One week has passed since the incident at the Black Pyramid and the Fight Club. The city has been preparing for a major festival that will soon take over all the main areas. Homes have been decorated with red and orange lights and ornaments, shops have started to sell their merchandise at low rates, children run through the street due to no school, and thousands have flocked to the city of the Pharaoh’s. The Red Moon Festival would be underway soon and with it would come not only joy and celebration but also drunken tom foolery will be underway. The Red Moon Festival is one of the oldest celebrations in the known world, some say the oldest. The moon dyes itself a crimson red color that radiates an eerie glow on the world below. Many believe that it is the gods showing that they still bleed for their people below, some say it boost the fertility of those that consummate this evening, while for most its true meaning has been lost and it is now just another great reason to get drunk and wild in the hot desert city. The town hires as many helping hands that they can get hold of to help monitor the people during this festival. The upcoming mage and priest Noah has been given the task of being one of these guards….
“Noah!….Noah!....Noah!!!!!” Noah had found himself dozing off in the small little hut that the evening’s guards were using as a base of operation in this area of the city. Noah had been on duty for nearly the whole day and was rather tired of working and the people he was working for. He had dozed off in a rough little chair with his arms propped up on the table supporting his head. A half cup of wine sat before him, he was not a big drinker but today had been long and annoying he needed anything he could get his hands on to stop his raging headache. He had not been asleep for longer than twenty maybe thirty minutes, in all honestly it was probably closer to an hour but he did not care at all. The voice that was calling his name was the man in charge of this area, Ser Koros. He was once a upper ranked official in the army but was dishonored after a incident that many do not dare speak about, at least not to the man’s face. Koros busted into the little shack letting in the sounds of outside in along with the delicious smell from the venders that were out there. Noah was too deep in a sleep to be disturbed by such things though, a small trickle of saliva ran from his mouth onto the table. Koros kicked the chair out from Noah causing him to fall to the ground, which of course woke him up. As his eyes fluttered open Koros walked over and stood hovering over top. His skin was black as night and covered in scars from his youth. A golden belt was around his waist that matched the golden chest plate he was wearing. “What in the name of Ra where you doing?! You have a job to do boy! You are not allowed to just take naps when you please! If you want your pay tonight go break up some ruffians fight near Oko’s Bar. I’m tired of all you new hire guards being so lazy! The Pharaoh is wasting his good money to make sure this festival goes off without any problems the least you could do is the job you are getting paid for, I do not care what your last name is and who your granddaddy is.”
He watched Noah, waiting for the boy to stand up and go out and do what he was told. Of course Noah was going to go but he was also rather annoyed with this man. If he was in the right mood he might have killed him like his overseer at the Black Pyramid, but lucky for this man he was not in such mood….yet. Noah grabbed his staff and walked out of the hut not speaking a single word to the man, he would only retaliate if the man persisted to annoy him. There was such a large crowd of people in front of him that he was instantly filled with dread and annoyance at this task. Pushing through crowds of drunk and sweaty people were not in the stars for him tonight. He allowed a small bit of ruhk to flow through him and it a matter of seconds was flying above the people with the other magicians in the area. As he looked down he envied the children down there that were able to go out and have fun like that, his mother took him to this festival a few times but it had been so long ago that he almost forgot what it was even like.
The area where the fight was taking place was near a large square area where hundreds were gathered. He thought it might be hard to find the men that were making this big fuss but he quickly spotted them, it helped that one of them was an Imuchakk and towered above the rest of the people. He did not see many of the blue haired warriors this south so their size still amazed him a bit. He flew over to them hovering a few meters above the blue haired warriors head. It did not take too long for people to notice him and start pointing. The two that were currently brawling looked up to see what was disturbing those around them. Noah’s arms were crossed and a stern look was on his face. “Cease this at once, you are disturbing the festival.” It was the Imuchakk that spoke up. “And why shh..hould I listen to a li…ttle mage ffff…fly like you.” He was slurring his words. Noah rolled his eyes and held out his staff causing some green and pink flower petals to fall on the two. Instantly the fell to the ground coughing up blood and vomiting a bit. Noah just hovered there with a cold look on his face. “Because you drunk brute I am much stronger than you.” He flew off back to the hut to tell Koros his success and maybe if he was lucky get another little nap in.
