Hohotaro the Hero III

Quest:

Hohotaro wakes up with what seems to be just hours passed from when he fought with the screeching beasts. He finds himself alone in a dimly lit tent laying down on a small makeshift mattress, that have a thick cloth covering soft stacks of grass. He feels exhausted and parched probably because of all the blood he lost, other than that he feels perfectly fine. He sits up and sees that the wounds on his arms are healing quite nicely though it still need to be wrapped in bandages to heal completely.

Hohotaro heads outside, the moon is already up and the surroundings are quiet with nothing but the hooting of the owl and the sounds of insects can be heard.

As Hohotaro was just standing there admiring the sights and sound of the sleeping village he was approached by the elder of the tribe.

"I'm glad that you're already awake." The elder sits on the ground and gestures for Hohotaro to sit beside her. "You should rest some more and watch the stars with me."

"Woah!" Hohotaro exclaimed "Grandma I like you and all that but... not like that!" Hohotaro slowly backs away.

A vein popped out of the elders forehead in annoyance and bops Hohotaro on the head with her walking stick. "Don't be stupid boy!"

"Sorry..." Hohotaro sits down besides the elder holding the lump on his head.

"I am thankful for all you've done for the village." The elder smiles at Hohotaro.

"Oh!" Hohotaro scratches his head "To be honest... I'm mostly doing it because of the rewards! haha" Hohotaro laughs awkwardly

"Hohoho" the elder laughs. "A favor for a favor child. It's a just simple way for people to help each other. That way no one would feel cheated or like they owe something. Equal exchange, it's a smart concept."

Hohotaro ponders on this. She's right both party will receive what they want, no one needs to compromise and no one needs to feel superior. Hohotaro really likes this idea, at the same time what if someone have nothing to give? Will he just ignore them?

"But remember that no favor is worth the cost of your life." The elder shuffles to stand up, Hohotaro stood up first and help her to stand. "Thank you child, oh and also." The elder gave Hohotaro a knowing look. "We regret nothing in ever meeting you. And everything is guided by the path of the Rukh no matter what it is. Just remember that."

The elder then smiles and waves back at Hohotaro behind her. "You should rest more, You can use that tent. I'll tell the caravan boy that you're doing fine. He wouldn't stop asking hahaha!" the elder laughs as she walks away holding her back. "Ow my back, sitting down on the ground is NOT a good idea." She mumbles at the distance.

Hohotaro tried to wrap his head around what the elder said but he immediately gave up, thinking that it's only ramblings of the old. He heads back inside the tent and tries to sleep. He tumbles and turns and lay flat on his stomach but nothing seems to work, Hohotaro is completely awake right now.

Hohotaro stares at the ceiling of the tent wide awake. "Well... I won't be getting any sleep now." so he stands up and takes his weapons that are resting by the ten'ts support pole and head outside.

Hohotaro breathes in deeply stretches his hand and thought to himself.. "Welp... maybe I'll just walk around and have some fresh morning air."

Hohotaro walked to the wheat fields. It still doesn't fail to amaze him, the flowing stretch of gold moving with the wind like the waves of the sea Hohotaro compares it to a golden sea. He looked from side to side and sneakily plucked one stalk of wheat and eat it. It tastes like grass... Hohotaro made a mental note to ask the elder on how to make these things edible...

Hohotaro follows the water that's coming to the farm he wants to know where the water source comes from. He sees that the farm is being watered by a stream, he follows the stream and he finds himself by the river inside the forest.

The river is clear and shallow enough that the bottom can be seen along with the freshwater fish swimming in it. The current is not too fast that standing inside it would be hard. Hohotaro kneeled on his one knee and took some water on his hands and drinks it. The water is cool and refreshing, he also splash some more water on his face.

Because of the water's rushing sound Hohotaro had the urge to release some water from inside his body. As he was whistling and heeding the call of nature to the river he spots a big moving shadow that is approaching about 20 meters downstream from where he is.

Hohotaro quickly finishes his business and tries to hide from sight unfortunately the shadow already noticed him. The shadow comes closer and Hohotaro recognize the shape of a bear. As it get even closer Hohotaro can see the madness in it's eye and the frothing saliva from it's mouth. Hohotaro thinks that it's definitely not normal and definitely looks hostile.

Hohotaro steps back circling around the bear trying to keep away from the river. Hohotaro knows that the river gives poor footholds and it would be disadvantageous for him if the rabid bear manages to push him towards the river.

The bear lumbers towards Hohotaro, growling and saliva dripping. Hohotaro notices that the bear is so slow he might be able get away if he run. He considers running away a very good idea, on the other hand he might get a reward for killing this bear. This bear certainly looks dangerous, Hohotaro is not sure if killing a bear was one of the request for him, Khaleel have the list and he's not here right now.

As Hohotaro weighs his option the bear comes closer and closer. At last Hohotaro made up his mind. This is just a bear and killing it would be beneficial for him just for the meat and fur alone. He can kill this bear and be home by breakfast. This is a no brainer, Hohotaro starts to charge at the bear with his hook swords at the ready.

Hohotaro charges and let loose a flying hook kick towards the head of the bear but the bear just shrugs it off. Hohotaro follows it up with a roundhouse kick of the same foot using the momentum of the first attack, but again the bear just shrugs it off blocking both of Hohotaro's attack with just it's toughness. The bear retaliates with a ravenous bite that Hohotaro manages to block by crossing his hook sword in front of him.

After this exchange Hohotaro realized that this is not just an ordinary bear like the ones from Imuchakk. He realized that he might have trouble taking this one down.

Ability:

The bear growls and charges at Hohotaro, it swipes its claw towards him. Hohotaro swats the claw down with his hook sword. The bear angrily unleash its ravenous bite to Hohotaro for parrying its claw. Hohotaro absorbs the blow with his hook swords crossed in front of him. Unperturbed the bear tries to bite at Hohotaro, he noticed the bite's loss speed slashes the bear's head twice using his hook sword before the bite can reach him.

The bear reels back clearly being hurt by the gash on his head. The bear stands showing it's intimidating size and crash down towards Hohotaro with it's ravenous claw. Hohotaro jumps to the side dodging the attack and jumps back towards the bear with a flying kick on its side. Just like earlier the kick is ineffective seemingly blocked by the bear's muscles.

Hohotaro does a front kick on the same side but still it seems ineffective. Determined to finish the bear right now Hohotaro grabs the fur on the back of the bear and drives his right knee towards it's side this time Hohotaro feels a reaction from the bear. Finally he jumps and does a half roll and drives his axe kick towards the bear back breaking it's spine. The bear falls down.

Abilities:

"Haah~" Hohotaro plops down to the grown after all the tension left his body from the fight. "That was way harder than I expected!" Hohotaro lays flat on the ground with arms stretched out as far as he can. "Now I feel really sleepy." Hohotaro rolls around the ground back and forth.

Hohotaro sits up and examines himself. He is lucky that he managed to prevent any new wounds from the bear's attack. He looks back with his fight with the bear. Hohotaro thinks that he might need more training if an animal like this can give him trouble what more the horrors that awaits him inside the Dungeon. Hohotaro decides to leave the training for tomorrow, if he feels like it...

"Anyway I need to go back to the caravan I'm getting pretty hungry, I wonder what's for breakfast." Hohotaro puts the huge bear on his back and started walking towards the caravan.
