Job Description:

Wooden Crescent:

Another day’s classes passed and Levi felt the urge to do some more work. He slowly but gradually got accustomed to the life in Magnostadt and started to like the fact that people here treated him more friendly. However, there were not many people who really knew much about him, so the odds of people getting on his nerves were rather low. He was used to many people standing in front of the various Job Boards around the Academy, so he was not really surprised to see a larger crowd of people blocking most of the Jobs- especially the easier ones. When he finally got hold of a description, he soon realized that the task might be a bit too difficult for him alone. ”While it sounds funny to teach some Assistants a lesson, they would wipe the floor with me, as long as I’m alone.” He quietly murmured, taking a look around. Was there anybody he knew or could ask for help with this Job?

xxxxxx Setekh walked down the crowded halls. He rummaged through his pockets to find them emptier than they were earlier today. There were things to do after school for a bit of money but none of them were worthwhile. Turning over to one of the less occupied boards, he leaned his hand against it. Someone was next to him, mumbling to himself about one of the listings. There was a note up that no one seemed to have taken yet. "Motivation? Tch..." Setekh wasn't amused with their needs but proving himself to be a superior magician would benefit him. "You lookin' at this too?" he asked the blonde next to him, pointing at the flyer. "I'll do it with you. So long as you can keep up," he stated. The boy didn't seem like much but same could be said for himself. If he agreed, Setekh would begin walking to the classroom this was being held in.

As it seemed, Levi was not the only person interested in the job he picked. He turned around, starting to inspect the young man who addressed him. For a moment, he thought if he knew the face, but soon decided that this man was not known to him. Levi could not know whether he was trustworthy or not; this was something the future had to show. ”I guess I can say the same. We don’t know each other, but have to work together. Let’s hope we aren’t going to regret this decision.” He followed the man and guessed it might be a good idea to get some information about his partner. ”Well, looks like we had no time so far to introduce ourselves. My name is Levi Adler, nice to meet you.” If somebody believed Levi put much effort into his words, he or she was mistaking. He spoke seriously, trying to analysis his partner. Emotion could come later. ”Any preferred method to do this job? I’m sure that I could be louder than they are.” When he said these last few words, hinting towards the magic he knew, one could find some hints of an arrogant, self-assured and slightly evil smile.

xxxxxx "The name's Setekh," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. He turned away from Levi, gazing back at him. "Louder, huh? Well I'll make sure I'm colder." Setekh chuckled at his statement. He start making his way down to the testing grounds where they would find the assistant teachers. When they arrived, they would see that there were already a few students there. Some defeated, some had been victorious but just barely. He recognized some of the people there; more or less the teachers. "Ah, two more students enter the fray," cooed one of the teachers as she twirled her wand around in her hand. Setekh unclipped his staff from his waist, spinning it around a few times to show off. "I suppose I'll start first," he mumbled, smiling. His smile was eerie. A bit of kindness resided in it yet a glint of maliciousness was in his eyes. Slamming the tip of his staff on the ground, he muttered words to the rukh fluttering around him, "Masukunda." A small trail of ice raced over to the prideful teacher. When she finally noticed it was too late, the tip of the spell exploded into a snowflake, creating a frost that crawled up her legs.

xxxxxx In a panic, she tried to move her feet but failed. In quick succession he pointed his staff at her, "Bufula." A large shard of ice formed from the tip of his staff, launching towards her. "Explosion!" A sudden shout came from her and before he knew it, two fireballs crashed into his borg, shattering it and damaging his body with the second. The shard had reached her, slamming into her borg and shattering it. A sharp, sudden pain in his head and a new person emerged. "Just die already," he spit, keeping his staff pointed at the woman. "Bufula-- and make sure it's strong enough to kill her this time." The scaled shard seemed more dense and sharp than it once was. Like it was made to kill the woman in front of him. As the ice began to melt from her feet, it went flying towards her. One of the other teachers used a fire spell to lessen the blow but it impacted her directly. The corners of his lips formed into a twisted grin as his eyes scanned for blood on the battlefield. She was certainly out of commission but not dead. He frowned but paused for a moment to think about what to do next. Setekh was fixated on another teacher as his next target but wasn't sure how he would take him.

