Logically Sound [ Solo Job ]

He once met a farmer. The farmer in question seemed to have lost it. He practically spoke in riddles Ariel shook his head at while confused and irritated. A trail of the farmer’s strange logic lead him off the defined path, into a misty and maze-like forest. It teemed with overgrown plants diving the forest into eternal night, stealing the sunlight for themselves. For most, they simply turned their backs to the strange forest, hoped for the best, and moved outward. But Ariel barely counted as ‘most’. His curiosity hovered in the forest. It wrapped its arms around the trees and pulled him forward. As strange as the logic which befuddled his mind, it put things into perspective. It served as a reminder no ‘correct’ line of logic actually existed. Everyone thought their own logic sensible and the logic of others strange and confusing. How, in this manner, could he be certain his logic was actually sound?

His eyelids opened to the sound of knocking on his door. Beneath cold eyelashes, stony golden eyes opened. He cast a swift glance to the window. A black cat smiled back at him. Determined to rejuvenate lost energy, he ignored the rap tap tap on the long, wooden, thin, rectangular box people labeled as doors. Rap tap tap. Rap tap tap. Rap tap tap tap tap tap! The incessant, bothersome, irritating noise echoed faintly. Like a resounding drum. Constant and horrid. He swore whoever lurked behind the door aimed to induce Ariel discomfort. He tumbled from his book-filled bed and almost toppled a tall stack of books as he tripped down. He steadied himself with the aid of pages of words contained in dirty fabrics. He opened the door a slight before immediately slamming it like one might slam a book after a terribly written scene.

”Ariel, seriously? I'm not a monster. I may wear green but that doesn't qualify me as a monster. Honestly!” an exasperated Schwartz said.

Rap tap tap. “Ariel? You still there?”

Rap tap tap. Rap tap tap. Rap tap tap. Rap tap tap. Rap tap tap. Rap tap- A sigh escaped his lips. He slowly pushed on the door, only to find resistance.

“Ar-ri-el! Honestly, don't you have any respect for your professors?” he called past the wooden barrier.

“Yes!” Ariel answered a moment later.

“Oh so missing class every day is respectful?”

“What class?”

“Very funny. Get out.”

“You're smiling.”

“I'm not.”

“Liar. You're barely containing your laughter.”

You're scowling so that you don't smile.”

“And you're changing the subject.”

“Touché.”

It was an emergency. Remember the crazy old farmer and his wild animals? Well, not unusual, his livestock escaped. What had caused alarm among Magnostadt was where they escaped to. Namely, a group of animals was wreaking havoc in Magnostadt. Many residents had been rudely awakened during the night, only to find wild animals trotting around as if they owned the city. They requested the aid of the academy, asking its student to help them chase the animals and bring them back to their owner. Obviously, Ariel didn't have much of a choice but to help, which was why Schwartz had decided to cruelly bang loudly on Ariel's room.

He stood in the streets, glancing around. Clap clop clap clop clap clop. The sound of two, hollow, hard fruits smashing together in a rhythm echoed ahead of the creature causing such a rhythmic melody. He tensed and prepared himself. The imaginary clock went Tick Tock. An unordinary sight of a horse passed by from behind of him. He spun around as a skittish and pathetic beast clap clopped its way like a parade showcasing the best of it. A few minutes later he caught the timid horse off guard. Some time later, all of the slightly delusional farmer’s animals trotted cheerfully through the Plains.
