Spoiler:

With the rising of the dungeon, Magnostadt was awash with rumors regarding its sudden appearance. Some believed that the chancellor is responsible for "The Citadel" as the locals were calling it for now. It was possible that he had it built and risen for some secret magic experiment and THAT was the reason why he ordered everyone ignore it. Others claimed they saw a strange black haired magician flying above the dungeon before it rose, but no one reliable could confirm these suspicions any more than they could prove the chancellor was behind it. One thing was for sure, despite the orders, people were finding it very hard to not investigate the incredible new structure that appeared in the great plains.

Many magician's within the city couldn't be trusted, but this was where being an outsider would turn out to come in handy. Since he had no political loyalties to any factions within the city, he wasn't under anyone's influence. Because of this, Yakuroro found himself approached by a high ranking professor in the academy who shared his concerns that some may try to disobey the chancellors orders to ignore the dungeon. The Imuchakk was offered handsome payment to simply watch the perimeter of the dungeon over night to ensure no one tried to tamper with it lest some horrible magic befall the city.

As Yakuroro didn't have much else to do for the evening, he accepted the all night watch position and promised not to investigate "The Citadel" for himself while he was there. Yakuroro had no real reason to keep the promise, but for now he didn't have a reason to break it either. While he was just as curious about the structure as the next mage, for now being on the chancellor's good side was more of a priority. There would be time to check it out later and with the support of the academy behind him.

Yakuroro began his watch right away and left the city walls to patrol the area surrounding the dungeon. Yakuroro was slow but methodical with his patrol as he blue eyes scanned the area for anything suspicious. All was quiet while the sun was out which made for a pleasant sum of time which Yakuroro could spend thinking about magic. Yaku didn't find any one trying to approach the Dungeon even as the full moon rose into the night sky to replace the sun. When the moon was high in the sky casting its silver light across the plains, Yaku's instincts finally told him that someone had come.

There was something off about the rukh in the area as they seemed to be noisier than usual for a brief moment and that was what initially made Yaku stop to turn and see someone running for the dungeon entrance. "Crackle!" Yaku shouted as he pointed his staff at the running target and formed a 3 meter spike cluster of ice. The magical attack flew through the air aimed a bit ahead of the running target to account for its movement. The ice landed right on target...or at least it should have, but instead it passed right through the man.

Yakuroro blinked in disbelief as he squinted his eyes watching his target which had now stopped in its tracks. The Imuchakk was sure he saw his ice spike pass right through the trespasser as if he wasn't even there. Little did Yakuroro know that the "man" he was watching was simply an illusion cast by a nosy orange magician whom resolved to sneak into the towering structure Yaku had been sent to guard. The illusion of the orange mage, Mikael, turned its back to Yakuroro and held out its staff. The blue haired Imuchakk didn't understand what was going on, now the man was turning his back on Yaku!? The reality of the matter was that Mikael was no standing behind him and pointing his staff at the blue mage. Yaku was perfectly fooled by the illusion and had no time to defend himself as a wall of strength magic was unleashed at Yakuroro's back.

"Quake!" The sound of his opponent casting the spell caused him to turn around just before the impact. Yakuroro was thrown back three meters and let out a howl of pain as the illusion in front of him faded and the magician behind him spoke up. "I understand why the chancellor would rely on an outsider. But some barbarian from the north isn't going to be enough to stop me. You're 20 years too soon youngster." Mikael revealed himself to be a middle aged magician dressed in orange garb to suit his magic type.

Yaku turned to look at Mikael while using his staff to get back on his feet. Yaku's left arm was now broken and his left leg was hit pretty hard too. The unmistakable wrenching of pain was in his face as he tried not to put weight on his injured limb, but there was also a forced grin as Yaku retorted, "Ah, indeed. I am from a tribe that is full of muscle heads. They are loud, annoying, and all they care about is strength." The Imuchakk was listing only bad things about is people, but still his smile remained. "They don't understand the value of magic one bit...but you know what? I'm not like them." Yakuroro's mind was racing for his reply was simply a way to buy time for thinking. The old wizard approaching him now was definitely the same person he tried to attack with an ice spell before, but that must have been an illusion. Then the blast of force...combined with the color of his cloths; all of this evidence made it clear that this magician was using light and strength magic.

"Enough. I just need you to go to sleep alright?" Mikael said as he prepared another spell aimed for Yakuroro's face. "Piercing Beam!"

The gamble Yakuroro had to make was whether Mikael would use light magic or strength magic. Since Yaku didn't really have an effective counter for strength magic anyways, so he went he bet on light and shouted a spell just as Mikael did.

"Mist!"

A thick cloud of mist rose before Yakuroro and diffused half of the light beams strength causing it to leave light burn over Yaku's broken right arm as he held it up in front of his face. Steam hissed and the view was broken for both mages, but Yakuroro's mist would tell him that Mikael was trying to run past him, "Not so fast! Stubborn Current." Yaku quickly followed up with a second spell and manifested water at his staff before unleashing it as a powerful stream. The current turned in mid air and crashed into Mikael while he was still blinded by the steam and mist. The orange magician put up his borg in time to defend himself from crashing into the side wall of the dungeon. The shell of magoi took damage, but it didn't fall. Yaku wasn't expecting it to since the mage clearly knew more magic types than Yaku did, so of course his borg would be stronger. Since he expected his spell wouldn't finish things off, Yaku canceled his magoi out put and used his flight spell to move towards the orange mage at 5m/s while brandishing his staff, "Frozen Horn!" The head of his staff was covered with sharpened ice as his right arm swung the empowered staff into Mikael's borg. There would be a violent clash of magoi before the orange magician's shield shattered a the flat end of Yaku's ice encrusted staff crashed into Mikael's gut.

The trespassing magician fell to his knees as Yaku landed on his still good leg and cast one last spell,  "Frostbite." This would send two orbs of water to the orange mage's wrists and ankles binding them. After taking the old man's staff away, Yakuroro took out a fire work he'd been given to signal a caught intruder. No one else tried to sneak in that night and Yakuroro was rewarded in full for his efforts. Unfortunately his injuries made continuing the watch the next day would have to be left to someone else.
