As always before a Coliseum match, Garret set his equipment up, preparing ahead of time for any eventuality he may face. He began with his first layer of clothing after his undergarments; simple fabric that was flexible and kept close to the skin. It was a full-body suit that came in two parts, and covered him from head to toe. In normal summer weather, the block cloth would be extremely uncomfortable due to all the heat. But there were different clothes for that season. Over those clothes was a padding layer which afforded minor protection but, more importantly, a wide range of movements from his limbs. Garret affixed a pair of bandoliers on top of this layer. One crossed his right shoulder, making its way to his left hip, while the other seemed to look more like a belt. The pouches held different things for different situations. Potions, smoke bombs, flash bombs and even a dagger that would allow one to defend against light magicians.

Garret cracked his neck from one side to the other, working out his joints and doing a series of quick warmup exercises. Once that was complete, he strapped his weapons down. Desceld hung on his left hip, secured in place. He placed a custom-made weapon holster upon his back, the straps being secured beneath the bandoliers so that the bandoliers hung over them.  Spritely Plague Shield hung upon his back, though a few centimeters off. Between the empty space between the shield and his back was a spot reserved for Marux, the umbrella that was made of Rampaging Unicorn horn. Garret rolled his shoulders, distributing the weight comfortably as he gathered the last of his items and secured them in place. He picked up a gauntlet and looked at it, slightly amused; his Hex Gauntlet. Not something he used often, Garret strapped it to his belt anyways. Fully equipped and ready for battle, all that remained were the pieces of his 'costume'. Garret gathered the double layered robes, placing them over his body to conceal his equipment, with his wand Kuroi Shimo tucked squarely in his left sleeve. Walking towards the exit, he picked up the jingasa straw hat, as well as the shakujo monk's staff that was little more than an ornament. He walked out of his base of operations, and made his way to the Coliseum...

He soon found himself in the Arena's hallway, his name having just been called to appear for his match. He punched his fist against the wall a couple of times, amusing himself with the familiar ritual before entering the Arena. As always, the jeers from the stadium filled the arena, yet Garret was used to them by now. He stood at the start point, 50 meters away from the entrance door on the far side of his opposition's door. Garret watched and waited.

Lagi sat in his royal balcony in anticipation; he wondered who this crim challenger was in the first place. This man managed to defeat all of these opponents in order to simply receive the right in order to challenge Deimus the destroyer. Lagi had a mini flashback of fighting Decimus the destroyer and had a loud shutter. “OH NO! I am never doing that again, that damn chain!” Lagi was referring to the ball and chain, that thing seriously had unlimited reach. In the meantime, Lagi pulled his servant girl on his lap so she could keep him company during the fight and give him some wine.

“And….showtime!”

Azix sat among the jeering crowd, though he did not participate in booing Crim. The mysterious fighter was confident enough to fight Decimus which intrigued the orange magician. The straw jingasa that Crim wore reminded Azix of his homeland, another curious observation that was filed away. What the magician really wanted to know though, was if he would actually get to see Crim fight.

The obnoxious shouts towards Crim began to grate on Azix's nerves. Feeling rebellious, Azix stood up with his fist in the air and shouted, "GO CRIM! YOU CAN DO IT!"

Some of the people around him turned to glare at him, but Azix simply shrugged, "Gotta root for the underdog, right?"

Bahir walked through the stadium seats and politely made his way across the seated spectators. Muttering an "excuse me," or a "pardon me" whenever he would inconvenience someone. He was doing something completely new today: watching a Coliseum match. He had always been interested in competing in them and decided to see what it would be like. The fanalis finally found his seat and quietly took note to the jeering and screams from the others in the crowd. The man's name was JUST called out and everyone around Bahir went into an adoration frenzy. The young red eyes, however, focused on the figure heading into the arena, curious as to what this man could do and who he would be fighting.

Out of curiosity, Ayero decided to attend another one of Crim’s matches. Ever since her conversation with the mysterious mage, she wondered more and more about his fighting style. Was it really so important to him that he had to keep it hidden during numerous matches, garnering death threats and jeers from the crowd? While it didn’t seem to her like the man was bothered by such things, she had heard through the coliseum grapevine that some of the high-ups had made several attempts on his life outside of the arena.

