The Opponent:

"Fwouuuu...you got this Zadi. Breath in and breath out. Breath in and back out. Fwouuuuu...ready Syma? Hiss hiss? Agree! Let's kick butt and take names! WOOOHOOOO!!!"

With his Metal Vessel safely locked away in the barracks of the Coliseum and his new wand, Red Rose, in his left sleeve of his pink kimono, Zadi walked out onto the battlegrounds of the Coliseum of Reim! Zadi kept screaming in order to psych up the crowd...and himself. The crowd did what it normally did, unfazed by Zadi's whooping. That was probably due to his first appearance in any sort of battling event. Sort of. There was this one other time, but it was insignificant as it was a job that Zadi had taken interest in a while ago. Anyway, Zadi was trying to pump himself up more because he didn't want to be too nervous...and die trying to claim some reputation and experience. He's thought things over about dungeons and the injuries that he's kept sustaining time and time again and just put his foot down about it all. The Coliseum would be Zadi's greatest training session EVER!!! Or his graveyard. Pretty much the same thing~

Zadi had emerged from one gate, expecting another gate to hold his opponent. Zadi didn't really know anything about his opponent other than being a semi-famous archer of sorts. There was probably information given about Zadi to his opponent such as being a wizard that captured a dungeon. However, no matter what his opponent would be like, Zadi would keep his distance, but not too far since his greatest range spell only has 40 meters of range. Not that great compared to an archer or an advanced mage. Zadi walked up and eventually stopped whooping. He stopped whooping and walked once he got to 50 meters away from his gate which would be 100 meters from the other gate. The Coliseum was a rather big place, mostly due to the sheer dimensions of the battlegrounds. After stopping, he then waited for his opponent with Syma around Zadi's shoulders and Zadi's arms in his sleeves, gripping his Red Rose wand.

As Zadi made his appearance, so too did Aquillia. The woman had two quivers, one on her back and one on her hip. The quiver on her right hip had a single arrow fitted into it.  There was a short dagger on her left hip, one that had seen use. The woman had striking looks, though there was an underlying edge of danger about her. Her clothing was close-fitted, yet looked to be stretchy. It was obvious that it provided room for flexible movements.

Aquillia was also a new participant of the Coliseum, and not many cheers were made. Instead, there was a sense of tension in the air; while not a coliseum normal, she had made a name for herself as a mercenary in skirmishes on the Western Front. The crowd was excited, and wanted to see what would come from this fight.

When she saw that Zadi had approached and stopped 50 meters after his advance, she too approached until 50 meters from her door. There were now 50 meters between the two. She pulled out Ifrit with her left hand, and an arrow with her right, but did not yet nock her arrow.

A horn blew, signalling the start of their match.

With practiced speed, Aquillia began running to the left, keeping an eye on Zadi. It was her goal to keep a decent distance, 30-50 meters, between herself and her opponent, and feel out what Zadi's style was. She shot an arrow aimed toward his chest, to see what he would do.

OOC:

For this match, I'll be play testing a style for running combat. You may post as you like, but in my posts I will:

1) Italicize anything that uses the system rules, including basic stats and other combat information.
2) Bold any weapons or techniques.
3) Underline any attacks made to you.

Techniques that are aimed to harm you will be bold and underlined. I might miss some things in italics, but mainly because they don't seem too important to me for combat information. Feel free to use anything you can when you read the posts. I'm just adding this in here to make her actions a bit more defined.

Zadi's opponent had arrived. It looked to be a female with an athletic build..but seriously, who wouldn't have an athletic build when it came to Coliseum matches? Zadi...that's who. He was lean, but not build-looking. He was athletic to some degree with all the dungeon stuff every now and again, but he used magic...so yeah, no real physical uniqueness to say the least. He was average at best. Anyway, Aquillia, Zadi's opponent, got out her bow and a single arrow. Zadi was on guard with his feet planted, knees slightly bent in case he would have to get out of the way of an arrow or some other speeding object. Zadi's now official plan of action would be to dodge any and all incoming attacks while either forcing his way in or forcing Aquillia's way in. The closer she would fire her arrows, the less time would be given for Zadi to react. However, the closer Zadi was, the better it would be for him as well. On the other hand, Zadi wanted Aquillia to run out of arrow sometime soon. That was Zadi's actual plan...cowardice!

After a horn to indicate the start of a Coliseum match was blown, Aquillia started to run to her left while firing off an arrow at a vague speed. Due to the distance between Zadi and Aquillia, all Zadi had to do was notice the bow go up, sidestep half a meter to his right at 6 m/s using burst speed, and watch an arrow pass by the corner of his right eye, missing Zadi's chest. Zadi kept his eyes on Aquillia, waiting for more arrows to be fired...

