Guard Duty [Private/Job]

The architectural design of the mansion might have been a standard sight for those who reside above the rest of the populace, but for those who dwelled under, it would always be mystifying. The polish-work that went into every nook and crevice would stand out heavily compared to the crude designs of commoner-housing. Even the carefully put together temples of Kou would sometimes fail to compare to such design-work, Mori’s temple especially. No matter, he could stand still for hours and contemplate such things.. not out of wanting to persay.. but out of boredom.

Mori is absolutely bored out of his mind. He has been standing still in one place for the last four to five hours now with nothing better to do than admire the architecture and scenery of a noble’s manor. What a drab way to spend his time. His quarterstaff being held within one of his palms, he’d plant one end of it into the carpet that was at his feet. Standing tall like a guard normally would was certainly not something Mori was even trying to attempt at this point. The weight of his body was supported not by his legs, but by the staff he’d pressed into the carpet; the end of which actually crumpled the tight-fitted carpet enough to tear it.

He’s been at this for about six days now. At first the old man had seemed one-hundred percent sincere in his assumption that someone had been targeting him, and were actively trying to hurt him, or even worse, kill him, and he definitely still believed this to be so. His paranoia was prevalent in his day-to-day tasks, he would have Mori accompany him everywhere, even to the restroom within his own home! It took a lot of convincing on Mori’s part to allow him to stand outside of the old man’s room as he slept. If this job didn’t pay as well as it did, Mori would definitely think twice about staying as long as he has. Not a single dust within this entire mansion has been disturbed by a foreign entity since his arrival, and it will most likely stay this way.

However.. just in case, Mori did have a plan. At the start of the job, Mori took some liberties in lining the entirety of the old man’s bedroom with strings and bells, nigh invisible to the untrained eye. He did this with all curtains within the room closed, but if someone were to even take a step within, Mori would most certainly hear it from outside.. If he didn’t fall asleep on the job that is. If someone didn’t show up tonight, he was certainly going to take what he’s made so far and book it, he had a feeling that his patience was being tested.

Tl;dr: It is night time. Scene is set in noble’s mansion, specifically outside of the “elder noble’s” bedroom door. Mori stands infront of door, and has waited for over 6 days for something to happen. Noble’s bedroom is lined to the brim with string and bells that will ring upon anyone making the slightest movement within.