She didn’t think she’d be able to learn anything else about him from watching another snow-obscured match, but she went to the coliseum that day as a spectator, figuring that in the most she’d be able to catch something she didn’t see in his previous match. Scanning the stands while looking for a decent seat, Ayero spots Lagi in his viewing box, arching a brow at the pretty servant girl in his lap. She stifles a chortle as the crowd begins to boo the cloaked fighter, one voice ringing out above the collective taunts. Was…someone actually cheering him on? Her eyes followed the source of the sound, coming to rest on the familiar features of Azix. Surprise made its way onto her face and she begins to approach the orange magician, giving pause when she sees a familiar head of red hair out of the corner of her eye.

”You didn’t choose a good day to come here.” Ayero swiftly takes a seat next to Bahir, leaning back into it as her eyes sweep across the arena. She hadn’t seen the other Fanalis in a while, and was a little surprised to see him here. ”This guy isn’t known for putting on good shows…”

Decimus glowered at the man in front of him, his gaze making the man quake.

“We… we are just saying… make sure he dies…”

Decimus grunted and shoved the man to the side. Now was no time to be distracted with the rabble of the people running the Coliseum. He always put his best effort into each fight, but he did not do it for the riches or for the men running the Coliseum, he did it for the thrill of knowing he might die. If fact, he had died against King Lagi and, if not for the intervention of a mystery voice, he might still be dead. He picked up his bastard sword and made his way to the arena.

He stood, his hair swaying as he stared at his opponent, the elusive Crim. No one had yet seen how the man won in battle and Decimus could admit, it piqued his curiosity. Though he did not put much effort into studying up on his opponents, to have no knowledge of how they had won enough matches to make it to this point… it was unusual and thrilling. It should be quite the fight. He rested his bastard sword on his shoulder and smirked at Crim, waiting for the signal to start.

Garret watched as his opponent entered the arena. His jaw dropped and his eyes widened as he saw Decimus approaching. Gathering his wits about him once more, he squinted to make sure he wasn't seeing things. No... That is definitely him... But why?! Garret was unsure exactly what was taking place here, and looked at the equally stunned crowd before they started shouting his name with a fervor of excitement. They... They did not announce him as my opponent! Grunting, Garret brought himself back to reality.

Instead of an incredibly flashy entrance as before, Decimus arrived in a fairly standard manner. It seemed as if they had intentionally hidden the fact that Decimus was fighting today. When he had last seen Decimus fight, Garret had mentally gone through a variety of combat simulations while keeping in mind the techniques he had seen in the fight from before. There was no room for hiding anything here. Nor... Nor is there a need. This is my final opponent. Garret threw the shakujo to the side; the monk's staff that those who normally watched his fights believed to be his magic conduit. The next thing that was thrown off was his jingasa hat, to give him a full field of unobstructed vision. Lastly was his cloak, which had covered the miniature armory he had hidden from normal view. Garret pulled his Spritely Plague Shield from his back weapon holster, wielding it, alongside his wand Kuroi Shimo, in his left hand.

The magician simultaneously slid his right hand into his Hex Gauntlet, equipping that as well. Though he had removed much of the gear that hid who he was and how he fought, Garret's body was still fully clothed and his appearance was not readily discernable. If anyone recognized the man, however, it would have been Azix who knew what kind of equipment Garret had. The Magician took a low stance, crouching forward and making himself a smaller target. The gong to begin rang and Garret, who was 50 meters away from Decimus, began moving forward. His shield was angled and held facing Decimus, on a horizontal plane halfway between the ground and his face. He moved in a light job at 2.5 m/s, closing the distance and keeping his eyes on Decimus' movements.

This fight... Will be difficult.

Decimus arched a brow as his opponent began shedding the items that shielded his identity from view, smirking when he heard the crowd give a roar of satisfaction. This was the first time the man had shown his face so openly, but it meant little to Decimus. For all he cared, the man could keep his coverings. Decimus did not care if he was fighting a king or a peasant, as long as they could give a decent fight. With the look on his opponent’s face, Decimus felt a thrilling stir in his gut. This man was prepared for a serious fight, he was not like the cowardly king, who relied on his blasted dragon pet to stay out of range. This man, he appreciated the brutal honesty of a good fight.

