- Enemies:
Enemy Name: Rocky
Rank: B
Needed damage to take down: A
Description/background: Rocky likes to fight… a lot. Growing up in a rather barbaric tribe in the wastes of the Western Front, all he has known his whole life is fighting. On a trade visit to Remano, he fell in love with the Coliseum and decided to try his hand. After 4 consecutive wins, he decided to stay in the city and reap the rewards of the Coliseum matches. Now up to 12 wins, Rocky is known for killing all but one opponent he has faced, not believing in letting his opponents live with the shame of losing to him.
Abilities: Rocky moves at a slow 6 m/s and wields a large Morning Star capable of inflicting B-tier base damage. Rocky has also mastered body manipulation techniques to turn his body into a weapon. He wears very little in the way of armor, most of it held on via heavy chains across his chest.
Hit Me Again – Rocky uses body manipulation to harden his muscles, deflecting up to B-tier damage for the duration of the post.
Seeing Stars – Rocky swings his weapon at 20 m/s at an opponent’s head to inflict C-tier damage and cause disorientation for two posts, doubling reaction times.
Painful Blow – Rocky bulks up the muscles in his fist, moving it at 20 m/s to swing at an opponent and deal B-tier damage.
Starry Whirlwind – Swinging his weapon around him at 20 m/s, Rocky becomes a whirlwind of death, inflicting B-tier damage to anything within 2 meters of himself. This move may also be used to deflect incoming attacks.
Ground Pound – Rocky grabs his weapon with both hands and lifts it above his head, bringing it down at 25 m/s on an opponent’s head to inflict A-tier damage
Enemy Name: Korinna
Rank: B
Needed damage to take down: A
Description/background: Korinna is a Reim native who grew up learning to fight from her Gladiator father. When her brother died at a young age, her father decided his daughter would learn, same as a son would have. She has had countless fights in the Coliseum, mostly at the lower ranks as she learned to hone her skills and has an impressive win record.
Abilities: Korinna moves at 9 m/s and wields a segmented sword that inflicts B-tier damage. When the segments are all connect, the sword is 1.5 meters long, when extended, the whip-like sword is approximately 4 meters long with segments of the sword every .5 meters.
Deflecting Whip – Korinna twirls at 20m/s, her blade extended to twirl around her, deflecting up to A-tier damage.
Stabbing Whip – Korinna drives her blade into the ground at her feet and the blade extends at 20m/s, coming up in a location of her choosing up to five meters away to inflict B-tier damage.
Sharp Jab – With her sword not segmented, she jabs the blade forward at 20m/s to inflict B-tier damage.
Painful Constriction – Korinna extends her blade at 20 m/s in a whip-like fashion to wrap around an opponent’s legs, dealing C-tier damage and immobilizing them for two posts.
Razor Boa – Korinna extends her blade at 25 m/s in a whip-like fashion to wrap around an opponent’s throat, dealing A-tier damage.
Enemy Name: Polliver
Rank: B
Needed damage to take down: A
Description/background: Polliver is a coliseum favorite, known for putting on a flashy show while being merciful in the end. A Reim native, he grew up watching Coliseum matches where his father competed. When his father died from wounds sustained in battle, Polliver took up the great-sword left behind and began practicing until he was able to enter the Coliseum. He has been undefeated in 8 matches and has never killed an opponent, always paying for their after-care out of his winnings to ensure another orphan was not made in the same manner he was.
Abilities: Polliver moves at up to 10 m/s and carries a great sword capable of inflicting B-tier damage and a short bow capable of inflicting C-tier damage
Fiery Rain – Polliver uses his short bow to fire off 10 fire arrows in a circle around an opponent to trap them inside a five meter circle. If an opponent touches an arrow, C-tier fire damage is inflicted.
Furious Speed – Polliver uses magoi manipulation to increase his constant speed to 20 m/s for two posts.
Wicked Death – Moving at 20 m/s, Polliver dashes past his opponent with his great sword held horizontally to the side, inflicting B-tier damage.
