The gate had shimmered with radiant golden light like something you might have expected to have some from the heavens. Quite coincidental that he had just said that gods didn't exist, because he was being shown existence of higher powers... higher powers that had some sort of obsession with showing off. He couldn't help but wonder what was happening, his hand pulling off instinctually, before they vanished in almost a literal poof of smoke.
The area where they had been sitting just sat there, empty and devoid of any actual sign that they had been there at all. Thankfully, Geas hadn't slipped out of his grip as he blipped across the world. Still, the main issue was that they were leaving a platoon full of surprised, confused Fanalis to guard the entrance to the dungeon. A couple of them, battle-hardened veterans, merely snorted at this thing as if they had expected it all along
"Bloody magicians."
The thing that surrounded Alek was unlike anything that he had ever seen. It was like he was captured in a moment of space-time... although what was somehow weirder was that he appeared to be able to breathe in space. Looking around in shock, he noticed his companion, and for a moment considered helping her up.
Then he remembered she was arrogant, and that if he tried to give her help she would likely kick him in the nuts just because she was a "strong, independent woman who don't need no man". Still, considering the bizarre nature of this experience, he was glad beyond measure that he wasn't having to go through this alone.
The journey along the golden path seemed to stretch on for hours and yet, at the same time, last only fleeting seconds. Whatever this place was, weird didn't even come close to describing its seemingly physics-bending existence. Yet, by the time that he had finally finished his journey from one end of the path to the other, he found himself in a gigantic expansive hall.
How a place that big from the outside could have something like this in it... it seemed impossible, but he was no architect. This was clearly magical, so maybe the size itself was nothing but an illusion designed to play silly buggers with the mind. Calling over his shoulder without bothering to look at her, he asked an obvious question.
"So... considering the fact that we just got teleported across space time to some unknown giant hall in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere... Is there actually any way to get out?"