Decimus was pleased, though he would still need to test the capabilities of this opponent. All he knew was that the man was a magician. He would not taunt this opponent, already sensing the serious nature oozing from Crim. As Crim approached, Decimus used Shot Put once his opponent was within range to launch the ball of his mace at the man, testing Crim’s reactions to the attack. He could feel his blood pumping, it had been too long since he had fought an opponent without having heard a word about his fighting style.

Garret continued to close ground between Decimus and himself, gauging the man's body language. The man stood there, watching Garret's forward jog. Five seconds passed. Ten. At eleven seconds, Garret noticed a movement from Decimus; a second later Decimus shot forward a Shot Put, the very technique that had set up the taking down of El Drago from the sky. Recalling Lagi's beast dodging the ball and then being trapped by the ball's return shot, Garret took a slightly more direct approach against the technique. There was very little movement that was required from the Magician, as his shield was already up and ready to intercept an attack. Garret prepared his Simple Block.

It seemed as if the flow of time stopped at the moment Decimus launched his attack. A light blue hue, gentle to the eyes, pulsated from Garret's Hex Gauntlet. It was the Lizzy's Sapphire that was attached to it. A strange force, much akin to a flow of water, suffused the Coliseum arena. Decimus would find his strength weakened. The power of the Shot Put seemed to halve itself as if the air itself was dense and too difficult to move through.

The shield Garret was wielding, and the technique he had used, would stand up against Decimus' strike. The weight of the attack was still great enough to give Garret pause, and the Magician was temporarily unable to close more distance. Keeping his eye on his opponent, Garret continued to move forward while noting whether or not Decimus returned his Ball And Chain.

If it were left on the ground, Garret would trail his shield to his left side while taking a fencer's stance of his right side facing Decimus. He would burst forward in short bursts, keeping an his eyes primarily on Decimus and on the chain to make sure it was not retracting and he would have to worry about an attack from behind. Otherwise, if Decimus already retracted his Ball and Chain Garret would resume his forward motion to meet the man in close combat.

OOC:
Since he attacked me 20 meters away, I'm not going to write a counter attack yet. I want to be in melee range before I start attacking, and I don't want to assume I get to him without him using any other techniques ^_^.

Decimus left the ball on the ground where it had landed, admiring the mage wanting to meet him head on. This opponent fought like a true man, he did not hide behind a beast or in the air, he met his Fate head on. The lack of more damage from his magic tool confused him slightly, but he was never one to let himself become distracted by the small things. Even if he were permanently weakened for the fight, it simply made it more exhilarating. It was as though the mage accepted that he would not have a chance at Decimus at full power and had leveled the playing field. It had been a long time since he had felt the thrill of an equal battle. Decimus retracted the ball to 10 meters before using Roundhouse Slam in an attempt to knock the magician into the air. His grip on his bastard sword tightened reflexively, he would be ready the moment Crim came into range to swing the blade.

As it was something he was specifically looking out for, Garret noted the retraction of the Spiked Ball and Chain. Thinking that it was the same technique that he had seen take down El Drago, Garret sustained Simple Block and braced himself for the damage. The strange field of energy continued to envelop the two men who were dueling, and the strength of the attack itself decreased from Lizzy's Sapphire. When the two techniques clashed, Garret found that the attack that Decimus had sent his way was not quite what he imagined it to be as his feet left the ground and he was sent flying into the air.

A man of opportunity, Garret quickly formulated a plan as he pushed off of the spiked ball with his shield, giving him a small amount of control of his airborne positioning. Facing Decimus, Garret cast Ice Explosion while pretending to do so on the fly and in a wild manner. The ice would shoot clear over Decimus' head by 5 meters. "SHIT!" Garret pretended distress while watching Decimus' reaction. His obfuscation may not actually trick the man, but Garret was hoping to leverage it if he could. Once the ball of ice moved a total of 16 meters forward from Garret's position, it would explode and strike those within its blast radius.

