~Zion's Legacy~
Zion Koval's Legacy 9dXGTlJ

Born not to a set of parents like most children, Zion was brought into this world by the power of a Shard of Solomon and the wishes of a dying old man. Mikael Koval was a specialist of life magic and a magic tool researcher. Using the waning years of his life, he used magic to craft an artificial body that was capable of sustaining life as long is it was provided magoi. But the basic function of "living" isn't the same as being a living person.Mikael was driven to wits end trying to make it work but at best he could only create extensively programmed dolls that could act the part, but were ultimately just fakes. The final hope the old man had was the Shard of Solomon he had obtained on the night they fell from the sky like falling stars of fate. Begging fate to bring life to the doll, Mikael pleaded to Solomon and crushed the shard in hand. The rukh of a yet to be born child was plucked from the great flow and carried down to inhabit the doll body Mikael had made. This was the story of how Zion was born, but it continues the next day as his fully developed artificial brain began to absorb information like a sponge. By the next morning, Mikael had taught Zion enough speech and manners to show him off to the rest of Magnostadt in a brief but public ceremony in which Zion was named Mikael's sole heir.Zion spent the next few weeks of his life being constantly taught and trained by the elderly magician, both in the ways of magic as well as how to conduct himself with honor and dignity. Mikael quickly weakened however and was soon laying on his death bed passing on his final words to the confused and scared Zion. "Live a good life and become someone great that I can be proud in." They were words the grief stricken Zion couldn't comprehend at the time.Lost, the one month old doll didn't know what to do until a masked man claiming to be Mikael's former student and subordinate during a brief invasion from Kou. Casvallion took Zion under his wind secretly and revealed to him that Mikael had enemies who were eyeing his estate and belongings. They had been looking forward to his imminent death as under normal circumstances all Mikael's materials and estates would fall into Academy custody. But now there was an heir! Zion held legal claim over all of Mikael's property now including his years of research into magic tools as well as the plans used to create Zion's own body. Casvallion also told Zion of the danger in letting others know that his vessel was different from that of anothers. Though he bled like any other, the structure of his magoi system was entirely different and his magical body had a strange resonance with the rukh that would manifest in unnatural phenomenon if he became too "in tune" with one of the eight magic types. Zion soon learned just how serious these enemies of his father took things. A few months later he was returning home late one night to find Makael's estate ablaze! Bandits had looted the place and stolen his father's research. Zion was overcome with emotion and killed the remaining bandits but others had long since run off with what they'd been paid to come steal. So began Zion's conflict with the Academy Instructor named Kornel Klien. Kornel was Mikael's rival for decades and for years the two old men competed in their research of magic tools. Kornel was a careful schemer, usually keeping several disconnected chains of people to pass on instruction and pull strings. This network flanked him like a phalanx of alibis and plausible deniability. It took the loose lips of one particularly relied upon magician for Zion to even learn the name of his chief enemy. Too bad by that point he'd already been captured.Zion was "mercifully" not killed and instead taken far from Magnostadt where he was sold off into slavery. Zion's new cell mate was a former assassin named Zafar Mushtaq. Bonding due to their fellow bondage, the two shared words as a ship carried them up the coast where they were moved onto a caravan. After days of travel inland, the group arrived at an underground cavern opened through the use of a magic tool.Buried deep beneath the earth was a large space where a giant tent was set up. A literal Underground Auction was taking place where the world's nastiest and richest scum gathered to compete for novelties and depraved obsessions. Zion and Zafar's own current master had planned to turn them both into hideous beasts to be kept as pets using the power of dungeon beasts that was this auction's main attraction.Zafar was the first "lucky" slave to be chose when the master won his first bid. But they underestimated the former assassin as well as the power they were about to hand him. After being transformed into a Lava Beast, Zafar's body became soft and molten. When he was returned to his cage, he asked Zion to pull the magoi sealing collar off of him by dragging it through the flowing magma body. Zion grit his teeth and sacrificed his hands in order to free his cellmate of the collar. With Zafar unleashed, his lava body became hotter and more fluid. He melted Zion's own collar off and then burst out of the cage proceeding to cause a riot setting fires wherever he went. Zion used the opportunity to look for his belongings backstage as they had been brought along by the master to be sold in the auction. There Zion found the source for a Storm Kitsune dungeon beast transformation which he used on himself in a desperate situation. The transformation didn't alter the unique magoi system of the doll, nor did it change the fact that his soul was merely occupying a constructed vessel. But it did change his appearance and grant him power. Combined with Zafar's might the two broke out of the underground auction and escaped to freedom.Zion offered Zafar sanctuary at the Koval Estate which had been built up into a trading post over the months Zion had spent leading up to his capture. This included a newly built stone tower which would house the Lava Beast. Zion arranged this all in secret and then left quietly to leave Magnostadt.Seeking to take advantage of the fact that Kornel doesn't know Zion's new appearance or location, the doll decides to set out on a journey west to Reim in order to learn and grow more, seeking out his father's final wish that he'd become "someone great" whatever that meant. Zion wanders the world planning to return to Magnostadt one day when he would confront Kornel Klien, reclaim his father's stolen research, and to bring justice to this long grudgeful enemy of Mikael.
