His stay at Heliohapt had been exciting. He had labored under the sun, digging up artifacts. Then he had been given the opportunity the reminisce of days of old when Ariel had been only a child without a care in the world. He had met a particular child whom he owed a promise. There was the old soldier who had enraged Ariel for his lack of compassion. The time he had freed slaves from an idiotic master. That had been such fun. He also recalled the time when he had rescued a pair of children from leopards. Exciting, but not something he wanted to repeat. The time when a wealthy woman had requested him to check out if her husband was cheating on her. The ironic part was that it was she who was cheating. He had many other stories as well. They all would forever remain in his mind (or at least until he forgot them).

It was time for him to leave Heliohapt. His journey was looking to be about eight months to a year and a few months. He would pass by the Mainland but not to stay. His eyes gazed afar to Kou. He was curious about the recent events that had been swirling around Kou. He felt a pull telling him to check it out. He was unsure where the strange feeling originated, but he had long since learned never to ignore his feelings. They had a tendency to be very helpful in the long run. In the long term. Traveling to Kou was not useful, considering the distance he would have to travel.

Finding a ship that would transport him to Magnostadt was not a difficult task. Finding a decent ship for an inexpensive boarding fee was the hard part. Many of the ships were bedraggled wrecks due to overuse. The ones that weren't were too expensive for him to afford. He just barely made enough money to support himself. It probably would be wiser if he stayed in Heliohapt to earn more money. But the feeling was impatient and it only grew stronger the more days he ignored it. When the feeling came, it was best to respond to it as soon as possible. No sense in putting up with the stress it tended to cause.

He didn't like ships. He liked his feet on steady ground. The rocking of the ship made him nauseous. He really hated ships, but because Heliohapt and Magnostadt only had connections through the sea, he had no choice if he wanted to travel to and fro from Magnostadt to Heliohapt and back. Travelling to Heliohapt was worse than going back to Magnostadt. It was the familiarity of the ship's rocking pace that reminded him of the dreary days that he spent in an equally dreary ship. Despite his longing to return home, he wasn't going to stay home for very long. Immediately he would set off to Kou. News traveled fast. Some very interesting events had caught his attention. The recent rebellion was one such example. He'd have to resume his studied at the academy in Magnostadt someday, but for now they'd have to wait a bit.

After reaching the mainland, he wasted no time in finding a caravan that might take him to Kou. Luck was on his side, it seemed, and he found a willing caravan that he could ride to Kou. He had been wondering aimlessly when a caravan had approached him.

"You're a magician, right?" their leader asked, indicating the staff with his hand.

Ariel had confirmed their suspicions.

They asked him where he was heading. He willingly answered their question truthfully. The leader offered a ride for him in exchange for protection against any ambushes. He agreed without hesitation. He wasn't about to miss the opportunity he was so kindly being offered.
