The Dark Sphere [Training]

It felt like forever since the last time she visited the library and she really hope that she could find a lot of new books there after being absent for a year... or more? She didn’t really count. Well, it was one of her favorite place in the world and she remembered how strong her desire to be able to enter the library by being patient and training so hard to succeed in her Ikhtiyar Test. The fruit for her hardwork tasted really sweet as not only she earned 2nd Kodor title, she also got access to enter the library. The first time she was there, she couldn’t believe her eyes. Countless books were placed inside, the smell of the book was addicting and the history that each of the books had was extraordinary, as expected of the library in Magnostadt Academy.

Noir walked together with her beasts, worry that someone would snatch them and probably harm them if she left her beasts to play alone somewhere. Kuzunoha who had claimed the young magician’s left shoulder excitedly looked around, liking the scenery there while Haku would just look forward as he walked beside Noir. Surely some students were looking at her with some kind of weird stare, but the black haired girl didn’t really notice and if she did, she didn’t really care because visiting the library was her top priority for now. As soon as she arrived, she would slowly open the entrance to the library and was very delighted to see it didn’t change at all. She would then walked towards her favorite spot to read, the floor at the corner and asked both of her beasts wait there as she went to look for some books.

It was amazing that there was more than a hundred new books in the library, even the ones Noir couldn’t find at the bookstore could be found easily there. There was a pile of books mounting up on her arms and made it hard for her to even walk because she couldn’t see the way properly but she made it to her favorite spot anyways. Among the books, most topic that she got was about magic research as well as explanation about rukh although some was some kind of fiction books that she planned to read later after she finished reading the research one. Before she started, she would remember about one of her close acquaintance in Magnostadt and wondered if he was still enrolling as a student or not. The last time she saw Rufus was around a year ago and at different country, he did act a little bit weird at that time though but the black haired girl decided to drop her curiosity and would start to read on the book.

Time would pass quickly and the young magician had finished several books, most of it didn’t really give her new insights or ideas about what she wanted to find out. It was until she took this book about aberrant magic, which was something that she had learned in one of her classes before but she never really try to find more information about it. Aberrant magic was a type of composite magic, formed by using multiple types of magic at the same time but it had a different ‘personality’. While almost of types of magic were a natural phenomenon caused by the rukh, aberrant magic was a calamity and highly destructive since they forced the rukh to cause natural calamities that could rip the world apart. However being a curious cat, Noir thought she could try to create something similar to that, of course she had to use it with a high caution in order to not mess everything up. After she memorized the content of the book, she was more motivated to create something new so she would put back the books to the right places including the ones she haven’t gotten the chance to read yet. She would then take out her feather before dipping it into the ink bottle and started to scribble on the paper, pouring her ideas out.

If the concept would be a calamity, then what Noir had to create was something that didn’t look like it at first and then it would turn into a destruction in less than a second. Well, that sounded like the black haired magician was exaggerating, but she really wanted to try and achieve that. Making a magic combination was already a pretty hard task as some of the combination might not work or had some kind of…weird effect?

She scribbled all the types of magic on her paper, carving theories of the combination magic that she could think of but none of them fit her vision. Then she began to think… what if she made a combination of 3 magic types at once, although she was not sure if her strength’s level could handle it. But just like the other said, go big or go home, wasn’t it? So the magician began to think, it would be a really long thinking session if she couldn’t figure out about the base magic first. Based on her opinion, she believed that Water magic was the most versatile one and therefore should be the base of the magic. But what would be the next element? She got water and lightning combination magic that allowed the water to be the conductor for the lightning, although it was a very simple one. A sigh began to escape her lips as she rest her chin on the palm of her hand, trying hard to think about it.

The girl would look around the library, trying to find any inspiration that could help her to figure it out and would stumble on the volcano painting. Her golden orbs would stare at it and thought about lava magic which was using Heat and Strength Magic together, wondering if she could make the combination of water, heat and strength magic together to create something more than a lava. She could only find the answer if she tried it, so Noir would take all of the paper and motioned her hand so both of her beast would come along with her to the empty field in Magnostadt area. If she wanted to try some kind of calamity magic, she had to find a safe place, some place where people wouldn’t get hurt by the effect of the magic. So the step that she would do was to produce some water before boiling it up with heat magic and then compress it with strength magic, what would happen after that was yet to be forecasted by Noir herself though so the girl felt a little bit nervous.

Noir would slowly breathe out as she gripped her staff and began to focusing her magoi, infusing her staff with it. Her gaze was focused, her golden orbs locked towards the staff she was holding with her right hand. At first, she would draw a circle with her staff and said, “Sfera Oscura.” The name of the spell that she just made literally a second ago allowed her to made water by using the water magic before infusing it with red rukh which allowed it to boil the water. After that, she would wrap it up with strength magic, shaping it into a sphere. She would sent it flying to the dummy that she made by using life magic before but nothing happened when the black sphere made a contact as it just popped and the hot water dripped into the ground.

The black haired girl tilted her head, wondering if her theory was wrong. But then she thought about how volcanoes work, thinking maybe she should add one more step after wrapping the water with the strength magic part. “Here goes… Sfera Oscura” She murmured to herself before repeating the steps, reminding herself to add one more step after she was done wrapping the boiling water with strength magic. With a little swing on her staff and a more focused concentration, Noir would force the boiled water to be compressed into a small black sphere, trapping it inside before launching it towards another dummy that she had prepared before.

What happened in front of her eyes was simply surprising, because not only possessing a dangerous trait, it also had a deadly effect. She witnessed a rapid explosion the moment it burst and what was left after that was a large hole on the ground. The dummy that she targeted before was missing, no traces could be found there and the fact that she just managed to make a very destructive spell surprised her. If she could determine the right situation and time to use the spell, this spell wouldn’t be something that people say as a calamity despite of the destructive effect although she had to be careful when she used the spell. A sigh escaped Noir’s lips as she hung her staff on her back again, thinking to call it a day because combining three magic types at once turned out to be very exhausting. However, she knew she have to train herself harder to be able to use such magic properly. “Training could wait… Reading books sounds nice now…” She thought to herself mentally as she walked back towards her room along with her beasts.

There was something placed on the path Noir took to get back to her room and she remembered that this strange thing was not here before, so she was curious about how it appeared. If someone placed it there, then there was a chance that this person was really good in hiding presence especially when both Haku and Kuzunoha present with Noir as she conducted her training. She sighed, didn’t know what she should do with the object, especially when it was already evening and she was too tired to look for the owner.

The black haired magician would kneel down to examine it for a bit though and by the looks of it, it was probably an egg… but what kind of egg? She could notice the sky pattern all over the egg shell, but she never knew any creature that had this kind of egg before. The golden eyed girl would carefully take the egg though, putting it in her arm and decided to just bring it with her for the mean time.
