@Noir Ecryola | i am in fact pretending that dumpsters/public garbage disposal/any sense of hygiene exists for the alley cats joke i'm sorry
it had been some years since he first arrived at kina’s hovering hills to temporarily stay with relatives. (stay was a loose word, perhaps. more like wander around, returning to kina periodically.) maybe that was why he had never gotten around to joining his family’s clan. maybe that was why, several years after having moved to kina, he was running around looking for lost supplies to gain favor with the kazeharu clan.
this was, despite the fact that mita had already been living on kazeharu grounds. though, he was considered a “guest,” not a permanent fixture. it would have bothered him less if the kazeharu clan didn’t have a reputation as investors, but so they had, and, so, with the kazeharu clan boasting a healthy, economic stricture (as well as not immediately jumping to murder anyone who decided they did not want to stay, morihana), he was rustling in the garbage, like someone might have accidentally thrown out a box of assorted mundane items.
it was, quite frankly, gross - and he could feel it all over his scars. if he sniffed himself, he suspected he would find what disappointment smelled like, for there was garbage and garbage alone to be found. with a grimace, he rolled out of the dumpster, feeling exactly how one would expect to feel after rolling through the trash. (he should take a shower. thank the fuck he wasn’t wearing his usual get-up - cleaning stains off of leather was annoying; he could not just magic it away.)
“nothing,” he said to the black-haired lady, who was supposedly also looking for kazeharu’s lost goods. (honestly, how does one misplace so much, anyway?)
“bet someone’s already made off with the load,” he grumbled. wasn’t the first time he made a comment to that effect. wasn’t going to be the last time - not when he was literally dumpster-diving for kazeharu’s accidentally absconded supplies. (it wasn’t like he didn’t want to join kazeharu - it was just that he hadn’t expected it to come with a wild goose chase.)
they were supposed to find scraps - preferably a trove, but whatever they could scrounge would do just as well.
“well. i don’t suppose you might have a better idea than this?” he waved his hand at garbage that fell out while mita was going through the garbage bins.