Decimus smirked as the magician became airborne, eyes watching carefully as an ice ball was launched towards him. When it came within five meters of him, Decimus used Rocket Punch to extend his fist to meet with the attack, crushing it in the air. After destroying the attack, he would use Unnatural Speed to rush towards Crim as he was in the air, waiting until he was just under two meters away to swing his bastard sword at the magician. He was hoping to use the magician’s time in the air to close the distance and deal a bit of damage. His heart was pumping rapidly, adrenaline flowing through his veins.

Garret fell from the sky, and as he did so he noted how Decimus began moving forward, getting ready to bat at him during his descent. The Coliseum legend got to the magician just as Garret was a little over two meters from the ground. Garret wasted no time, en-canting his spell Water Manipulation Technique. The spell was a basic one, but the strike Decimus was using did not scream of the same danger as the attacks he had used before. It flowed forward against the sword swing of the warrior, pushing his attack away and allowing Garret to land on the ground.

When he did so, he repositioned his shield as he had done before while casting two new spells; Ice Blade and Blade Burst. Above Garret's head, angled towards Decimus who was now in front of him, appeared a blade of ice at an incredible speed. This blade of ice swung in a clock-wise fashion, aiming to cut into the man's upper torso and arms. While the first ice blade was being generated, Garret had cast the other spell. To the left and right of Garret were two balls of ice that orbited to Decimus' left and right. They both transformed into blades of ice that fired up towards the man's armpits, as if they aimed to bite into the man's joints. During the castings of this, the Hex Gauntlet and, more specifically, the Lizzy's Sapphire continued to dampen the power behind the attacks being dealt.

Decimus expected the magician to do something to deflect his basic attack and remained unperturbed by it. When Crim cast the first spell, Decimus tensed his muscles to prepare for impact, arching a brow at the cuts that should have been stronger before realizing that whatever was making him weaker also made the magician’s attacks weaker. He used the last of his Unnatural Speed to remain close to the magician. He did not even tense for the next icy attack from Crim and used his sword to perform Bastard (sword) Buster, attempting to damage the magician’s borg. Without wasting another moment, he used Unnatural Strength to buff up his attacks and the swung his fist twice to jab at the magician. He needed to destroy that borg if he hoped to take his opponent down.

As the Bastard (sword) Buster came at Garret, the Magician simultaneously ducked and raised his shield, performing a Veteran's Block against the man to defend against the heavy strike. The blow nearly lifted him off his feet, and Garret instinctively knew there was no way for him to put distance between himself and his opponent. Decimus would continue to press forward, giving Garret no breathing room. Just as he thought this, a fist appeared from below his shield as Decimus' Jab met Garret's Borg. Grunting, Garret immediately sustained Ice Blade and Blade Burst. During his casting of the last spell, Garret simultaneously grabbed his Rejuvenation Potion from his bandolier. He took a quick swig from it, feeling the refreshing liquid empowering him.

This time the blade from Ice Blade formed just in time to clash against the second Jab, cutting into the man's arm and stopping the attack from landing. By now, Garret's shield was lowered enough so that he could get eye contact back on Decimus as the two balls of ice moved to the Garret's left side, firing off and once again aiming for Decimus' shoulder joint, as if the continual strikes would eventually remove the limb from its socket.

Decimus grunted as his jab was intercepted, the damage vibrating up his arm. Knowing he could not continue to simply eat the damage, he used Bronze Skin, the second attack having no effect on him. He was becoming frustrated with whatever was muting his attacks, convinced it was nothing more than some cheap magician's trick. Decimus growled and used Whip Slash to try and crack the borg of the magician under the force of the hit. It was useless to try and use regular attacks that the man was simply batting away with spells. Decimus panted as he jumped back after his attack, putting several meters between the two of them.

Garret sustained his Veteran's Block as he watched a Whip Slash come at him. Grunting as the attack hit, Garret braced himself as his feet were pushed back and called upon the power of the shield as Four tiny Sprites, equipped with tiny weapons flew out of the defensive equipment and attacked Decimus from four directions. These ethereal creatures did their best to inflict their plague upon the man.

