Alexander Nanyang [DONE] Tumblr_o06bduyPMu1sjbl43o1_r3_500

Name: Alexander Nanyang
Country Affiliation: Zou
Race: Human
Tier: D
Class: Warrior
Age + Birthdate: 20, October 1
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Personality: Alexander is a complicated individual. Tormented by the afflictions of his past, he struggles with internal conflicts which make up the bulk of his personality. Outwardly, he puts up a dry and cynical facade to mask inner feelings of conflict. He is witty, utilizing dry humor in his conversations and inundating his general social interactions with sarcasm. On occasion he can be rather blunt and insensitive. He is often not the one to speak first or start a conversation, unless he is particularly close to the person with whom the social interaction is occurring. He finds that showing weakness or emotion in a conversation is taboo, especially if the person with whom he is conversing is not a very close friend of his. If one were to look deeper inside Alexander's psyche, he would find that Alexander is distrustful of those who are well off, disdainful towards those who are devout worshippers, and empathetic towards the poor. He tries to avoid speaking to the wealthy, and stays far away from alcoholics and drug abusers, the reason being embedded deep in his history.

Alexander lives a "straight-edge" lifestyle- he stays away from alcohol and drugs, having seen their effects on himself, his family and friends. While he does not preach his way of life to others, he is generally made uncomfortable by drunkards and those under the influence of drugs. He likes to believe that his abstinence from harmful substances improves his well-being and combat prowess. His focus is set on becoming a better person and overcoming the struggles and obstacles he faced in his youth, and finding purpose in a life that once held no meaning. He sees himself as a man on a journey to reform himself, and inspire others in need while doing so.

Alexander is an efficient fighter; he utilizes speed and precision to land accurate strikes and immobilize his enemies, thus making them much easier to cut down and defeat. In the midst of battle he is generally calculative; he always looks for intuitive ways to bring down his opponents. In a competition, he never kills his opponents, showing restraint and mercy. However, in a situation where either his ideology, his life or the life of a loved one is threatened, he adopts a different mindset, shifting to a more ruthless style of combat which revolves around causing as much pain to his opponent as possible. This sort of behavior is reminiscent of the way he would act in the past, and he struggles to contain his anger and negative emotion in confrontational situations.

Likes:

  • Peace and Quiet: Being alone in a quiet place gives Alexander time to reflect upon his being, as well as his place in the world.
  • Inspiring Others: This is definitely a Mary Sue trait; however, Alexander had dealt with many hardships in his life as a young man, and hopes to inspire those who are currently struggling to keep fighting and never give up.
  • Spicy Foods: He likes the sensation of his mouth burning.

Dislikes:

  • Alcohol & Drugs: While Alexander is definitely not an avid promoter of his straight-edge lifestyle, he does not show any willingness to involve himself with drugs or alcohol.
  • Lazy People: If you spend your whole life on your ass nothing will get done. Ever.
  • Mirrors: When Alexander stares into a mirror, he sees his reflection, as well as the reflection of his past wrongdoings, staring back at him. He feels like this will make it impossible to escape from himself.

Aspirations: Alexander aspires to escape from his troubled past and recreate himself- essentially, to rebuild from the ground up. It is impossible to forget traumatic events that already happened- however, it is possible to move past them and allow them to further the development of a strong character. Alex's goal is to develop this strong character, move past his origins, and further himself as a person. He also wishes to become a master at the arts of combat.

Phobias/fears: Alexander's main fear is relapsing into the person he was in the past. His hatred of his background, his family problems, and who he used to be compound; the negativity of his experiences spur a fear of having to live through them again. One of his other major fears concerns his former issues with drugs and alcohol- were he to fall back into such a lifestyle he would violate his current "straight-edge" code of honor. He also fears spiders (generally kills them on sight) and has trypophobia.

