Personality: Masuma Nejem is a quiet and observant young woman from Heliohapt. While first impressions of her tend infer that she is shy upon further inspection it is apparent that she simply prefers to think and formulate her words and actions before doing anything. She is very inquisitive and hardly takes anything at face value. Her ideal use of free time is learning something new or training her body and mind. This naturally causes her to stay in the background of situations and come across as reserved in most situations, especially involving strangers. However it isn't that uncommon for her to step into the spotlight of a situation if she thinks she can help or contribute positively in anyway.
She is also a very stubborn and goal oriented individual, but not unreasonably so. When she sets her mind on something she sees it through until the end, but she does know when to step back and put things on hold when she has to. She is also defined by her devout reverence to her gods and goddesses through daily prayer. She is also quite innocent in the department of love having only ever dealt secretly with a few crushes. As she spends so much time learning she hasn't ever really made many friends and as she gets ready to learn more about her craft she is also seeking to make friends, and perhaps a little romance as well.

Dislikes:
- Blasphemers & Traitors: Any who would talk bad or turn their back on their deities, friends, families, or beliefs are the lowest of the low in her eyes.
- Ignorance: Not to be misconstrued into hatred or dislike of the ignorant Masuma instead hates the existence of ignorance itself. That said she understands that everyone has to be ignorant first before they can be knowledgeable and that is why she strives to learn all she can.
Aspirations:
- To become a master magician: The gods granted her the ability to use magic and she felt it was her duty to use it to the best of her abilities in their name.
- To serve her gods faithfully: Since she was little Masuma was surrounded in a very religious atmosphere. Ever since she could ask questions she was give the answer, "Because the Gods made it so." While other children rebelled against this Masuma was amazed by the Gods and has sought to be a vessel for their voices with the aspiration to become a priestess.
Phobias/fears:
- Large Bodies of Water: Having grown up in the desert where the only bodies of water were small lakes and ponds at the rare oasis Masuma has never learned to swim. As such large and deep lakes, seas, and oceans terrify her and as such she avoids prolonged voyages over open water, opting for the longer land routes whenever possible.
- Losing the Favor of her Gods: Since she has dedicated her whole life to her Gods the worst thing that could happen to her is to lose their favor.

History: Masuma Nejem is the only daughter and twin sister of her brother, Mahir, and youngest child of four. Her next oldest brother, Imad, is three years older than her (17) and her eldest brother, Hakim, is two years older than Imad (19). Her father, Ikram, is a wealthy domestic and international merchant, member of Heliohapt's International Trade Department, and her mom, Zaida Nejem, is a magician and daughter of a wealthy family who owns one of Heliohapt's largest oasis towns. It was clear from early on that Masuma was also a magician like her mother when in a temper tantrum at two years old she threw up an unstable borg.
At first this gave her mother extreme pride as none of her sons had inherited the gift of magic from her. However as Masuma got older strange and ominous things started happening around her. Pets would get strange injuries, come down with illnesses, and eventually they died. Masuma also slowly withdrew from everyone causing her family to seek help. Through therapy sessions and the use of Clairvoyance magic it was discovered that Masuma had natural talent in figuring out how to use magic and unfortunately the magic that was coming naturally to her was poison magic.
At the time all of this was discovered Masuma was five years old and given the nature of the magic she was turned over to the Northern Temple under the care of Seth, the high priest of Anubis, and the rest of the priests and priestesses of Anubis at that temple. This was done because the magic Masuma displayed was attributed to Anubis, the King of Hell and the Netherrealm, and also because Seth directly oversees the markets and their trade meaning he knew the Nejem family.
While Masuma was in the temples care her family came to visit as often as they could and after a few years of living and training at the temple Masuma moved back with her family, but she still spent most of her time at the temple. It had been her time there that she had come to terms with her magic and learned to hone it in an environment that assured her that she was able to use the magic for a reason, though only the gods knew what is was.
Now at 14 Masuma has decided to go to Magnostadt to meet other young magicians and learn more about magic. As a minor and a girl she is not allowed to go by herself so she is being escorted by one of the priestesses of Anubis from the temple who is also a magician as a chaperone. The orginal plan was to sail directly from Heliohapt ro Magnostadt, but Masuma managed to convince her chaperone, Ramlah Darzi, to head into Reim and set sail from there. The reason for going to Reim was twofold in that she wanted to see what Reim was like, and in that she wanted to delay sailing after taking a look at the ocean and nearly crapping herself and fainting.
Role-Play Sample: Xun sat under a olive tree off the side of the road sharpening her daishō set in the outskirts of Balbadd territory. Several years back she had made this most excepting nation her new home while not of in search of power, though she had never formally joined the nation. Sitting where she was she could see in some distant future raising kids in this nation and wouldn’t object to settling in permanently she knew now wasn’t the time. Only when she had completed her goal to gain access to magic and fulfill her promise to the city guard at Magnostadt could she settle down.
With a quick inspection of the edges on her katana and wakizashi she put up her whetstone and oil before wiping her blades clean with a rag and sheathing them. Standing up she reattached them to her hip and placed her pack on her back. So far her six years away from her homeland have proved fruitless in her search for power so she was headed to the home she abandoned all those years ago.
