It was that time again. Bahir was ready to improve himself, even if it was just a little bit at a time. Day two approached swiftly as Bahir made his way to his training grounds in the dimly lit sky. He was out there before dawn, again. There was something about the coolness of the air before the sun lit the world that the young Fanalis thoroughly enjoyed. Perhaps it was because he was so used to being in the darker areas.

Either way, for what he had in store for today, Bahir would need as much time as possible. The young Fanalis looked at the makeshift practice dummies that he made out of the trees. With a grin coming onto the man's face, he drew his dagger out of its scabbard and held it in his right hand upside down. He cocked his arm back and pushed off his back leg, twisting his body and sending his dagger in a downward horizontal slash. Disappointed in how slow his strike was, he drew his arm back and tried again. Slowly getting faster with each swipe. Bahir could feel the difference in his speed of attack, but it wasn't satisfactory enough for him. If he had to guess, the speed of the strikes were at 11m/s. It was a nice speed, but he could do better. He knew it.

Before beating himself up too much, he repeated the exercises with the opposite side of his body. Bringing his left arm up to the same speed. Without too much of a pause, Bahir switched arms again. Trying to push himself even further. His goal was 15m/s. He could feel himself getting closer and closer to the slashing speed that he wanted. One more switch! He began swiping with his left hand once again. He wasn't thinking about it, but he hit his goal. Each hand was striking at 15m/s. As the sun began to descend, the Fanalis sat against one of the trees, trying to catch his breath. Deciding that this was enough for today, Bahir stood up and walked back towards town.

Day two!

Today, Bahir was not going out to his usual practice area. This time, he decided to stay within the main city. He had to make sure he was still able to stand on his toes. Well, move within the shadows anyway. It had been a while since Bahir was made to be sneaky and move about unseen. This would be one of the few wake up calls that he needed. If he couldn't sneak about the people of the city, then he definitely needed to spend a bit more time on the basics that his father had taught him.

The Fanalis closed his cloak around him and lifted the cloth below his neck so that it covered the lower half of his face starting from his nose and cheek bones. He stood in between two of the buildings of the city, hiding in the dark alley created. He quickly eyed his next location. It was beneath an awning. In one mighty leap, Bahir found himself in the shadow of the awning, the people walking by not paying him any attention. The question was, was it because they could not detect him or that they were busy doing their own thing. Either way, he continued. Finding another shadowy area, Bahir leapt towards it at 15 m/s. Again, he kneeled in that spot for a moment. Watching as a few people passed by him. His heart jerked for a moment when a child lost his ball and it rolled over next to him. The ball was right next to Bahir's knee. This was it, the big test. The child came over and picked up the ball, looking from one side to the other. After a moment, the boy shrugged and ran back over to his friends, laughing. A sigh of relief came from Bahir's mouth. He stood up and lowered the cloth and stepped out from the shadowy area, startling a few of the people that were standing there.

With a quick bow in apology, Bahir made his way to where he was to lay his head for the night. That was good to know that he hadn't forgotten everything he was taught. It actually gave the boy a bit of confidence in his job.