Face-Claim: Guren Ichinose, Owari No Seraph
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Violet
Height: 6'1 (185cm)
Weight: 88.4kg (195lbs)
Appearance: Alexander is a relatively tall, well-built man. He has a lean body with a fair amount of muscle on his bones, and he is very limber and flexible, which aids him in the execution of acrobatic combat techniques. His face is handsome and sculpted; due to a genetic mutation his eyes are violet, a pigmentation generally considered unusual as it is not common among other humans. His hair is dark, and frames his face in a way that gives him a mysterious sort of aura. He walks with good posture, and generally wears a dark-colored officer's coat and black cloak with loose-fitting combat pants and high black boots. His casual attire is generally loose-fitting, and consists of whatever shirt and pants he finds around his living quarters that he deems comfortable enough to wear.
Rukh Alignment: White
Special Features: N/A.

History:

Neon Lights, Nobel Prize,
When a mirror speaks, the reflection lies...

-Living Colour, "Cult of Personality"

Alexander Nanyang was the third out of Lucian and Celeste Nanyang's four children. He was born into a poor family, living on the outskirts of the Kou empire. His father and mother were both laborers, working long days for little pay. They were often out of the house, leaving Alex and his siblings on their own. Alex had an older brother, Shiro, an older sister, Lilian, and a younger sister, Akiko- often times when his parents were out Shiro was in charge of the kids. This would typically yield positive results; the Nanyang children generally stayed out of trouble under their big brother's watchful eye. Alex had always looked up to Shiro; he seemed more like a father figure than an older brother, especially since his actual father was out of the house so often.

Generally, after work, Lucian and Celeste would meet up and stop by the bar near their house to drink away the aches of the day. Unfortunately, they often consumed more than their bodies could take. The pair were generally very rowdy drunks, and after leaving the tavern (or being kicked out) they would stumble home in a sort of aggressive stupor.

Now, the media has provided an excellent image of the horrors that alcoholic parents can inflict on their children. However, in the Kou empire, the emperors and high officials did not have troubled families in the kingdom's poorer districts on their agendas of problems to solve. Upon arriving at home, the Nanyang kids did their best to stay away from their parents; getting in their way would generally incur a beating. Alexander always thought that other kids went through the same issues, and everybody's parents would return home in the same conditions as his, so he never spoke up about it.

One day, Shiro had been watching over his younger siblings. Their parents were still out at work; however, the night was coming, and it was certain that they would return home soon. He rounded his brother and sisters up, and sent them to their shared room in order for them to stay out of the way of their parents. However, instead of going with them as he normally would, he stayed and waited for his parents to enter. He planned to confront them and try to persuade them to change their habits. Of course, he did not tell the younger Nanyang kids any of this plan.

When Lucian and Celeste arrived, Shiro stopped them at the door. An argument erupted; the parents' slurred voices as well as their eldest son's started at a more or less regular volume but found themselves in the midst of a violent crescendo. As speaking turned to yelling and yelling turned to screaming, Alex, who had been in his room with Lilian and Akiko, became curious to see what was going on outside. He told his sisters to stay behind as he ventured out into the hall, peering into the house foyer where the pinnacle of the noise was emanating.

Eventually it crossed Lucian's mind to strike Shiro. In his drunken state, he at least realized that he didn't need to listen to his unfilial son criticize his ways any further. Shiro had taken a number of beatings in his life before, but never fought back, as he considered it a sign of disrespect. Furthermore, he knew it was pointless to fight back against two aggressors without proper training in combat. He planned now to do what he had always done in the face of his parents' aggression; he would wait until they grew bored or tired or sick, and quietly retire to a quiet place to meditate on what had happened.

But there was something different about this. With every strike- with every punch, kick, and slap, Lucian Nanyang seemed to be more enticed. Perhaps it was Celeste's screeching and shouting that egged him on- or maybe it was his eldest son's defiance, his cold disrespect, that spurred a deep anger within him. He did not tire; the beating continued without toil. Eventually, Lucian and his wife began to strike their son with various objects in the vicinity. Some had edges; some were very heavy. Shiro never found it in him to fight back. All the while, Alexander, 11 at the time, covered his eyes with his hands. When the shouting stopped, and the sound of strikes faded, he removed his hands from his eyes and surveyed the scene. His unbreakable big brother lay broken and unmoving in the center of the room, blood pooling around his body. Alex remembered crying more that night than he had ever cried in his life. His sisters cried as well when they heard the news. That night he made an important decision.

He was leaving.