OOC: Unless you are an NPC with special movement rules, or are being buffed through some form of magoi manipulation/magic spell, the speed you start out with as a human is a jogging speed at 2.5m/s. You cannot start out running at 6 m/s, and cannot use the running movement as a burst speed. However, the 2.5 m/s is good enough to dodge the arrow nicely.

My apologies, I forgot to add in the speed of the arrow previously. It was simply 10 m/s. I'll remember to do so in the future.

Actually, now that I've tested it in a post, I don't like doing the bold/italics. It makes things hard to read. I'm nixing it.

BIC:

Aquillia nocked another arrow into her bow even as the first one was in flight. She watched as Zadi dodged to his right, though the man did not move. Aquillia determined this was due to one of two things. The first of which was that the man was a ranged fighter, like herself. He still hadn't shown his hand, so she didn't know what kind of ranges he was good at fighting with. The second possibility was that the man was confident, and didn't believe there was much she could do to make him move from the spot. She was going to try to prove him wrong.

Aquillia continued running, attempting to circle around Zadi. As she ran, she spiraled her movement slightly inward, attempting to close the distance between the two to approximately 30 meters. When she had run a half circle, she would attempt to fire another arrow at Zadi from 30 meters away at 10m/s, aiming at his left eye. This, however, was just the first attack. After the shot was let loose, Aquillia had nocked four more arrows into her bow. While the first shot was aimed at head level, Aquillia's new attack was a Multi-Shot infused with heat magic from Ifrit's Explosive Arrows, which traveled towards him at 30 m/s. Three of the arrows flew to spots that, at the time, Zadi did not occupy: Zadi's right, by 3.5 meters, primed for 1.1 seconds. Zadi's right, by 1.5 meters,  primed for 1.2 seconds. Zadi's left, by 3.5 meters, primed for 1 second. Only one of these arrows were actually aimed at Zadi, which flew towards his chest, and was primed for .9 seconds.

Zadi successfully dodged one attack, but noticed that Aquillia was getting more into focus. To Zadi, this meant she was getting closer. He kept his eyes on her as she was running around him, also seeing she had another arrow notched. Since she was getting closer, Zadi activated his Gravity Lift technique. He didn't fly just yet as it would be harder to dodge something while he himself was moving, too. Therefore, Zadi waited until Aquillia shot another arrow. He easily dodged it by taking off at 15 m/s towards his right, slightly angled to where he would end up being 5 meters closer to Aquillia upon reaching 15 meters away from his old position. Zadi wouldn't stop which also let him dodge two more arrows that blew up moments after being dodged. Zadi only slightly noticed a single explosion in the corner of his left eye, but knew that something was up with those arrows. They were faster, so Zadi felt more threatened, prompting him to charge his Kthyr Alyzr technique when he reached 15 meters away from his old position, firing off half a second later with Zadi 7.5 meters from his original position. 20 lasers were grouped together and fired off two meters in front of Zadi, aimed for Aquillia's knees. The single grouping would deal A-tier damage in the form of cutting and, if any skin was torn off, cauterizing damage. After the laser grouping fired off, Zadi stopped, now around 22-23 meters from his old position. Zadi had been moving in a straight line since he first took off with his Gravity Lift spell. Snake still on shoulders. Hands and wand still concealed.

At the sight of the explosions, and Zadi's sudden movement across the ground, the tension burst and the crowd began to cheer. Everyone there was excited to see what would happen next. Zadi's opponent, Aquillia, did not take any time to acknowledge the crowd, as she was too focused on their fight. Immediately as Zadi zipped past her arrows, she knew that his movements were not natural.

She saw the man zipping closer towards her, though at an angle. He had dodged her Explosive Arrows from before, though they had left half a meter of destruction into the ground of the coliseum, and a faint cloud of smoke from the dust and debris.

Believing that he was closing the gap between the two in order to make good on an attack, Aquillia attempted to keep an eye on the distance between the two of them, and was ready to jump back at a moments notice. Her gut told her that he was dangerous, and she immediately took the arrow out of Zeph and nocked it.

She watched as he backtracked after the explosion to her arrows, and he was about seven to eight meters away from his original position before a strange light charged up in front of him. The charging of that attack, coupled with his movements earlier, confirmed for her that the man was in fact a magician, though she as of yet didn't know what he was capable of. As he began strafing back towards the right, she let loose the arrow. It was her Grand Explosion arrow that she had let loose, which flew forward at 30 m/s. As she let this arrow loose, she watched as Zadi's technique finished charging and the two techniques came to intercept each other only 7m away from Zadi's position. She quickly jumped backwards at 4m/s, knowing that the arrow wasn't going to explode at a good time, and just made it out of the blast radius as the explosion blew Zadi's laser beam up. Her time spent as a ranger had made her quite agile, which she was thankful for.

