As always before a Coliseum match, Garret set his equipment up, preparing ahead of time for any eventuality he may face. He began with his first layer of clothing after his undergarments; simple fabric that was flexible and kept close to the skin. It was a full-body suit that came in two parts, and covered him from head to toe. In normal summer weather, the block cloth would be extremely uncomfortable due to all the heat. But there were different clothes for that season. Over those clothes was a padding layer which afforded minor protection but, more importantly, a wide range of movements from his limbs. Garret affixed a pair of bandoliers on top of this layer. One crossed his right shoulder, making its way to his left hip, while the other seemed to look more like a belt. The pouches held different things for different situations. Potions, smoke bombs, flash bombs and even a dagger that would allow one to defend against light magicians.
Garret cracked his neck from one side to the other, working out his joints and doing a series of quick warmup exercises. Once that was complete, he strapped his weapons down. Desceld hung on his left hip, secured in place. He placed a custom-made weapon holster upon his back, the straps being secured beneath the bandoliers so that the bandoliers hung over them. Spritely Plague Shield hung upon his back, though a few centimeters off. Between the empty space between the shield and his back was a spot reserved for Marux, the umbrella that was made of Rampaging Unicorn horn. Garret rolled his shoulders, distributing the weight comfortably as he gathered the last of his items and secured them in place. He picked up a gauntlet and looked at it, slightly amused; his Hex Gauntlet. Not something he used often, Garret strapped it to his belt anyways. Fully equipped and ready for battle, all that remained were the pieces of his 'costume'. Garret gathered the double layered robes, placing them over his body to conceal his equipment, with his wand Kuroi Shimo tucked squarely in his left sleeve. Walking towards the exit, he picked up the jingasa straw hat, as well as the shakujo monk's staff that was little more than an ornament. He walked out of his base of operations, and made his way to the Coliseum...
He soon found himself in the Arena's hallway, his name having just been called to appear for his match. He punched his fist against the wall a couple of times, amusing himself with the familiar ritual before entering the Arena. As always, the jeers from the stadium filled the arena, yet Garret was used to them by now. He stood at the start point, 50 meters away from the entrance door on the far side of his opposition's door. Garret watched and waited.
