Hello, Magi World. I was looking at our countries and I noticed that a certain two are a bit empty and I feel that they could be occupied with at least a single more Sub Board to liven things up in those places. The first country is Kou, it lacks in a particular place of interest compared to its counterpart across the globe, Reim. Kou I believe deserves at least one new place to add to its country, someplace of importance or backed up in the plot of the site. The second country I feel should receive another place as a Sub Board is Heliohapt. Whatever it is that these two countries attain as new areas if we do add any more I feel should be something akin to the Coliseum or Casino. Any ideas for what two new Sub Boards can be for Kou and Heliohapt? An area that adds a mechanic that can be used.

If they are empty then why would you want to add more sub boards? o __o

The countries are not empty themselves, maybe Heliohapt a bit but that is because of the war happening. When I said that the countries are empty, I meant in regards to lacking in the amount of Sub Boards compared to other countries.

Anyway, have any ideas for places that could be implemented if the staff decides to do so?

@Luna The point of adding sub-boards to many is to gain more traffic in the main boards. However, everyone wants it to be super important plot-wise for it to mean anything or be worth role-playing in apparently. Or even add a new mechanic, which will be annoying to implement since staff will have to think of two new mechanics different from rolling dice in the Balbadd Casino or fighting NPCs/PCs in the Reim Coliseum. So... that will mean more work for figure out workable mechanics....

The mechanics can be thought up by the player base if staff is too busy. Also, this is an idea for after the war, not during.

In regards to "super important plot wise" areas, this does not exactly have to be the case. One can see that for example, the casinos in Balbadd are not heavily tied to the plot. If this idea is so vastly disliked for some reason, I can simply not suggest it but it is just that, a suggestion.

Neo, Adrastos, recently added a place named Ju Hua for the Kou Empire. I personally think it is good and fine for what we have now but that it could be expanded on a bit in terms of plot in the near future.

@Trently The problem with that is the community thinking of a mechanic that is impossible to implement when their idea gets out of hand and/or out of the limits of what the forum is capable of doing, but many won't admit that fault.

EDIT: Also, I don't know how you can say it doesn't have to be the case of tying locations to plot, while saying, in the same post, we can add a plot point later. That just negates your original statement entirely

Then maybe we can avoid the mechanic aspect altogether and just focus on something that has meaning to the country it is being added to. Not that the lake does not, but it has a great basis to develop a plot around it in the future.

Also, what I am saying, Neo, is that plot does not have to play as big as a role as you may think yourself. To surround plot around an area is good but it does not have to be a place where a dungeon rose, a war happened, and the biggest city in all of the Kou Empire is placed, all in the same area. Just an area with significant plot ties to the country is good enough.

Edit: One idea I have is the outer lands of Kou, deserted places between the plains and Kou. That could be a neat place to add I feel.

I don't think you are seeing my point at all. Here's my question, or rather questions, to simplify it: Why does it need to have plot at all for it to be worth role-playing in? Why is it such a terrible thing if there is no pre-written plot or planned plot? Why does there need to be plot at all for people to think, "Oh, this place looks worth role-playing in." The fact that a location needs to have significant plot tied to a country to make it legitimate to role-play in is silly and just frustrating.

My simple answer is because if it has no ties to the plot at all or has no importance, what is the point of it if that particular place can be RPed easily without its respective Sub Board?

Maybe an idea would be to equalize the number of boards in each area if you were to do this. Just section areas off in interesting ways. Kind of like how Kou has the Jade Dragon Mountains.

Or the little countries within other countries like Kina and whatnot?

Just spitting ideas. xD

From now on, when suggesting a sub-board in this thread, please use this:

Code:

[b]Sub-Borad Name:[/b] (insert name of the sub-board (i.e. it's location name))
[b]Country:[/b] (what country/main board is it in: Reim, Kou, Helio, etc)
[b]Significance:[/b] (if this location has any significance to the country, add it here. if none, leave blank or NA)
[b]Mechanic:[/b] (dice roll like Casino, fight NPCs/PCs like Coliseum... what mechanic does this sub-board have if none, write NA)
[b]Description:[/b] (at least 20-50 words describing the location)

EXAMPLE

Sub-Board Name: Ju Hua Lake
Country: Kou
Significance: NA
Mechanic: NA
Description: In the Northeast of Kou, the Ju Hua Lake rests, surrounded by tall trees and lined with a white sandy beach. Many people vacation here, staying in the nearby city of Ju Hua, to relax and get away from the troubles of reality.

Sub-Board Name: The Torn Plains
Country: Kou
Significance: An area of Kou that was given back to the Plains but it is argued it is still the land of the Kou Empire, though a lot of it is wartorn and now abandoned. Players can opt to plot here to change the landscape, revive the presence of Kou once again, or help give back to the people and tribes of the Plains.
Mechanic: N/A
Description: Land of both Kou and the Plains where one can interact with both of them here, abandoned buildings and wartorn towns are located here. It is where the rebel army of Gao Yuan Zu began and Plainsfolk tribes lurk.