Luckily, for Zadi, the strength of the laser caused the explosion to take a different route: upwards and downwards, mostly, though a bit more went back. The explosion was quite large, and Zadi could likely figure that normally the diameter of the attack was about twenty meters. Just as before, with the lesser explosions, this explosion caused quite a bit of damage to the ground. The smoke from the dirt and debris made seeing through that 20 meter area difficult, and there was a decent sized hole in the ground.

The coliseum keepers would have their work cut out for them at the end of the match.

Aquillia moved, circling around the smokescreen to about 18 meters from where Zadi was standing originally. Another arrow was already set in her second quiver, Zeph, and one other arrow was knocked for use. She continued to back up a bit, trying to keep approximately 30-40 meters between where she last knew he was and where she was at the time. She kept an eye on the surroundings; not just through the smoke, but above and to the sides as well.

Less than a moment after firing off his laser, Zadi saw a large collision between an explosion and his laser...well, it more looked like an arrow blowing up after touching his laser, but with his laser being so big, Zadi couldn't know any better. However, this explosion was slightly canceled out by Zadi's laser, so Zadi only had to back up a few meters to get out of the way of the excess of the explosion. Zadi assumed that the explosion could have been much worse for him if his laser hadn't done what it did. It saved Zadi's life, but cost him a good chunk of his magoi.

The explosion not only caused damage to the Coliseum but also created a huge cloud of dust and debris that was nigh impossible to see through. Syma and her Infrared Vision couldn't make out shapes through the cloud either, however, she could still sense faint vibrations in the air using her Vibration Sensitivity. Zadi knew that it would help to use the cloud while using Syma as a guide to see past the cloud and at most 20 meters around for as long as the cloud stayed up. Zadi promptly flew into the cloud at 10 m/s. His new position was within what seemed to be the thickest part of the cloud, the center. Zadi tapped Syma for an answer as to what significant movements there may be either within the cloud or around it up to 20 meters away from Syma.

As it turned out, Aquillia seemed gusty enough to get closer to Zadi's old position. Zadi didn't know exactly how far away she was, but close enough for Syma to detect her movements, specifically Aquillia's movements backwards and away from Zadi. Zadi felt the rukh of the dust, dirt, and sand exactly 20 meters away from him in Aquillia's direction, making sure to only infuse them with force, not moving them until Syma indicated that Aquillia was undetectable. If Aquillia moved out of range, that meant she was just outside 20 meters. With the correct angle, Zadi could end up hitting Aquillia with his Ball spell at a random location dealing B-tier blunt damage.

According to Syma, Aquillia was only a moment away from becoming undetectable. This was indicated through Syma's scales rattling. Only a short moment later did the rattling stop, prompting Zadi to instantly create his Ball spell on the ground, angling a forward shot away from Zadi towards what Syma had indicated Aquillia's direction to be. The ball moved at 20 m/s at a 45 degree angle with a chance to deal B-tier blunt damage if impact were made. Zadi didn't know when or what would happen as he was unable to see through the cloud, so this was all up to chance right now~

Aquillia had continued to move, keeping an eye out on the smoke and around it. She had no idea that Zadi was tracking her movements, and was unaware of the spell he had cast within the smokescreen. She was still within his snake's senses until just a moment later, having reached her destination without seeing sight of Zadi.

Her destination was the hole in the ground made from the attack she had made earlier. It was just deep enough for her to crouch into while keeping an eye on things above ground.

She abruptly stopped, having moved far enough, just as Zadi's attack went off. Had she still been moving, she certainly would have been struck by the technique. As she was at that moment, however, she didn't even see the technique go by behind her. The crowd let out an 'Oooooooh!' as it missed her, and she did feel a breeze go by her back as she jumped into the explosive-made ditch, but did not know what she had narrowly missed. She readied four arrows onto her bow, keeping low and peeking out towards the smokescreen. It was beginning to lift. The question she asked herself was whether or not her opponent was hiding inside the small crater left behind, or if he was near an edge.

She was now approximately 22-23 meters from Zadi.

OOC:
If anyone is wondering, Zadi and I determined whether or not his blind attack would hit her together in a fair 50/50 chance check. I didn't dodge it "just because." The attack was certainly clever, and had a slight risk, but a good reward were it successful.

