Hooving it up [Lagi/B-Rank Mission/Solo]

The added benefit that Lagi tried to be on top of things relied on the common factor of his interests. Being the dark hand of debauchery was based upon his desires, whether those desires were temporary or not was of no concern of Lagi. However, the deal with the horses was something that seemed Lagi that would last a rather long time, regardless of the fact that he would just end up using the horses as a business venture or opportunity. That was apart of the deal,  it always was and seemingly always will be. However, finding ways to do what interests him and turn it into a money-making scheme was always the method of how Lagi can cope with the dark hand activities.

"The genes of these horses are pretty incredible. This wild horse breed is only found in Kou, I may have never come across them if I haven't been staying here for so long. But then again, the long times that I have been staying here was equivalent to the torture and the suffering of the people that managed to come across my path. From an out of body experience, these are people that I would more than likely feel sorry for. The choices of joining or dying isn't all that kind, but it could change the lives of the few that make the right choice. "

It wasn't as if Lagi was talking to himself while he was at the stables, there were horses all around him that tended to make occasional noises when he came about. Even though the initial process was to break their will and run them through fear, the horses still couldn't get over the gentle touch of his hands, and the way that he held and handled them in general. Maybe it was because he carried himself to be a person that the horses can trust? Maybe that's they were so calm around him?

"Hmm..... these hooves....."

Noticing that it was time to shave down some of the hoves of the horses, Lagi went and got his hooves filer and brought a chair over to one of the horses.  While he went about shaving the hoves down with skillful precision and paying attention to detail of the dimension of the hooves, the experienced beast tamer was doing his best to make sure that he wouldn't burden the horses by doing a terrible job. There were others that he could entrust the assignment to, but he still didn't feel completely comfortable of leaving the vampires around to attack what's to be considered as their source of money.

"These hooves...... I wonder if....."

After finishing up with the horse's hooves, Lagi would then start to reach into his satchel in order to give the horse a carrot for being well behaved throughout the process.  Afterward, Lagi would call out to the drug team that was assisting him with the supplements to explain what idea he had.

"Ok, I think I know what would really benefit these horses then. The hooves are not as strong as I was expecting them to be, which is why some of the horses caught an infection by the time that we rounded them up. But I think it's quite possible to make some changes to the supplements that we are giving them in order to focus on the increased quality of keratin proteins that the creatures are producing on their own.  maybe if we are lucky, we could get it to focus on the density of the proteins when they formulate into the horizontal sheets that make up the hooves. I want to lower the possibility of the hooves ever getting destroyed or caught up without question. If we can do this,  then the longevity of the horses also increase, which means we can increase the amount of money that we can sell the horses for. "

With agreeing nods, Lagi clapped his hands in order to signify his team to get to work. Just from the speech alone, it was as if they already knew what Lagi wanted and was asking for in general. They had to up the ante,  they had to try to provide a positive mutation in the horses in a short period of time.

Some time has passed with Lagi focusing on the development of the horses. With his team of chemists and the like that he cultivated through the months of planning and even taking from other drug dens after establishing himself to be the best of them all, it started to lead the discovery of a new serum that was coming from a liquid of an estranged plant. As a matter of fact, finding this plant was a bit of a shock to some of the dark hand members, asking Lagi what it was and what the use of the plant was for.

"Jynx, w-what is that?"

Those who were already working with Lagi knew what the contents were for, but a quick rundown for the people who weren't too involved in the drug business or even served as the muscle of the group would have been fine for Lagi to speak to them about. Besides, they were partners, weren't they?

"Huh?"

Stopping what he was doing Lagi cut off the fruit from one of the plants and started to drain it of the liquid as he turned it with the rest of the mush food product he was producing for the horses.

"The Canna Hortensis is a very common, giant plant and can be found in most subarctic regions. It blooms twice a year, for 3 weeks. It has large, diamond shaped leaves, which are usually yellow-green. It also grows quite large flowers, which can be dark bronzeblack. These plants grow within short distances from each other, but it's tricky to control and maintain their growth."

Moving over to examine the horse's hooves, Lagi would hum to himself as he petted the creature that was devouring the substances. "

"As a defense mechanism, the Canna Hortensis grows large thorns. They rely on self-pollination to reproduce. Once pollinated, they grow fairly large, inedible fruits. The liquid from the fruits or the plant itself is what we want, the nector to be infused with the other supplements to enhance the process of the drug and add a new stabilization priority to the proteins that help produce the hooves. With this, we should be able to have the horses not only develop their own powerful metal like hooves, but it to be a gene that can be passed off to offspring. This might be a lot to take in, but long story short, we found our golden ingredient to get these horses in the kind of shape that you haven't seen before. But the reason why I'm telling you so much about it is that I would like you to add this plant to the planetarium. Take good care of it, it could be useful for us in the future, so I wouldn't want you to be careless about it at all. "

Lagi was rather pleased with himself when it came to the results of his hard work. The horses seemed to be responding well to the taste of the Canna Hortensis. The rest was examinations and a waiting game to see how the plant and the contents itself took root in the body of the horse breed that Lagi was working with for the past few weeks.

"I wonder when they would be ready? Of course, the true progress would come from when the horses start to make and the offspring that the horses produce would also maintain the silver like hooves. Then there is the testing of the hooves when it comes to how comfortable for the horses and the durability that the hooves have when it makes contact with a specific kind of terrain."

There was a lot to do, but Lagi was looking forward to all of it.

With the introduction of the Canna Hortensis and the weeks that went by with Lagi introducing the new herb like fruit and it's nectar, Lagi could say for certain that he received a lot of luck when it came to finding the herb like fruit in the first place. Not only did it prompt for the increase of the proteins of the horses inside of their body, but the hooves slowly started to maintain a metallic structure, even with the material starting to move up a little more on the legs of the horses. Their legs also started to become a little more muscular, with the stomps and gallops of the horses echoing around.

One of the horses was pregnant as well, and that was something that concerned Lagi the most.

"Can't wait till this baby comes into this world. If we did everything properly, this horse should also have the same kind of hooves that the parent does. "

If this turned out to be successful there was a good case that these hooves could withstand a lot of terrains without the need of having horseshoes and things of the sort.

"This is going well, but we would only know for sure when the baby comes. "