He began to sustain his prior spells as well, both an Ice Blade coming down to slice at him from an angle from above, and his Blade Burst working to hit the man's arm once more. The fighting style Garret was using was rather unorthodox for a Magician, many believing that Magicians were practically defeated once in close range. Decimus frowned at the tiny sprites trying to stab him, rolling his eyes as he ignored the tiny thorns trying to drive into him. It seemed to be slowing his senses, but not causing damage. Both ice spells hit their mark, but Decimus remained focused on his fight, raising his sword up and performing Brute's Bash to try and hit the magician’s borg once more, the magoi manipulation technique hopefully causing more damage to the borg surrounding Crim. He following this up with a basic slash from his blade, and then another slash. He was getting angrier by the minute at the muted damage he was dealing, but he would not be deterred. His arms were suffering from the repeated hits but he was not able to truly block them anymore, he could only hope the magician would become exhausted soon.

Garret began drawing his blade, Desceld, from its scabbard just as Decimus' was coming down on the Magician. The Kou man had enough time to sustain his Ice Blade, though it did not come in time to intercept Decimus' attack. Garret's Borg flared into existence, eating the attack from Decimus and deflecting the sword to the side as it did so. In the meantime, the ice blade made its way to create another cut on Decimus' arm while Garret sustained his Blade Burst as well, focusing it all on his right arm. The repeat abuse, the Magician hoped, would make it only possible for the man to use one arm.

In the meantime, Decimus continued his assault with his blade. Bringing his shield to bare, Garret defended against the first basic slash with his Spritely Plague Shield and followed up by attacking Decimus' other arm with a Basic Strike of his own. When the next strike came, Garret defended against it, too, with his Spritely Plague Shield. In a normal situation, the speed and power the man had behind each blow would have been so great that he would have had a tough time defending. The mixture between the plague that was coursing through Decimus' veins, making it easier to react in time to his strikes due to its weakening nature, as well as the force-dulling ability of Lizzy's Sapphire made this combat possible. Just as he deflected Decimus' second strike, Garret once again returned a Basic Strike of his own to the man's arm.

It was at this point that he burst around Decimus, taking advantage of his superior speed and striking at the man's left shoulder with another Basic Attack in hopes of landing another blow to him.

Decimus had not been prepared for how slow he had become after the sprites’ attacks. His arms were becoming too weak to hold up his bastard sword, the weapon normally light enough to carry in one hand. And he still had not managed to break the magician’s borg. At the end of his rope, Decimus went for broke, using his Boa Bind to attack Crim. It left him drained and his eyes dripping blood, but if it went through, the borg would break and the magician would hopefully be immobilized. He was not sure how much of his attacks the odd muting spell effected, but he could not do much else, aside from use his most powerful ability.

The speed of Decimus' attack was incredible, and Garret had no time to react to it. Right in front of him a mass of hair shot forward, slamming into his Borg and causing a great deal of pressure against the Magician. The Borg began cracking, straining under the force of the blow as Garret was pushed back, even though he was attempting to brace against it. The Borg shattered, the Magician's eyes wide in surprise, and the hair began to make its move to finish entwining against him.

The Borg had done an excellent job at what it was meant to do, and it had bought Garret that small fraction of a second of time to cast his spell Controlling the Currents. Water gathered from the air and rushed by Garret, slamming into the hair of the Boa Bind and wetting it down. The efforts that Decimus had put behind his technique was being pushed back by the power of the water.

Garret began moving quickly as the dregs of the spell fell to the ground with Decimus' hair. Dashing backwards a few meters, the blue magician called upon a hidden trump card; Prison of Water and Ice. A large volume of water gathered in front of him, enveloping Decimus in a 15 meter ball of liquid. Shortly thereafter, it froze, encasing the man in a tomb of ice. Garret did not stop there. Casting Ice Phase upon himself, he began to walk forward.

The fight had been incredibly draining. He had never imagined that such a man existed. If it weren't for the experiences he had faced in Kou, Reim and the Imuchakk lands, he never would have stood a chance. The basis of my training in Kou... The martial arts I learned in prison during my incarceration in Reim... The dungeon that was conquered by Azix and I... These were all necessary for my victory. Garret continued to walk towards the ball of ice without slowing down, thinking nothing of it, yet the crowd would undoubtedly wonder what it was he was doing; he was about to walk into a solid block of ice.

