job:

The man eater was currently gorging himself upon a most recent prey when he heard a voice utter a large, exaggerated gasp. His face that resembled who he once was would snap behind himself in order to find the source of this alarming sound. Standing there, making prayers to one of the many gods of Helio, was a guard armed with a standard shield, khopesh and shield. He was wearing light, leathery armor since the day of the desert gets hot and this also allowed better maneuverability. This unfortunate soul had been on patrol by himself instead of with his usual partner since they were stretched thin tonight and he had to cover another sector. Now he was all alone and face to face with a massive snake like creature.

When a guardian of a city is faced with an unknown entity there is only really one reasonable thing that they could do. The man would run straight at the giant snake braving the beast. Babi would tense for a moment as he was faced with a trained warrior and was contracting his muscles so that he could strike. However, he would become confused and befuddled as the man’s following actions were counter to what he had expected to happen. As soon as he was directly in front of he would dig the tips of his blades into the sandy ground beneath his feet before spinning around, causing the sand to fly up into the air creating a cloud of debris that would end up blinding the giant creature. This was Wandering Sand Style Sandstorm that was taught to several of the guards and used against groups or when at a physical disadvantage such as a size difference. Once Babi was blinded the guard would start sprinting at full speed past the strange beast. The goal was of course to get as far from the beast as he could so that he could get help and alert the city of this monstrous entity that was an unknown factor but clearly a threat to the people that lived here.

The half human, half snake hybrid would thrash his head around as the sand stung his eyes. His head would accidentally slam into one of the buildings since he was in a confined space of an alleyway. The foundation would crack and there were noises all around as the residents of not only this building but the surrounding as well would wake up. It was only a matter of seconds until he could see again but he had lost sight of the guard. He had to find the morsel before he was able to alert others and bring danger or harm to Babi. The man beast had to keep his calm if he was going to properly handle this situation. If he lost his sense of rationality now he would only bring ruination upon himself. He would shake his head in order to clear it before going to pursue the guard.

While he had lost site of the newly designated prey, it was a happy moment that he was not a beast that relied on his sight such as humans do. His sent was powerful and sometimes overwhelming but in this situation was more than helpful in finding the trail of the one who fled. He would begin his pursuit down the maze of alleyways while his tongue darted out occasionally in order to help him track down the scared little mouse. He would grin as he was gaining ground on the guard. The drunkard was faster than this since he was unencumbered by armor and weapons. The snake did not have to cut through buildings and risk revealing his presence this time.

The guard was making some good ground but made the mistake of turning around and seeing the voracious glutton close behind. He would turn around, ceasing his flight as he goes to chase the serpent who was currently lunging at the man in an attempt to swallow him up. He would quickly grab his shield and hold it up to block the attack and completely reject his initial onslaught. This would cease the initial attempt but the human would be pushed back greatly due to the pure brute strength from the monstrous thing.

Now this man was not someone who was overconfident in his abilities and thought he could dispatch such a being. No, in fact he knew he would not make this but all in all his job was to protect the city and this beast was something that could topple everything they have worked hard for here. He was a threat to the peace and stability they have maintained despite the war that had just recently ended. He would inhale before shouting with all that he could muster, “BEAST! MONSTER! SERPENT! ALERT THE CITY AND….” As he was showing the large serpent would swallow him, devouring the quick thinking guard without a second thought.

He could no longer take his time with things. The guard was more cunning than he expected, leading the former urchin to a more populated area in order to gain the most attention while generating the biggest chance of the snake being spotted by the local populace. He could not shrink down to his smallest size due to the prey he had just consumed so he would not be able to hide properly until he returns back to his nest or lair. He would shrink to about half his largest size so that he could move quickly without having his body morphed from the still writhing corpses inside him.

As he was making his way back to his chosen lair he would hear sounds of the mice stirring and squeaking. The armored meal had most definitely stirred up the rat nest and made it dangerous for him to continue hunting. He would have to resign to hiding in his home for a while until the commotion died down un a few days or weeks time. Thankfully it would be a while till he needed to feast again after this two for one special. He would rest until his hunger required him to go and hunt once more.
