The Guild's Quest II [job/solo]

Quest:

Hohotaro casually strolls inside the bazaar's civic building. It was bustling as usual with merchants and citizen alike falling in line to the different paperwork they needed to process, but Hohotaro is not there for any of that. He walks straight towards the reception desk and greets the beautiful lady behind it.

"Hi Hanna!  What's up?" Hohotaro leans on top of the desk with his arm and brushed his hair back while smiling the most attractive smile that he can muster.

"Hello Mister Hohotaro what can I do for you today?" Hanna responds with a sweet smile.

"Please... drop the mister thing... you're making me feel like an old man..." Hohotaro sets his head on top of the desk and shows an exaggerated frown.

"My friends call me Hoho!" He points to his chest with a wide smile on his face.

Hanna chuckles and nods. "Alright... Hoho!"

Hohotaro blushed as he heard Hanna say his name, it was rather curious for him because it's just his name, everybody calls him that, but when it was her it feels different, it was different.

"So Hanna..." He draws circles on the desk with his fingers. He is trying to find the words to say. From the moment he laid eyes on her he felt already something different deep down inside. Maybe it's her pink lips framing her sweet smile, or her bright sparkling topaz eyes that calms him whenever he found himself being lost inside them, or maybe it's her fresh picked lilac scent that reminds him of his peaceful days with the caravan on the plains, or maybe it's just her presence that seems to make him feel light on his feet, it makes the room sems brighter, whatever it may be he knew immediately that he wants to get  closer to her, to know her better.

"Well... I'm just thinking that... maybe... you know..." Hohotaro is struggling, he knows exactly what he wants and what he needed to say but he is worried that only one wrong word, one wrong move, could ruin everything. He might offend her or she might think he's not worth her time.

"Are you doing anything later? Like after work maybe?" Hohotaro asked, playing it safe. It's just a question, nothing is wrong with that. But his body language betrays him, he showed a shy smile and nervously scratches the back of his head.

"Oh? Hmm..." Hanna stares at the distance and placed her finger on the side of her pouted lips and thinks for a minute "Yeah..." Hanna's smile disappears and she's now showing a worried look on her face. "I need to organize some paperwork after. Sorry..."

Hohotaro's heart sunk as if it's crushed beneath a collapsing mountain, he tried to hide his emotion with a smile. "Haha! That's fine..." Hohotaro is very inexperience when it comes to this. He immediately thought that this was Hanna's way of saying that she hates him, that she wouldn't want anything to do with him. Thinking like this he wanted to just run away from the rejection he's feeling but he controlled himself. Maybe there's still a chance, maybe she's really just busy. There's still tomorrow, surely she would not be busy everyday, he made himself feel better but it's not enough. "So... Let me leave you to your work then... I'll have to do something too, talk to you later Hanna." He tries to smile but it just looks fake. He waves goodbye and left the place in a rush.

He needed to clear his mind for a while, maybe if he kept himself busy he would be able to forget the crushing feeling deep inside him. He went to The Guild to try and find some jobs for him to do. That is more simple, take a job, do the job, and then be rewarded. He wished that it would be just as simple to enter Hanna's heart.

Hohotaro crashed on top of The Guild's front desk with a defeated look on his face. The usual male receptionist Bob greeted Hohotaro. "Huh? What's wrong with you? Having a bad day?"

"Bobby..." Hohotaro looks at Bob with a sad puppy eyes. "What do I have to do to make a girl like me..."

"Oh ho ho? What do we have here?" Bob poked Hohotaro's cheeks playfully. "You just joined the guild and now you're already becoming man!" Bob teases Hohotaro with a grin.

"You're not helping..." Hohotaro glares at Bob, he's not ready to joke around just yet, the wound from Hanna's rejection is still fresh from his mind. "Forget about it..." Hohotaro scowls. "Just give me a job... any job... I just need to get my mind off things."

"Hey hey... I'm just kidding!" Bob laughs and pats Hohotaro on the head. "To answer your question... Haha..." Bob smiled awkardly. "Actually I know exactly how you feel, I have the same problem..." He leans closer to Hohotaro and whispers. "See that girl over there by the guild shop? Yeah... I've been trying to woo her for awhile now." He leans back and rummage on the stack of paper besides him. "So.. I'm sorry if I can't be of any help..."

"Anyway... Ah here it is..." Bob pulled a piece of paper out of the stack and gave it to Hohotaro. "Here you go, it's a very straightforward mission, kill a  giant bird. Simple enough, eh?"

Hohotaro takes Bob's hand and hold it in a firm handshake. He stares straight into Bob's eyes piercing directly towards his soul, he pats Bobs shoulder and say in a serious voice. "Brothers..." Hohotaro composed himself and took the mission dossier and heads out on a hunt for the giant bird.

Hohotaro started is hunt of the giant birds that's preying on the caravan's horses. He figured that the best way to capture it is by travelling with a caravan and wait for it to make its attack. So Hohotaro approached a merchant that is set to travel along the route where the bird is hunting and asked him if it would be possible for Hohotaro to be a guard.

The merchant didn't have to think about it twice, he was supposed to postpone his trip mainly because of the news of the bird terrorizing the route but with this new Imuchakk guard here they might be able to pass through safely.

Not long after they left the bazaar following the route Hohotaro's plan came to fruition. They heard a loud flapping of wings at the distance followed by the sound of cawing that shakes the earth. The horses started to become restless and who can blame them? The thing is coming for them. Hohotaro took the bow from his back and aimed it directly at the bird flying towards them.

Hohotaro holds 4 glowing arrows on his hand, ready to fire as soon as the bird is within his range. The bird draws closer and closer and in an instant Hohotaro let loose a barrage of glowing arrows flying towards the large frame of the flying beast.

Seeing the arrows coming towards it, the beast folded its wings to its side and starts a steep dive towards the ground dodging the arrows from Hohotaro. The beast then spreads its wings again to stop its descent and darted forward straight towards Hohotaro and the caravan.

Hohotaro notch another arrow on his bow, it was a fizzing arrow. Hohotaro let it loose towards the bird, it exploded on top of it and rain down a rain of lava covering the bird and 20m area around it. The bird seems to have no escape but it flaps it wings and it creates a wall of wind that seems to make the lava dissipate.

"Tch." Hohotaro clicked his tongue in disappointment the bird is stronger than he thought but he's still not out of options. Hohotaro tries to nock another arrow in his bow, but it was time for the bird to attack. The bird flaps its wings and a barrage of feathers came flying towards them. Hohotaro jumps forward in front of the horses and put his bow back on his back and unsheathes his swords. He then spins around creating a blanket of wind parrying feathers immediately within his area.

Hohotaro just finished his spin when he saw the bird coming for another attack. The bird swoops down towards Hohotaro with it's claw aimed towards him. He managed to parry the blow with his swords as the bird pass by them and prepares for another attack.

Hohotaro sheathes his swords and takes out his bow again nocking a circular tipped arrow in it while holding a clay tipped arrow on his hand. He shoots the round tipped arrow towards the bird and it exploded with light that illuminates the dark sky. The bird caws loudly seemingly disoriented as Hohotaro shoots the clay tipped arrow towards it. It hits the bird and it formed a white mist that almost instantly wrapped the bird with web causing it to fall to the ground.

The beast is now bound and helpless struggling on the ground as Hohotaro released a normal arrow aimed at its heart.
