It had been just over a week since his battle in the Coliseum, and Yua had returned after setting the body of Hana Cho in the cold cavern to the north. The ice would stay as-is, and allow Garret the time needed to research into an appropriate spell to handle the situation. Though he could have simply asked Azix for help, he did not want to bother the man. With the Kou soldiers and troops that were making their way into Reim, Azix had plenty enough to worry about with the Opportunity Hall and Workforce Initiative.
It had finally become the day for Garret to participate in his second Coliseum match. He had mixed feelings, now that he had gone through with taking the corpse from his previous fight. Will I hesitate..? He searched his feelings, thinking on what occurred, and Hana Cho's face flashed across his mind and he felt unsettled. Should I... continue..? Or should I Stop? No. I will do what I must... If they agree to silence, there will be no need to finish them. The thoughts swirled through his head as he made his way to the waiting room. When he arrived, many of the same gladiators from the previous time were there. He had done some research, and knew their general gladiator history a bit better. Rufi, the disgruntled old man who had tried to stop him from leaving the last time; a crowd pleaser, and a veteran of the Coliseum. The archer Aquilla Attica; a while back she had suffered grievous wounds in a fight against a light magician, but her skin treatments were going along nicely and she was still a crowd favorite. Bosson, the large man who welcomed Garret to the Coliseum and who got in a verbal altercation with Rufi; a man who was known for his brutality in the Coliseum, and his efforts to end matches quickly rather than drag things out. He had a less than honorable reputation, with whispered rumors of behind-the-scenes tampering of other challengers to get them off their best condition.
As Garret, acting under the pseudonym 'Crim', looked at those in the waiting room Bosson approached him. "Rookie! I heard about what happened yesterday! I'm impressed, most of us don't go so far as to hide our fights! You're aiming for something else, aren't you?" The man's large open hand moved quickly, as if to slap him on the back in encouragement; yet there was hidden hostility in the man's intentions, and Garret's Borg flared up. The official who watched over the waiting room called out, sharply. "Bosson! We warned you just the other day. If we catch you again, that's a five match winnings penalty!"
Garret looked towards the man. His Borg had taken a considerable amount of damage with such a simple 'attack'. He turned towards the official. "I would like to request a postponement of my match. I am no longer in my best sha..." He was cut off by a quick hand motion from the official, who shook his head in the negative and looked at him with pitiless eyes.
"No. You will fight your match, and if you refuse you will be barred from the Coliseum. Your opponent today has been looking forward to fighting you for some time now; Jin Cho. The name might sound familiar. Now go over there, sit and wait." There was no room for argument from the official, and Garret grit his teeth as he took a spot on one of the waiting benches. Shortly after, Bosson followed and sat next to Garret, just a meter away. "So, nobody knows what you're capable of, but you seem to be the real deal. Cold-hearted killer. Care to share what your goal is, at this Coliseum?"
Beneath the Jingasa hat, Garret's eyes narrowed. His voice took a hard edge. "Get lost, or risk losing your life." He pointed the staff towards Bosson as if preparing to cast a spell. Inside his sleeves, he held his wand just in case things did end up turning ugly. The threat was not exactly an idle one, yet it wasn't so serious that Garret put his full effort into it.
"Ha. If you kill me, then you'll have to fight everyone in here. Nobody wants to be hit with collateral damage, and everyone knows that once a magician gets serious large portions of people start losing limbs and lives. Are you ready for that?" Bosson started loosening himself up, as if to get ready to attack. As he did so, the rest of the Coliseum participants began drawing their weapons in what looked to be agreement with Bosson's comments. The official began edging his way towards the exit, more concerned for his life than anything else.
Garret took this all in at once. His anger mounted, mixing with the confusion from his regret at having killed Hana Cho. He wanted to be left to his own thoughts. Yet those around him seemed to want to drag him into their inner politics, and play tricks on him to get him to lose face. The next words he said were full with the intent and will to carry them out. "Then that just means I will have to kill everyone in this room, right?" Some of the weaker Coliseum participants had already begun to leave, as well as the more experienced ones; the heat from the Magician's anger, and the haze of power radiating from him, were all they needed to know how serious he was. Yet others stayed; some archers, waiting for the moment he attempted to make a move. Another magician, looking as if they were in a defensive position and ready to mitigate damage. Rufi and his group of veteran warriors, each of which were holding onto a shield and ready to defend themselves against attack. All of them had grim looks upon their faces.
Bosson stood there, in front of Garret, looking down upon the magician. There wasn't a single emotion of fear, doubt or worry upon the man's expression and body language. A deep laugh from the man cut the atmosphere. "Woa, there, buddy. That was a joke. Just a joke. Calm down, and good luck in your next match, okay?" The man looked at Garret, shrewdly sizing the blue magician up, before walking away. The air felt awkward, and the small conversations that broke out here and there after the individuals put their weapons away were even more-so. Everyone was on edge, and nobody let their guard down despite the fact that Garret backed down once Bosson moved away.
Shortly after, Garret's 'Coliseum name' was called upon to enter the Arena and face his opponent. Garret looked back to the official's desk; the man had came back and was sitting behind it once again. Ah. That's right... Jin Cho, was it? I wonder how I will face him. As he walked down the hall towards the Coliseum, he idly watched a wounded participant walk back. Will I be able to send my opponent off, without killing him? Unlikely. He will be out for blood. Garret began to punch the wall as he got nearer the end, using the slight pain to clear his mind. He believed they would not send somebody weaker than Hana Cho to defeat him. Not when he had killed her...