After the two students eventually reached the training grounds, they found quite an interesting scene. Many people lay around, differently hurt, but mostly unsuccessful students, Levi guessed. He hardly ever saw any of the students so far, but he already made the acquaintance with some of the teachers. Maybe it was payback time today? Without much hesitation, a teacher perceived the two new challengers and Setekh initiated combat. ”Good luck.” Levi was not so sure if his comrade could hear these words for the battle sounds already created. Another teacher approached Levi, so it was clear who his first opponent would be. Levi grabbed his staff and prepared for battle.
For a moment, Levi thought how he should fight his opponent. He had a teacher in front of him and doubted that he would be able to simply overpower him. For now, the teachers only approached them separately, so the students should be able to somehow find a way to defeat the teachers. A one on one was still easier than a two against one, he guessed. ”We wasted enough time, right? Onde Sonore! He hoped his quick action would allow him to get some advantage and Levi gladly saw how his sound waves hit the teacher. However, the opponent still looked full of himself. Without wasting any more time or words, the teacher initiated his first attack. “Shock.” Levi had no time to dodge, so his Borg activated. Unfortunately, his defensive spell still lacked the strength to fully nullify the impact and the young student had to observe how his Borg shattered. Some of the damage was lowered, but Levi had still some damage to take. ”Not bad. Shall we determine a winner?” Levi smiled, tried to mock his opponent and to appear as self-assured as possible. He had to gain some time so that his Borg could refresh to face his next opponent. He pointed his staff anew towards his opponent, but now decided for a stronger spell. Feuler!” Now, he decided to scale his spell to make sure the impact was sufficient for his victory. The sound waves travelled through the air, emitted a high-pitched sound and hit the target. The impact was enough to knock him down, refusing the teacher to coordinate his movements for a while. ”Who’s next?” For now, he was victorious and decided that he could take on another teacher.

xxxxxx There were two teachers left, waiting for the students to make a move. Setekh's eyes locked onto the most nervous one. The man seemed to have noticed the small bits of black rukh fluttering around him. Out of fear or simply to initiate the next battle, he stepped forward towards him. "Shock!" he shouted. The electric bounced towards the young magician, striking him directly. The pain felt disgustingly fantastic. Though, his body make it clear he had taken enough abuse for today. A small trail of blood and saliva dripped down the corner of his mouth. He began laughing, gripping his staff so tightly his fingernails dug into his palms. The metal hummed as the leftover electricity flowed through it, burning his hands. "Out of my way," he muttered, spitting out the liquids in his mouth. It wasn't clear who he was talking to but the words were vile. As he used the last bits of his strength to move forward, he slammed his staff down into the ground. "Bufu." A scaled ice spike rose from the ground behind the teacher. He had tried to move backwards out of range but instead backed straight into it. Fortunately, it only sliced against his back, lifting him up into the air by the back of his shirt.

xxxxxx Setekh cursed under his breath and wanted to continue. Yet instead he fell to his knees, huffing in exhaustion and frustration. He used his staff to begin to lift himself up but suddenly a cage formed around him. "That's enough, Fahim." One of the spectating teachers flew down to the cage and smacked him on the back of the head. For some reason, it was one of the only things that snapped him out of it. The black rukh seemed to flutter away as he calmed down. "Sorry," he chuckled, sitting back onto the ground and holding his head in his hands. He lifted his head up to smile over at Levi. "Teach him what you're made of, kid!" This time his words were kinder than before. It was almost if his demeanor completely changed. The teacher lowered the cage around Setekh and cast a spell over him to heal his wounds. It wouldn't return the magoi he lost but at least he wasn't bleeding anymore. "Thanks, teach," he said, observing the last battle that was to go down. Levi seemed to be much better off than he was at this moment.
