While the King of Reim is open to meeting with the public, such as Religious Leaders and Guild Leaders, he has determined that it is necessary to go through some manner of decorum to meet him.
Furthermore, since the joining of a certain Religious Leader, the Palace Guard has become more strict and replaced the lax guards previously under his control. Each hallway is patrolled by three men who switch off duty every four hours. These men form a squad, and consist of one Veteran Palace Guard who leads the group and and two Novice Palace Guards who follow the veteran. These guards are trained to not only detect danger, but to ring an alarm in the event that something occurs that they cannot handle as a single Squad.

Furthermore, there is a form to fill out in order to meet King Lagi in the first place. As he is busy, he can only meet so many people in a day.
The setting of the Palace should follow what is written below, otherwise you are met by a Squad of guards and your entrance into the Palace is considered an intrusion:
The receptionist will be to the left of the entrance to the Palace of Kings. This receptionist will provide an applicant with the form to sign, and will not allow the applicant to continue without filling out the form. Once the forms have been filled out, the applicant must first wait in a waiting room with others for his turn for an audience. Visible weapons will be confiscated after receiving the form and returned after the audience is adjourned at the receptionist area. Animals are barred from entry , they can reside outside of the Palace of Kings and wait patiently. Violators will be arrested, jailed, and fined. Refusal to follow protocol will prevent a prospective applicant from meeting with the King. Those who abide will be escorted by 2 Stoic Lieutenants to meet with the King. A full body check will be performed before allowing the applicant into the Throne Room, as the guards will attempt to discover any hidden weapons on the person's body. They are not overly invasive of a person.

Within the Throne Room itself are the personal guards of King Lagi El Nagi. They will stop at nothing to defend their King.
