Name: Xun Ning
Country Affiliation: Wanderer
Race: Fanalis-Human
Tier: D
Specialization: Strength
Age + Birthdate: 5.1 (really 21) + February 29th
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Pansexual
Personality: Xun Ning, much like any other with fanalis blood, is rather short tempered in nature, but more so than most fanalis-humans. Oddly enough one of the very things that sets her off the most is any reminder that she is of Fanalis descent. Ironically though she refuses to cut off or dye her hair as while she hates the reminder of who and what she is she knows there are benefits to leaving her hair alone. Chief among those reasons is quiet simply that people tend to leave red heads alone if they have ever heard of the Fanalis race which suits Xun just fine after her childhood. She also rather enjoys using the fact that her hair is blood colored to intimidate people either passively, or when appropriate, intentionally. Being pansexual she often finds herself attracted to anyone who can keep pace with her in a fight. An exception to her attraction through combat is if she is fighting anyone of obvious Fanalis or Kuo decent, as it would take more than matching skill in a fight for her to get over her prejudices towards them. However anyone who is above or below her skill grade in a fight just pisses her off and chances are either or herself will come close to dying, or on a bad day actually dying. Surprisingly though she does have a sweet and gentle side that peeks its head out every now and then when she is able to form a positive bond with an individual.
Likes:Magic, she has always viewed magic as the premier source of grand power. Sure physical strength is nothing to laugh at but it lacks the versatility of magic. So deep is her love of magic that she grows resentful at the sight of magicians do to an over whelming enviousness of their power.
Achieving a goal, for Xun there is hardly anything that can trump the feeling meeting a goal. It is an immediate gratification of all her hard work and perseverance. The harder the task the better the sense of self reward which keeps her stead fast in her determination to achieve anything she has set her mind to.
Dislikes: Fanalis, she has long hated her Fanalis blood due to it preventing her from becoming a Magician. Also the only Fanalis she has known is her father, and to say she has daddy issues coloring her vision of the race would be an understatement.
The Kuo Empire, she has long hated the tyranny and methods of the Kuo Empire's war machine and has long wished she lived in Balbadd. Ironically the very reasons she hates the Empire deal with traits she herself possesses. To achieve power at any means necessary.
Aspirations: Xun has but one goal in life, to gain magical power. Her father, instructors, magicians and anyone else who have ever heard her talk about becoming a magician simply use her hair color as a method of mockery to suggest she give up your fruitless cause and accept your fate. Sadly her stubborn and hot headed nature caused her to be unable to do so and instead fuels her on to find a way to gain magic power. In her virtually fruitless efforts to get around her unwanted blood inheritance she came across mentioning of dungeons and djinns. Most, and even to an extent herself, consider these murmurings and stories as nothing but legend, but as it is her only possible source of the power she desires she clings to the hope of finding a dungeon and getting its powers no matter what she has to do.
Phobias/fears: Xun’s greatest fear is that the rumors she has heard about dungeons and djinn turn out to be false. More accurately speaking the fear is more to do with not being able to obtain magical power, which without a dungeon or djinn Xun sees no way to achieve her goal. When confronted with the fact that her aspiration and only goal in life is not likely to happen usually someone gets to tell first hand how strong her Fanalis ancestry makes her. When alone and her search for power leaves her feeling hopeless she often cries silent tears and vocally curses her heritage and the fate that made her who she is.
Face-Claim: Morei Tenma-Kajiri Kamui Kagura
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Red
Height: 160.1cm (5ft 3in)
Weight: 54kg (119lbs)
Appearance: Xun is a fairly short woman standing at 160.1 centimeters and weighing 65kg, which is mostly muscle weight. Her hair almost extends down to her feet, is crimson red in color, and is strait in nature. Her eyes are a matching crimson red color for the irises and her skin is rather pale for someone with Fanalis parentage, though this isn’t to uncommon among Fanalis-Humans. With the way she walks, talks and simply gestures Xun she gives of an air of confidence and authority. For the most part she has an on off switch for her emotion the off position being relaxed and the on being aggressive. For her the switch is very sensitive but her eyes express a shift in emotion before they actually happen. The observant person can spot her eyes firming into a stare and back of preventing the switch from happening, and while harder to utilize the same can be done through interaction while she is aggressive to reverse engineer her emotional status back to a more relaxed on.