Smokescreen is gone next time I post. You can still use it in your post, and launch an attack from within if you would like to, but it's starting to dissipate and if you remain inside of it at the end of your post you will be visible. You should be able to see faint outlines of the field if you are at ground level, but from where you are right now, the smoke is too thick to see her where she's at.

OOC: What Proxy said is 100% true~

"Shucks...the crowd went 'oooh' and not 'woohoo'. Must mean I was close...but no dice! Ah well, it was a risk, but at least I know she could still be there~"

Zadi's self-reflection aside, he really was close to having hit Aquillia. However, due to chance and certain circumstances...such as the large dust and debris cloud being in the way though also protecting Zadi to some degree...Zadi had missed his attack using his Ball spell combined with Syma's senses, BUT Zadi wouldn't give up! His Ball spell had reached its maximum range of 30 meters away from Zadi, now floating in mid-air behind the unsuspecting Aquillia...as far as Zadi hoped. He REALLY hoped for that to be true. He knew it wasn't destroyed, so either Aquillia had cold-feet, which was unlikely, or Aquillia didn't noticed the ball, also unlikely yet more possible.

Zadi's continued struggle continued as he flew up at 10 m/s, reaching just above the 10 meter tall cloud. He made sure to angle himself to stay within range of his Ball spell. He looked down and scanned for Aquillia in the same direction Syma last detected Aquillia. Luckily for Zadi, she was in a ditch, facing opposite his Ball spell. She could probably see Zadi right now, but Zadi was happy to know that she didn't notice the Ball spell...maybe. He assumed that she went into the ditch just before the Ball spell was created and shot towards her general direction, making her unaware that Zadi's little spell existed. Within an instant, Zadi made a plan! He started to fly above the smokescreen, most likely visible to Aquillia, at 2.5 m/s towards Aquillia's horizontal direction.

Zadi kept an eye on Aquillia and the Ball spell, both within his eyesight. While doing so, he would hopefully distract Aquillia in some way. However, whether she noticed him or not was not of Zadi's concern as Zadi prompted his Ball to try and strike Aquillia a few times at 20 m/s, specifically three. One to deal damage, another to cripple, and a third in case something went wrong with the first two hits. A fourth would be excessive seeing as the situation could change without any prior warning. The strikes would be the head as that was the most accurate area to strike seeing as Aquillia might still be in the ditch as Zadi does the attack. Also, it is tougher to react to a second hit if the first was to the back of the head.

Aquillia was, in fact, unaware of the Ball spell Zadi had used in an attempt to attack her previously. She kept an eye out for the man, and noticed as he came up and over the smoke from the center, flying. She figured the man was able to do so; in her travels on the Western Front, she had had to fight magicians there as well.

The man continued to approach her spot, and she believed he could see her fairly easily, especially from his vantage. It was at this point that Zadi had sent the ball towards her head, and she simultaneously stood up and shot forward her arrows, once again attempting to strike him with her Multi Shot + Explosive Arrows combination. Two went to Zadi's left, one at 8 meters to his left, primed for 1 second, another at 4 meters, primed for .95 seconds. A third one was headed straight for him, primed for .9 seconds. The last one was headed 4 meters to his right, primed for .75 seconds.

Just after she had let loose the arrows, which moved at 30m/s, a ball that was aimed towards her head not a moment before slammed into her back and knocked her forward. She quickly nocked a special arrow onto her bow, and targeted the ball with her Arrow Shockwave, destroying it in the process. The crowd cheered wildly as the first damage had been dealt.

The time it took her to do that, her arrows had already met their destination. Whether it did any damage to the man or not, however, she would have to survey.

A rib or two of hers were broken, and she started going on the move, though she did so in pain, while watching out for Zadi. She simply wanted to be on the move, as standing still would me defeat.

Zadi watched closely as Aquillia fired off four notched arrows in his direction. However, the moment she pointed the arrows in Zadi's direction, he moved 10 meters at 10 m/s, 8.5 m/s faster than he was already going. Since the arrows had to move at an upward angle, Zadi passed over them, also missing the explosions, only barely though. He kept his Ball spell going, successfully hitting Aquillia in her right-side. Unfortunately for Zadi's Ball spell, Aquillia had successfully distracted Zadi with the four arrows, destroying the Ball spell after only getting the chance to strike once.

After having dodged the arrows while the Ball spell was being destroyed, Zadi activated his Weight Increase spell so as to hunder Aquillia's movements. Weight Increase was only usable if hit by a Strength Magic spell of Zadi's due to lingering force from a Strength Magic impact which Zadi had the ability to take advantage of using, well, the Weight Increase technique. Rather useful against quick opponents.

