't know who this Mr. Shaw could possibly be. I don't think a man with that name could be living here." When he spoke the words, he noticed a look of defeat and dismay appear on her face.
"T-that isn't to say that he's not here,"He quickly added to retract his previous statement. He placed a hand on her shoulder and shot her another warm smile.
"I am sure Mr. Shaw is somewhere around here. Let's just go and look for him,"He encouraged. Maria glanced up towards him and nodded her head with her eyes burning with newfound determination.
"Let's do it,"She said with enthusiasm.

Tahl and Maria stepped through the streets of Reim. They passed by many shops and people, stopping occasionally to ask if anyone knew of the man named Mr. Shaw. After what felt like hours in a wide circle, the two took a break in their search to gain some rest in a market. Resting in the shade of trees with their backs against the wall, their eyes gazed out at the blur of people that walked past them.

The male's eyes turned away from the crowd and looked down towards the letter that Maria still clutched tightly in her hands.
Without realising he opened his mouth,"What is that letter?" She teared her eyes away from the crowd and looked back towards Tahl, giving an exhausted smile.
"It's nothing,"She answered while stretching out her arms and curling her toes,"Just a letter for Mr. Shaw. Why do you ask?"
He shrugged his shoulders,"I just wondered what made the letter so important. I apologise for prying so much." She dismayed his worry with a wave of her hand before pulling herself away from the wall.
She dusted at the back of her dress and only said,"Let's keep going. We've rested enough."

Tahl admired her attitude for wanting to keep continuing and hopped up, not bothering to wipe the dust from his own clothing. The due continued walking through the streets. They spoke with everyone they could, seeing if they could find any answeres as to where Mr. Shaw could possibly be. Hours passed once again and it soon began to get dark. Less people were seen and the night light seemed to have dulled everyone's senses. The two let out a conjoined sigh as the last person they spoke to, an elderly woman, told them she never heard of such a person.
"Looks like he doesn't exist,"Maria mumbled. Tahl looked down and gave her shoulder a light nudge.
"Come now. I'm sure we will find him,"He spoke with light encouragement.

Turning his eyes away from her, he couldn't see anyone else in the streets. His heart sank as he thought the idea of looking for this man was for naught. That was however, until he spotted a group of men turning a corner and walking towards them. With a happy smile, Tahl walked over to them with his arms spread wide as if he was about to hug them.
"Grettings gentlemen! I was wondering if you two would possibly know about-"He cut himself short and jumped back just in time to dodge a cut from a dagger.

The men all leered over him with evil grins smeared across their faces.
"I'm not surprised you fools hadn't noticed,"One of them spoke, tossing the dagger back and forth in their hands,"But we have been following you two around for a while. We know what's in the letter and we can't allow you to turn that over to Mr. Shaw. So..if you would be so kind and just hand it over we won't cut you too bad." The others around him chuckled and kept their grins on their face, tightening up the grip on the hilts of their daggers. Tahl glanced back towards Maria who seemed to be stepping back away from the group, clutching onto the letter tightly.
Turning back to the group, Tahl shook his head and responded,"I'm sorry, but I don't believe I am at liberty to do that. You can try all you want though~"

The theives then all charged forward with frightening speed. Tahl blocked their attacks as best he could, barely managing to pull out Streaker when they charged towards him. He pushed back hard using the hilt of his blade and stood at the ready, putting enough distance between them and Maria. Tahl glanced back for a brief moment to ensure she was all right before charging in to attack again. The theif in front of him raised his dagger to attack, but Tahl quickly changed direction of his step and sliced sideways, cutting the male's side and causing him to fall. He turned direction; swinging his blade vertically as he swiped at the next. Just as he turned for the third time, he heard Maria scream. One of the theives stood in front of her, his weapon poised to attack.

Tahl shouted at the male as he threw Streaker towards him,"Don't you even think about it!" The blade pierced through the male's light clothing, causing him to topple down on his knees. Now weaponless, Tahl raised his guard up as the other two circled around him. They both grinned at him wildly and charged at him from both sides. He waited just until the right moment to duck, causing their blades to crash against each other before punching them hard in their guts.

As the two toppled over one another, the Halfling let out a heavy sigh before turning to Maria. He gave her a thumbs up as he walked over to her and pulled his sword from the thief's back, sliding it into its hilt with ease. Maria gave her a smile of relief that he was seemingly uninjured just before the quiet sounds of clapping could be heard coming from a distance.

Turning to the source of the sound, a short portly male revealed himself from the shadows. He was dressed in an extravagent robe and sandles with spectacles sitting just at the bridge of his nose.
"Marvelous, marvelous!,"He shouted as he approached the two. Placing his hands on Tahl's forearm, he nodded before turning to Maria.
The woman stared at the man and then down at the letter before asked,"Mr.Shaw, I presume?"
With raised brows the portly male responded,"The one and only. Now, do you have what I asked?" Nodding her head, Maria handed him the letter she had been holding onto for dear life. Mr. Shaw examined the letter and walked around her in a quick circle, making sure nothing was wrong with her.
"Well...everything is in order,"He mentioned. Turning to Tahl, he smiled at him again; stepping closer and filling his hand with a fistful of gold.
"Your services were well needed my boy. Thank you,"He spoke.

Tahl opened his mouth to speak, but only closed it to nod. He watched as Mr. Shaw turned away from him and placed an arm around Maria's shoulder, walking away with her into the night leaving Tahl standing there. His mind still did wonder what the letter could have possibly entailed, but he figured it would be for another day. Now feeling tired from his long day, he started walking the streets, returning to his hotel room to obtain well deserved sleep.
