Nero::
Name: Nero Regis
Country Affiliation: Reim
Race: Fanalis
Tier: C (Transferring EXP over from Adam)
Class: Warrior
Age + Birthdate: 23, October 1
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Personality: Listing traits, if that is ok.

  • Stoic: Generally, Nero is not one to wear his heart on his sleeve. He hides them behind a rocky facade, that of one who is tough enough to endure hardships and tribulations. Because of this, he rarely shows his emotions, unless he is being subtle about it. He believes that in order to truly become a man he should be able to weather any storm without complaint.
  • Courageous: A warrior at heart, in battle Nero will never show fear. He sees strong opponents as obstacles which need to be toppled in order for him to grow more powerful, and is excited by the idea of a challenge. His courage can sometimes be blind, however, and will occasionally land him in sticky situations.
  • Driven: Nero is a stubborn about achieving goals he sets for himself, putting it bluntly. He is not the type of person to give up a task, and will do whatever is necessary to reach success in such endeavors. Once he starts something he will always see it through, and if he wants something done it will get done.
  • Loyal: Nero does not often go out of his way to make friends, as he prioritizes his individual growth and strength. However, for those whom he does hold dear he would fight the strongest monsters and sail the roughest seas. Simply put, he would never turn his back on the people who are close to him- provided they are willing to afford the same in return.
  • Aggressive: Motivated by the desire to win, Nero is ruthlessly aggressive in combat. He attributes this aggression to his history as a competitive fighter. He will go to any means to get the upper hand against an opponent, and his combat style is characterized as one meant to dominate his adversaries. Being a Fanalis, he uses his raw power and enhanced speed to overwhelm foes.
  • Aloof: Tying in with his stoic demeanor, Nero can come off as cold or distant to some. He tries to maintain some standard of politeness in his interactions with other people, however. This aloofness lies in the fact that he doesn’t find socialization all that interesting, unless he is speaking with someone particularly special.
  • Opportunistic: An opportunist takes advantage of circumstances which would allow him to gain an upper hand in any given situation. Nero is very much one of these. He is not afraid to exploit circumstances in a bid for an easy victory. He does not see this quality as a bad thing; it simply means he takes advantages of opportunities to succeed. If anything, it’s a smart quality to have, at least by his standards.
  • Pragmatic: Tying in with his opportunism, in combat Nero will do whatever it takes to win, even if by some standards this includes fighting dirty or using his surroundings to his advantage. There are no real rules in a fight, after all, and under this bearing Nero will seek to ensure that he stands tall at the end of the conflict.
  • Witty: He enjoys a good laugh, and has a dry sense of humor.

Likes:

  • Smoking: Nero enjoys a good smoke; he likes to blow big poofy clouds. The feeling of the harsh fumes filling his lungs was unpleasant at first, but he grew accustomed to it and even began to enjoy it.
  • Drinking: There is nothing better than an ice cold beer, especially with a big meal, after work. Although he cannot really speak for being a fan of the taste he likes the warm fuzzy feeling he gets after downing a few mugs.
  • The Color Green: A calming, pleasing color to look at. He likes taking walks in forests, because he can be surrounded by his favorite color there.
  • The Beach: The sound of the waves crashing on the shore and the sea breeze- not to mention the wonderful feeling of sand between his toes- make the beach a great place to be for Nero. He likes to swim in the cool waters of the sea, often against the current, to train his endurance.
  • Red Meat: Yummy and full of protein; the rarer, the better.

Dislikes:

  • Hypocrites: If you talk the talk you better be able to walk the walk. Otherwise Nero has little respect for you.
  • Confections: Particularly cakes and baked goods. He doesn’t really like the taste of them; the icing is generally overbearingly sweet, not to mention unhealthy. He likes to eat things that are more nutritious in value.
  • Fools: Those bombastic in nature with huge egos who put on a big show but end up looking silly are not looked highly upon by Nero, put simply. He finds meaning in actions, not frilly displays and crazy characters.
  • Liars: Stick to your word. Those who do not, or are untruthful about themselves, are often disliked by Nero.
  • Heat and Humidity: Nero is indifferent to experiencing either sensation individually, but the combination of both is particularly nasty. It is an awful sensation to feel as though one’s clothes are literally stuck to his body by sweat.