As his body came into contact with it, however, he slid into the solid ice. It parted gently, by his command, and the magician made his way towards Decimus with Desceld in hand. His breathing was ragged, the efforts of the battle having exhausted him nearly as much as it had exhausted Decimus. Garret walked until he was half a meter away, the ice between the two just as solid as ever. Garret struck Decimus' leg, beneath the knee, once with his sword. He struck the leg, this time above the knee, again. The ice had lowered the man's blood pressure, keeping him from bleeding profusely. Garret continued the macabre dance around Decimus, cutting his other leg in the same manner; once above the knee and once below the knee.

Moving to Decimus' front, Garret performed a cut across the Coliseum Legend's chest, and finally followed up with one last cut upon the man's arm. He walked up, close to Decimus, and whispered in his ear. "You are an incredible opponent, but there is only so much you can attain by staying within these Coliseum walls... That being said, you forced me to use almost everything I had at my disposal to fight on par with you. Do not despair, however, as today you have faced against a legend equal in fame as yourself; Lizzy's Sapphire, the gem said to have quelled the rebellion of a country. That is the degree of which your power is measured by." Garret listened to whatever words Decimus had to say before walking out of the ice prison and awaiting judgement.

Decimus struggled from within the ice prison, unable to move in the slightest. When Crim came near, the ice seemed to part and accept him as the master of this chilled domain, allowing the magician to slash at his limbs with devasating attacks. Even with the ice, the cuts hurt, the lack of blood not reducing the pain caused. Crim’s word acted to reassure Decimus that his strength was still being judged on a higher level than most, the famed gem having been believed to have disappeared ages ago. But it still upset the Coliseum legend that someone had used it to tarnish his Coliseum record.

“You will face your death at my hands one day, fighter. On that day, I will ensure the gem is not nearby.”

He became silent then, knowing he was defeated.

When Crim exited the ice prison, his win was announced, the crowd evenly split between cheers and jeers. It upset many that their legend had been defeated again, but most were pleasantly surprised and thrilled to have finally seen the elusive Crim’s face.

((Win goes to Garret))

The match was definitely a spectacular event. “Another well-earned victory against the immortal man I see! Bravo...Magician ”Lagi would say this  tapped the servant girl on the leg in order to signal her to get off of him and proceeded to  exit the arena. “   You done well to defeat the immortal man, you might be ever stronger than you look. “ This might be a blow to Decimus’s ego; there was no point for them to fight again if they already got what they wanted from them. Today marks the day of another legend killer, it’s a good thing that he’s currently not on the side of the enemy, or maybe he is

Ayero’s eyes widened as Crim began to strip off his outer layers, grabbing Bahir’s shoulder suddenly in excitement. ”HA!” She exclaimed loudly, unable to keep a wide grin from sliding onto her face. She had not expected for the coliseum legend to enter the ring, nor had she imagined that Crim would fight unaided by his snow spell. ”Nevermind all that. It looks like this will be a fight worth paying close attention to.” She leans forward in her seat, eyes glued to the two fighters and adrenaline pumping through her veins purely in anticipation.

Ayero’s gaze never left the pair of fighters for the duration of the match, struggling to process seeing both Crim’s and Decimus’ fighting styles for the very first time.  As a warrior she was in awe of them both. Crim had flawlessly combined his magic and physical fighting skills from what she could only guess to be years of training and refining his skills. ”So he is strong…and clever, too. He was right.” Her mind turned towards Decimus, still unable to believe that Crim had beaten the man known to be the pinnacle of human strength. ”And him…now that I’ve seen what he can do, perhaps…” Ayero breaks from her trance, shaking her head while the slowest of smiles appears on her face. ”Good job, Crim.”

Azix watched the start of the fight carefully and arched a brow when Crim removed his hat along with his cloak. He was shocked to learn that the fighter whose matches had been obscured by snow was Garret. A hearty laugh boiled forth from Azix as it sunk in and he shook his head. ’Of course it would be Garret. He wouldn’t have wanted to give Decimus or anyone else a chance to see what he is capable of.’ No matter what the Immortal sent Garret’s way, the blue magician managed to get the upper hand and quickly brought Decimus to his knees.

Azix left the Coliseum, hoping to find Garret so he could ask his friend for pointers. After watching two people fight Decimus, Azix was itching to challenge the titan himself.