Rukh Alignment: Black
Special Traits: N/A
History: Xun Ning is quite the contradiction to normality as her heritage is that of two peoples that normally are at each others throats. Her father is a Fanalis and her mother was born into and raised in the Kuo Empire. He parents through unlikely love conceived her shortly after being married, but their celebration of becoming parents was tragically cut short. Due to unexpected complications Xun was born a month early and her mother died a few days later. Having been born in the Kuo Empire Xun’s father gave her a fitting name based off of both heritages his daughter had inherited. For her Fanalis heritage he gave her a Kou name that means fast, sudden and for her last name he gave Xun her mother’s maiden name of Ning with the meaning of peaceful, tranquil.
Having abandoned his people when he married a Kou woman Xun’s father stayed in Kou to raise his daughter for several years, but before long he saw to much of his wife in Xun’s face and simply could not take it any longer. So when Xun turned eight, or as she prefers to view her age 2, he sent her off to a warrior training school so that he wouldn’t have to face his dead wife every time he saw Xun’s face. The training she received was grueling and just as gentle as the Empire's expansion into Reim.
Her instructors know full well of her heritage, from both the letter her father had sent the school and her red hair, pushed Xun to her limits. Whenever she failed to live up to their standards they would send the more advanced students after her to teach her a lesson, and also to test her skills in a situation where she would have to use them to the best of her abilities. This went on for several more years until she had enough and attempted strike an instructor with her sword at the at of 15, 3.3 by her books, and was promptly kicked out of the school.
After returning home and listening to her father’s enraged lecture Xun packed up in the middle of the night and ran away to live the life of a wanderer. She simply had enough and knew that if she had stayed she would wind up in a different warrior school which, quite frankly, was the last place she wanted to be. She had learned several years back to keep her desire to be a magician to herself, but never gave up hope that she could one day over come her heritage and be the first person of Fanalis blood to become a magician.
Her desire learn magic lead her on a journey to Magnostadt over the course of the next 2 years. On her way she stopped in several cities, towns, and villages in hopes of finding a magician willing to help her discover a comparable magic she could learn. Unfortunately what few magicians she came across simply thought she was joking at best, and condescended her at worse. It was after one such encounter that she was approached by a stranger who simply told her, “Dungeons are real.”
This incident quickly enough faded from her mind as the ramblings of a crazed individual. Upon reaching Magnostadt, Xun tried and failed to gain entrance to the city as she was unable to procure anything of magical ability, but not for a lack of trying. In the end she just made a fool of her herself and was further humiliated by the taunting and jeering of those who witnessed her attempts. It was only then that she truly accepted that her fate was to not be a magician, and it was then that she renounced her fate as a whole. In a fit of rage she cursed out her heritage, Magnostadt, everyone who told her to give up her desire for magic, and the very universe itself.
So utterly infuriated was she that her little fit caused her to leak rukh that visibly turned from white to black right then and there. With a vow to return some day to the city and enter it she stormed off suddenly recalling a simple statement that once she had dismissed, “Dungeons are real.” This simple phrase and proving it right became her goal in life. If she could get a dungeon she could get power and if she got power she could wipe the smug and pompous looks of all her naysayers. The next 4 years had Xun wandering the world in search of anyway to prove dungeons were real, and to hopefully receive one herself, and now after leaving 6 years prior, Xun found herself back in the Kuo Empire as she hadn’t found luck else where in her search for a dungeon.
Role-Play Sample: Xun sat under a olive tree off the side of the road sharpening her daishō set in the outskirts of Balbadd territory. Several years back she had made this most excepting nation her new home while not of in search of power, though she had never formally joined the nation. Sitting where she was she could see in some distant future raising kids in this nation and wouldn’t object to settling in permanently she knew now wasn’t the time. Only when she had completed her goal to gain access to magic and fulfill her promise to the city guard at Magnostadt could she settle down.
With a quick inspection of the edges on her katana and wakizashi she put up her whetstone and oil before wiping her blades clean with a rag and sheathing them. Standing up she reattached them to her hip and placed her pack on her back. So far her six years away from her homeland have proved fruitless in her search for power so she was headed to the home she abandoned all those years ago.