Slice and Slash – Polliver executes a series of 4 slashes at 20m/s with his blade at varying angles, each slash dealing D-tier damage for a total of B-tier damage if all land.
Righteous Strike – Polliver infuses all of his focus into a single deadly attack, his blade moving at 25 m/s in a strike to the torso to inflict A-tier damage.

The mood in the waiting room was quiet anxiety. Telleus sat holding his head in a hand, muttering to himself in disbelief. Even Caelus was uncharacteristically quiet. The news they had received the previous day was shocking to say the least. Caelus was to fight three opponents at once, in a practice commonly known as rookie crushing.
It was normally seen in the lower ranks, perpetrated by up-and-comers who wished to take out competition before it got to them. And because those in the lower ranks often didn't know any better, they would accept. If they weren't killed outright during their match, they were left in a such a state that they would never be able to fight again. To see this practice among the top combatants was almost unheard of. But in rare cases like this, the fighters at the top would see a threat to their records and use their influence to force the match to proceed. If Caelus chose not to fight, it would count as a loss against him. In this case, his first ever.
Telleus stood up. "Maybe it isn't so bad taking a loss. I doubt anyone would fault you for not going out there to get yourself killed." This solution clearly didn't even please himself, but the frustration on Telleus' face when he said it spoke far more than his words. Though their relationship was purely professional, Telleus had grown to see Caelus almost like a son. Which made it even more surprising when Caelus started to chuckle.
"Telleus, this might be the first time you've really misunderstood me. I'm not scared. I thought i'd be mad, but i'm not that either. I'm excited. They're afraid of me, Telleus. This most likely happened because of my win against Zafar. They think that if they don't crush me now, i'll leave them behind." Caelus stood and grabbed Valkyrie, placing the sword in the holster on his back. "If they want to fight me so badly i'll gladly oblige them. But they'll get a hell of a lot more than they bargained for."
He walked towards the entrance of the arena and looked back briefly. "For the top three of the Colosseum to challenge me together, i feel honored they fear my ability so much." He said, before proceeding into the light.
The crowd was already on its feet, cheering loudly for all four combatants. Across from Caelus stood his foes. Rocky the Barbarian, the current number three, known for killing every opponent that ever had the displeasure to lose to him. "Whiplash" Korinna, a long time gladiator that uses a segmented sword for variable distance combat, holding the number two spot. And Polliver, known simply as such, the undisputed king of the Colosseum besides Decimus himself.
Polliver opened his mouth to speak but Caelus interrupted him. "You might have a chance if you all come at me at once! That is why the three of you are here, right?" He chided.
This got a visceral reaction out of Rocky. "Shut it fucker! I'll send your head into the stands with one swing!" Spittle flew from his mouth as he shouted.
"Caelus, i just want you to know that i don't approve of this match. Therefore i will sit on the sidelines to wait for you. If you manage to defeat these two, we can have a proper fight, man to man." His apparent chivalry got a good cheer from the crowd, but Caelus scowled in response.
"Save it, Polliver. If you really didn't approve, you wouldn't be out here trying to take a free win." His retort got equal parts boos, cheers, and ooohs, with a satisfying grimace from Polliver.
Korinna put her hand on Polliver's shoulder as she stepped forward. "If you boys are done comparing cocks, perhaps we can start the fight already? If you're not going to participate Polliver, go wait by the statue." Polliver nodded and walked to his spot and sat down.
Korinna drew her blade, and let the segments break free and extend to their full length. Rocky hefted his morningstar off of his shoulder and grasped it with both hands. Caelus pulled Valkyrie off of his back and let it rest comfortably beside him. There was a beat, and then the starting bell rang.