Aspirations:

  • Become Renowned: It is a great desire of Nero’s to become renowned across the world for his fighting prowess. As a prizefighter and a warrior he seeks to gain fame and fortune for his deeds inside the ring, although he is aware that grand feats of athleticism, strength and combat expertise in other situations might bring him that prestige as well.
  • Capturing Dungeons: They are enigmatic to Nero, and from what he’s heard, filled with riches for those who can enter, defeat the challenges within, and exit with their lives. These are the types of challenges Nero yearns to endure and overcome.

Phobias/fears:

  • Humiliation: To say that Nero fears defeat in combat would be false, as he knows losing is a part of fighting and growing as a person. However, one of the worst things he can imagine is being defeated by someone intent on humiliating him or tarnishing his image as a fighter. Essentially, he will lose to an opponent who is honorable and accept that loss. Losing to someone whose intention is to slander him or tarnish his image is one of the things he would not be able to bear.
  • Clowns: Face paint. Red noses. Big, toothy smiles. Ughh.
  • Being Lost: Figuratively and literally. Nero relies on a sense of internal direction regarding his path of life; he views being lost internally as losing that path and becoming confused in life, disobeying his moral code, and resorting to things which he would never do under normal circumstances. And also, the literal feeling of being lost- say, in the woods or an unfamiliar location- is daunting to him.

Face-Claim: Mikoto Suoh, from K Project
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Hazel
Height: 193cm (6’4)
Weight: 99kg (220lbs)
Appearance:

  • Hair: His hair, like the rest of the Fanalis race, is crimson red. Nero generally does not care too much about the appearance of his hair- he does not mind that it is messy. It is relatively short, ruffled, and slightly spiked, with two strands falling on opposite sides of his face.
  • Face: Nero’s face is sculpted and handsome, put simply. His eyes are narrow, tilted a little bit downwards, and his brows furrow naturally. His jawline is angular and his chin is narrow; his nose is subtly pointed. His mouth, when resting, takes the form of a frown, albeit slightly. His left ear is pierced, through the cartilage.
  • Body: Nero has one of those slim-muscular builds. He has high muscle mass, but given his height his body is very toned, with defined abdominal muscles as well as arm muscles. With his racial strengths he is able to lift and throw people and objects up to twice his own weight. His body structure allows for flexibility and athleticism, however, being able to perform high kicks and acrobatic maneuvers in combat.
  • Dress: Nero can generally be seen wearing a dark coat, with a fur mantle (for days when it is cold) as well as slim-fitting pants. In combat he goes topless and dons loose-fitting pants, which facilitate dodging and striking. He sleeps shirtless as well, wearing comfortable shorts.

Rukh Alignment: Light
Special Features: N/A
History: Nero is the son of two Fanalis parents who escaped slavery and fled to the kingdom of Reim, where there were no slaves. He was born there and named in a manner which was fitting of those who were natives of the city. Growing up, Nero was raised on values of morality and kindness at his parents’ behest, and he held a good relationship with them. He was never too much of a social child, however; he was not too open and he made few friends at the school where he was sent in his youth. His personality then was motivated by learning and succeeding, as opposed to socializing and making friends. He scored high on exams, and was considered a good student by his instructors and mentors.

He was still young (around 8 or 9), however, when his father first took him to see a match in the city’s coliseum. Nero was motivated by the grit of the fighters and their desire to put on a show for those viewing while defeating their opponents. He felt as though even though he was young he had found his calling in the arena. It was then that Nero decided to begin shifting his focus from exceeding in academics to exceeding in athletics. His father, who was a strong fighter himself, took pride in this, and eagerly taught his son techniques which would aid him in battle. From that young age he worked on his body, making sure to build himself into a warrior who would one day be renowned throughout the land. Motivated by the gold and glory which could be won in battle, he focused many aspects of his being into his development as a valiant combatant.

