Once again the magician and the sumo were on their way to yet another shikizui related occurrence. This time they were heading to the battle field against the same clan that they had fought with just a few days ago. Normally the old man would not want to get caught up in such a trifling matter. However, Silva was trying to build the relations between the Hinamoto, his clan, and the Shikizui clan. In doing this, the bond between the two clan may end up being strengthened. Also normally in situations like these there are normally a scratching of backs scenario involved. So he may end up getting something as a small reward for all of this help once everything is over.
As they traveled the old man would think to himself why he is doing all of this. Why was he even in this country. When he had first arrived to this country he still viewed himself as an assassin, taker of lives. But since than he had a huge change of heart. He had found that he was no longer the person that he once was and that losing his memories was a chance to start his life back over. He had thought about how he enjoyed teaching and molding the new generations. He thought it would be nice to protect and mold the future of this world and perhaps even gain power through those that he trains. So he was starting with Shou, the middle aged sumo who helped him realize that this was the correct path for him. So now he was trying to get his start here by finding students to train and help them achieve their goals instead of trying to achieve goals of his own.
They would walk over a hill to see a disturbing picture on the other side of it. Occupying a large field was a small battle between two opposing forces. Both clans had sent out troops but they were both small in numbers compared to actual wars and such. Occasionally you would be able to notice a body or two scattered throughout the field. The field itself was a ghost of what it had once been. the crops that were once there were now unrecognizable as they had been trampled into the earth that was muddied by blood. It did look like as if it was a painting as all of the warriors seemed to be frozen in time as the duo watched them. It was clear even from the distance that the enemy clan had the upper hand at the moment. The shiki seemed to have underestimated their opponents and did not send nearly as many samurai as they should had. The few samurai that were left were greatly outnumbered by their opposing clan. Used to battles like this would have made than former assassin smile but now he just thought about the lives lost for what was probably some kind of pointless reasoning. After all that was what most battles were, especially when the country was fractured into so many independent groups. Perhaps Silva should try to have all of the clans unite as one. That way all of the separate resources could be combined and improved as they all work together. For right now all of these clans had great things such as samurai, magic and so on. But if they were to combined they could become a great power with all of this together. This is something he would have to think about more later.
The battle would begin to die down as the sun has set. This was to give the armies time to regroup and recover till their next confrontation. During this time they would be able to eat and sleep as the samurai would not be so low as to attack the enemy as they rest. This is when Silva and shou would walk up to the encampment that housed the Shikizui clansmen. Weary faces would look as they see the two newcomers walk up to them. Was that is? Was this all the help that the Hinamoto was sending for their allies the Shikizui? An old man and a massive man perhaps a bit pass his prime. They would snarl in disgust as they go back to eating. It was quiet in the camp besides the sounds of eating. It was as if they were just waiting for their bodies to fall into their graves. However, there were two young samurai that were excited two see these two newcomers arrive. Shou would recognize them as the recruits he has become friends with and sparred together with numerous amount of times. HE would hug them excited to see that they were alive. Yet, why were there only two of them instead of three? Where was the 3rd recruit? As they were catching up the recruits would relay what had happened the past couple of days. After the small attack on the shikizui fortress that had happened the samurai were sent to the battlefield in order to face the enemy clan based there. In the first days of the battle the recruit had tried going up against a samurai there that turned out to be a high ranking member of the other clan and is a lot more talented that your average samurai. This had lead to the Dai samurai taking the head of the young recruit. Shou was saddened by this news and that story was worrying the old teacher of shou. He could see the look in his eyes and see darkness and anger gather there. Moments like these were crossroads for people. Shou would have to decide which path to take and this could forever take him down a path of darkness. The old man would have to keep an eye on his student and try to help him make the right choice but wont interfere when the actual decision has to be made.