Caelus knew that in a one-on-one fight, he could take Rocky easily. But while having to deal with Korinna, the barbarians powerful blows would be a constant thorn in his side. He put on a burst of speed, bringing up his shield for his Hoplite Stance. He charged straight in, daring the man to swing. Rocky fell for it easily, swinging his morningstar downward in a Ground Pound. Korinna was a good ten meters away from Rocky, but began running to his aid. It wouldn't come quite fast enough however, as the moment Caelus parried Rocky's blow he used Crippling Riposte to plunge Valkyrie into Rocky's left leg. Rocky was able to nullify some of the damage with Hit Me Again, but Caelus had guaranteed that Rocky would be unable to interfere with his fight against Korinna.
Korinna plunged her blade into the ground for Stabbing Whip, aiming to come up right between Caelus' legs. But Caelus' incredible speed coupled with a lightning Quickstep put him well out of range. A Brave Engage brought him within striking distance of Korinna, but her Deflecting Whip easily dealt with his attack. Her sword reminded him of Zafar's razor cloth, a hint that cleared up how to get through her cunning defense. He dropped his stance, opening himself up to attack. She seized on this, and attempted to wrap her blade around his neck with Razor Boa. Caelus' Reflexive Armorskin allowed him to remain unhurt by her blades, and because she was busy attacking him, nothing was ready to defend her. Caelus plunged Valkyrie into her gut and then out the side, causing her to let out a bloodcurdling scream before dropping to the ground.
He was about to turn his attention back to Rocky, but a flaming arrow whizzed by his face, shot by Polliver's Fiery Rain. Caelus managed to get his shield up for Roar of the Storm to blow the others away, but not before one stuck in his right thigh, and another in his left shoulder. The arrows hurt less than the flames, but they were quickly extinguished by his shield's powerful winds. Caelus stared daggers at Polliver, not expecting him to go back on his word to stay out of the fight.
"IS THAT HOW WE'RE DOING THIS POLLIVER!?" He shouted, furious.
His Blind Fight alerted him to whistling winds, allowing Caelus to duck just underneath the swing of Rocky's Seeing Stars. Caelus rolled underneath the giant of a man, coming up behind him and jabbing Valkyrie into his back. Once again Rocky's Hit Me Again saved him from the worst of the blow, but after Caelus pulled it free, the giant dropped to the dirt face first.
Caelus had no time to even breathe before Polliver flew at him with Furious Speed, his sword poised for Wicked Death. With no time to dodge, Caelus swung his shield to Deflect the blow into the ground. Polliver's sword bit deep into the earth, but he was able to pull it free just in time block a swipe from Valkyrie.
Polliver stepped back before positioning his sword to thrust forward. With a great shout he put all of his might into a single Righteous Strike to skewer Caelus upon his blade. But a simple Brush Past put Caelus out of harms way, and a Cross Counter struck home in a whirl of silver. For a moment the two just stood there, but a shuddering exhale preempted Polliver's fall. As he hit the dirt, it was evident that he was cut clean through, his body separated into two pieces at the waist.
The crowd roared its approval, and chanted his name. In a match that should have been impossible, Caelus had emerged victorious with only minor injuries. Medics rushed to the field, putting Rocky and Korinna onto stretchers and taking them away. Polliver was wrapped in cloth before being removed as well. With any luck, the former two would survive.
Caelus raised Valkyrie high and shouted with all his might. "DECIMUS! I'M COMING FOR YOU NEXT!"
Mom, Dad? Do you see me now? I'm going to make you proud, i promise. Keep watching me, okay?
His victory over the top of the ladder would be the talk of the town for days to come. People began to wonder if and when Decimus would receive his challenge, and ultimately accept. It would be the fight of the decade. Titles started to be thrown around like "Indomitable" or "Invincible". But the one that seemed to stick the most was "The Revenant". It was a testament to his fall from glory, and his subsequent climb not just back to his old position but beyond what anyone thought he would achieve. It that rises from death to achieve its goals: The Revenant.
Caelus loved the name, even if what was required to get it was less than ideal. It served as a reminder of his past, a warning about getting cocky, and a push to grasp what stood in front of him.