Nero’s training came to a halt, however, when his mother grew ill and weak. He was about 17 at the time, and had never really experienced loss before. His family was not the most well-off, and they were unable to afford the treatment required to help her cure her ailment. Under these conditions she was not able to recover from her illness and she passed away, which affected Nero in a large way. He felt, at that point, that he had devoted too much of his life to training, and he felt that his desire to learn how to fight efficiently had taken away from his ability to spend time with his family. Conflicted, he took up smoking and drinking, and experimenting with things which would alter his state of consciousness. He was coming of age soon- what kind of man would he be, to devote himself so blindly to a single craft that he neglected all the other important things in life? His father noticed this and made attempts to steer Nero back to his old lifestyle, imparting in his son the ideal that working towards a goal was a means to move past the constant pains and struggles of existence, and that moving past trouble with a head held high was a mark of a true man. It took some time for this to sink in, but Nero used this motivation to continue training. Eventually, he enlisted in Coliseum battles and tasted victory for the first time- he dedicated his first win to his mother.

As the years went by, Nero would become a semi-regular fighter, tasting both the sweetness of victory and the bitterness of defeat. That path led him to the present, where he still aims to hone his body and his craft in the hopes of finding himself and accomplishing his goals of being known throughout the world as a great warrior.

Role-Play Sample:

Adam followed the orders of Yakuroro, the Imuchakk; he was very sleepy and dozed off whilst the giant spoke to him, causing him to only answer a part of his question. Thus, he decided to finish off the rest of the response as he led the giant to a large stone courtyard.

"As for my fighting style, I'm more of a relaxed fighter- I despise tense auras. I go with the flow. I seek to learn combative magic that will give me a strategic edge in battle- paralyzing spells, trapping spells- even basic damaging spells would suffice. As for the fight I'm most comfortable with, perhaps we could engage in a little spar in one of the palace's courtyards- they're immense, and there's literally nothing there to break."

Adam led the way to the largest stone courtyard within the palace's walls. It was enormous; 50 square meters of empty space- perfect for a battle.

"So, I guess I can pop off a few spells here... I'd appreciate critique. They are quite new, in fact. I'm still perfecting them."

The blonde prince called forth one of the palace's officials, who brought a wooden dummy in the shape of a man. He would be the target of Adam's spells. He started by unhitching his staff, Kingsbane, and taking a few cautious steps back, until he was in the dead center of the courtyard. Then, he swung the staff in the direction of the dummy violently, and once it was pointing towards its target, released a blast of converged Rukh- they traveled 20m at 15m/s, buffeting the wooden figure and sending it flying into a wall. He called for a target- not just one, but two- and focused his energy. After this he expelled a forceful blast of converged rukh which would travel for 30m at 20m/s. It knocked the two targets 30m back- they flew into walls and exploded upon impact, leaving small craters.

"That's not all I've got- but do you have any comments you would like to throw out?”

Now that you have been accepted, you should go on to creating all the things you'll need. Keep in mind, you may start role playing now but I would suggest getting all the following out of the way before entering any sort of combat:

  • Create your vault! Everyone on the forum is required to make a vault. It is something that you manage personally to keep track of your character's development and belongings. The forum you post this in is located under The Room of Fortitude [Creation Center] > Vault. The link to the template is here. Your vault should have the elements of the template in it but you can customize it however you want!

  • Create your starter weapon! Since you're a Warrior-- you'll want to create a weapon. The forum you post this in is located under The Bazaar [OOC Shop] > Merchant's Alley > Hakim's Smithy > Weapon Smithing. The link to the template is here.

  • Create your starter abilities and traits! The forum you post this in is located under Room of Fortitude [Creation Center] > Abilities/Traits. The link to the template is here. Keep in mind you start out with 2 trait points. Also, when creating starter abilities-- you will create 4 D tier and 1 C tier.

  • If you have any questions, comments, or concerns-- please don't hesitate to message me. I'll be more than happy to help you out the best I can. Thank you for joining us and I hope you enjoy everything the site has to offer!
