Ariel couldn't quite recall where he had learned that lullaby. He wasn't even sure if he had even heard it before. But nonetheless, the words seemed to flow from his mouth without much thought to it. He was sure it had never been sung to him. No matter, it successfully carried him off to a peaceful sleep. In the end, while he was curious as to ho he knew such a strange song and its foreign lyrics, he did not dwell on it and nor did he attempt to uncover that mystery. There was no need, he reasoned.

He had grown accustom to singing the the soft words as he allowed the tune play around him, using sound magic. It was effective and always succeeded lulling him to sleep. It even pacified his troublesome headaches. He slipped into unconsciousness so easily with the gentle lullaby to lead him into the dreamland. How pleasant the music rang in his ears. It's tune gave him a sense of security. If he had nothing to tie him to the world, he would allow the music to forever play and never awaken again. Into a world without shadows, he would ride. His ears could strain yet they would only hear the tune of laughter. Nothing would disrupt the peaceful atmosphere. He would not ever have to take up his staff and fight against an enemy. Not one of the inhabitants would raise their hand against another. If only his dreams were reality.

The idea had come from nowhere. Something inside of him had prompted him to take such action. As it was, he was beyond exhausted to think reasonably or argue with himself. He had done that plenty, earlier, and it caused him immense grief afterward. Instead, he lifted his staff slightly. His eyes rested tiredly downward, and yet, his weak opponents prepared their fists and weapons fearfully. They had not expected much from the skinny man when they first attacked him. They had learned instantly what foolery they had been playing at. The lone magician had certainly put up a fight and had weakened them. But anyone could tell he was near fainting. And yet, he clung to conscience tightly, and he refused to let go. Never lifting his eye to his enemies, he swished his staff in seemingly random strokes. As he did so, gentle music seemed to flow all around the premises. They felt a certain heaviness bombard their bodies. Their eyes all focused upon the fierce magician who was summoning the sweetly sounding music. They watched him flee, and too groggy to fully process the information; they allowed him to.

The idea had come from seemingly nowhere according to his tired brain, but it worked well. It seemed not to have a sleepy effect on himself, but others. He hadn't expected it to be effective so quickly, however. Of course, he was far too tired to answer that. His thought process was only running in circles. He would not have gotten far while running in circles. It was far wiser to ponder upon such things while he was alert and had rested. His tired expression was quite difficult to miss.