So yeah, after Aquillia started to move, Zadi instantly increased the force of gravity of Aquillia, the "object" hit by Zadi's Strength magic spell, Ball. Hopefully Aquillia wasn't super strong, otherwise Weight Increase would have been a waste. Either which way, Zadi slowed down to 1 m/s, still heading towards the horizontal position of Aquillia. Zadi wanted to stay close in order to keep within his spell's range while also not getting too close in case Aquillia had something up her sleeves...well, "quivers" in this case.

Zadi's Weight Increase spell was indeed effective at restraining Aquillia. She was strong from her mercenary work. Strong enough that the full effects of the spell were resisted. However she was not strong enough to resist it completely. This, coupled with the fact that there was a throbbing pain on her right hand side, meant that there was no way that she could move under the influence of Zadi's current spell. Looking towards Zadi, she did what any other self-respecting individual would do when backed into a corner; barred her teeth and let loose.

An arrow came flying towards Zadi, who was 10 m away, at 30 m/s. A second arrow whistled through the air as it was fired right after that, moving at the same pace. Once the first arrow got within .4 meters of where Zadi was, a huge explosion much like the one before, occurred. She had fired off her Grand Explosion arrow towards him at first, followed by an Arrow Shockwave, which was swallowed up by the explosion before it could reach where Zadi was originally. The explosion would expand at a rate of 30 m/s, covering a 20 meter diameter; that diameter would easily reach her...

Zadi was confident that Aquillia couldn't move as he had successfully made it close to right above Aquillia. However, Aquillia was stronger than she looked, catching Zadi by surprise when she was able to lift her bow and point it at Zadi. Zadi couldn't properly react in time. The explosion dealt A-tier burns and bruises, leaving Zadi kicking, but barely able to move aside from sustaining his spells. Zadi made sure not to lose his concentration on his Gravity Lift and Weight Increase spells so that Aquillia couldn't run away from Zadi...much less her own attack. Aquillia's second arrow was swallowed up in the explosion as well, however, Zadi never knew it existed in the first place.

All the same, Zadi sustained major burns and bruises. Zadi's wand was protected by his left arm with a little help from the kimono, not necessarily lessening the damage to the arm though. Syma was unable to shield herself using Zadi in time, also taking the same amount of damage as Zadi. Zadi didn't know what just happened, but he knew he was still alive and keeping down Aquillia...unless she had mustered even greater strength...

"FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- THAT HURTS!!!" he thought to himself.

OOC: Yes, the snake is dead according to these rules.

If you would like to revive your beast, please follow the following rules here.
IC:

The crowd went silent, no, the entire world went silent as the explosion expanded and engulfed Zadi and Syma. Unknown to Zadi, Aquillia had fired off her Arrow Shockwave in order to mitigate the collateral damage that came back to her. The flames were too strong, however, and engulfed her as well.

The woman screamed out in pain. A strange tension took place in the stadium. This was no longer an entertaining day at the coliseum, but a deadly affair. Soon, her screams stopped. She was unconscious, due to the sheer pain the 2nd degree burns caused.

The dust settled and cleared, and Zadi's body was also found on the ground. Zadi and Syma were covered in 3rd degree burns, having been at ground zero of the explosion, which completely engulfed them both. While he had valiantly fought until the end, attempting to maintain his spells even as he fought against the pain and destruction caused by the explosion, his body was unable to withstand the damage.

The entire crowd was silent for what seemed like an eternity before suddenly a large amount of noise was generated. Screaming from the horrified spectators, as well as heated discussions about what had just occurred drowned out the noise of the medics that were trying to communicate with each other as they ran out to the place and carried the two out of the stadium to attempt to provide emergency medical assistance.

The mercenary, unconscious, was weakly muttering a soldier's mantra. "Kill or be killed." If she were in good health, it would be apparent that she was having a nightmare in her unconscious state, however that was something no observer would be able to determine.

Zadi's death, while not the first in the coliseum history, was a grave reminder to the spectators of the sport's origin, as well as a reminder as to how deadly the fights truly were. It had been some time since a death had occurred in the coliseum.

OOC:
I had to run this through extensively with Yaku in order to determine the appropriate outcome. While my body doesn't like looking at the burns, as they are truly terrifying, if you have any wonders about how the damage was able to kill you, you should google image search '3rd degree burns' and imagine them being all over your body.

Luckily, a death in the coliseum only has a cost of 10 magoi/stamina instead of the normal 20 a death would cause, and there are no PCs here to steal your stuff~

Coliseum outcome:
Zadi: Dead
Aquillia: Unconscious with severe wounds (B tier blunt damage to her right ribs, B tier second degree burns to the front of her body). Scars will develop if she survives.