It was big of an 11-year old boy to decide to run away from home; but considering the circumstances, Alex felt justified in making the decision he made. That night, while his sisters slept and his parents had passed out, he grabbed his most important possessions and walked out. He never once looked back. Kou was a big kingdom and there were other kingdoms in the world for him to visit; he planned to beg for food and shelter, and live free.

Unfortunately, as cliche may have it, Alexander found himself spending time with the wrong crowd. His interests slipped; his ambitions changed. He became involved  with the same sorts of substances he was taught to avoid by his brother. The people who he surrounded himself with pressured him into a lifestyle full of drugs and alcohol. Eventually, Alex began to loathe mirrors; he spent most of his teenage days making bad choice after bad choice, until he no longer valued his life. When he saw his reflection he saw a plethora of failures staring back at him. Failed ideologies, failed plans- all thrown away at the hands of substance. However, he cared more about how his peers viewed him than how he viewed himself. Like most kids his age, he wanted to fit in. His hair had grown long and unkempt, and he had let go of his appearance; he was thin almost to the point that he looked constantly sickly- but at least he had friends who "accepted" him.

Only after he witnessed an acquaintance violently surrender his life to an overdose did he quit using substances. (He was 17 at the time.) Alex realized that there was more to living than trying to fit in; he decided to abandon his prior lifestyle and adopt a new one- one without the influence of alcohol and drugs. He had seen his parents, his brother, and his friends destroyed by the cruel, addictive nature of drugs. It was once again time to leave town and start anew, but this time with a truly different mindset. Alex shaved the long mass of hair off of his head, as if ridding himself of his old identity, and left Kou to travel to a new city.

This new mindset involved complete abstinence from addictive substances. For the next three years he traveled the world; the Kou Nation native found himself in all sorts of places he never imagined he'd visit. He had heard of a great coliseum in the city of Reim, and he decided to visit. Upon arriving, he checked this coliseum out and quickly gained an interest in fighting in front of an audience. He found a street-fighting club and tested his skills in battle for cash. Through doing this he became more and more fit; he found new mentors in the fighting world who helped him improve as both a competitor and a person. One of the goals he decided to set for himself was to help motivate others struggling with issues he once struggled with to overcome their problems.

To this day, however much better Alexander's life had become over the past three days, he still hates mirrors. His reflection is obscured by one with long hair and sickly pale skin. Even though he's changed his personality and he is sure that the reflections lie, he cannot escape the feeling of being haunted by the past. Recently Alex has used his past self as a motivation to keep getting better at what he does.

I really love the history!
But since you have Black Rukh for your character, I would like to see how that could happen in the history. How he got the black rukh? and what kind of event that triggered it? It needs to be a very devastating moment, or at least some kind of very bad past that could make his rukh becomes black.
Maybe after spending time with his "friends", he began to feel that it is wrong and the world needs to change because apparently it didnt give him a "nice" fate, thats one of my suggestion.  But it is up to you on how he got his black rukh ^^

Everything else is good though~ :3

Bump.

The thing about working on apps at 2AM is that sometimes you forget to change things- .ie I meant to change the Rukh color to White after finishing up history. XP

That was my bad.

The young man with raven black hair scooped up a handful water from the washbasin and ran it over his face, washing off the blood that had been trickling from his nose and mouth. He was still a new competitor in the industry of prizefighting; therefore, he deemed losses such as the one he had just suffered to be fairly commonplace. At least, he tried to convince himself of that. As the water flowed down his countenance, he felt a strange sense of refreshment. The woes of the past, gone- draining from his body into the earth.

But then he saw the mirror that was positioned right above the basin. Staring at the reflection, he wondered what he really saw. At first, he saw his past. He saw long, matted hair, pale skin, drugs and alcohol. He saw failures, he saw peer pressure, he saw anger, and he saw sadness. Disillusioned, he blinked his eyes rapidly as the image in the looking glass began to change. He no longer saw failure; he saw what he truly was- Alexander Nanyang, a man tried and trying, successful so far in his pursuits to achieve a better lifestyle.

That made him feel a little bit better about losing. The feeling of refreshment had come back, as the last few drops of water rolled off of his skin.
