  • [ Manipulative ] Merari is a deceptive, two-faced liar who will use others to achieve what he wants in life. He isn’t afraid to hurt those around him, strangers or acquaintances if it means that he can get what he wants. In order to do this, he uses different faces when confronting others, using a front that would help him most in a situation. He can be described as sly, and he does his best to weave half-truths and lies into his words. He’s always thinking of ways to continue with his lies while attempting to never reveal himself.
  • [ Strategic ] Merari is always planning, always thinking of possibilities and what he should do to move him in front of others. He rarely does something without consulting about the possible consequences and resulting events. This ties in straight with how manipulative he can be.
  • [ Secretive ] Merari never directly tells something about him, and when he is forced to, he doesn’t completely reveal himself. He has a thousand secrets and never breathes a word of them. He uses half truths and lies to protect himself and his thoughts, and he does his best to deceive other into thinking a certain way of himself. But, he’s still not the best with it, and he tries his best to be sly.
  • [ Envious ] Merari tends to feel green whenever he sees other people. He can’t help but think about their lives, and how they may be better than his. How they may have families, or how they may have things that he can’t possess. It makes his skin crawl, and he always feels disgusted.
  • [ Ill-tempered ] While Merari is able to hide his true emotions, Merari typically feels ill-tempered. Like a pot of water with a top that’s about to boil over and explode. The feeling irritates him, which only serves to make him even angrier. On his worse days, it’s harder for him to keep u the persona, and he often worries that someone might see.
  • [ Thirsting for Knowledge ] Merari, for all his faults, is a curious person. He hasn’t seen most of the world, and he’s interested in what’s out there. Maybe if he wasn’t so bent on revenge his life purpose would be discovering more about magic, such as more about how it could be used along with more types of combination magics. A topic, or rather type of item, that has gained his attention during his studies in Magnostadt, are Magic Items. He wants to figure out how they work, where they come from, and if he can create one.
  • [ Vengeful ] Arguably his biggest trait, Merari is a vengeful person. If you do something wrong to him, he’ll never forget or forgive. He won’t care what you did to him, and if he ever finds himself with the time, he’ll repay the favor. It’s this trait that drives him to hunger for the deaths of the Kuraba.
  • [ Possessive ] Ever since losing so much at such an early age, Merari has grown to become possessive of his things, even if they’re people he’s grown close to. He won’t let them leave, even if it’s of their own according, and if they try he often ends up losing his temper.
  • [ Vain ] Merari is obsessed with his looks and how he presents himself. Everything is meticulous and well kept when it comes to his appearance, and he never comes out of his room without ensuring that he is beautiful. The “prettiest” part of Merari is his hair: it’s the most stand-out part about the boy and it’s easily the most well kept.


Merari is a finicky young man who can be described as both paranoid and crazed. A devastating event in his youth has twisted him into something worse than what a child his age should be, and if one were to enter his mind, they could see it. He’s filled with dark thoughts, and he spends each moment of his day worrying about his plans. He’s nothing short of sly, manipulative, and gluttonous. He despises others for anything they have that is better than what he has, and he grows attached and possessive of any possessions he gains. Even humans can be “his” in his mind. It’s either that, or they’re stepping stones to be used in his plans. As he grows, nothing will be crossing the line for him, especially if it means that he can accomplish his goals.

But that isn’t to say that there’s some good in the boy. Despite his ill-temperance and vengeful nature, Merari can actually have moments where he’s a curious teenager. In reality, Merari is just the worst version of a child, something that could be changed if someone caught his descent. But it’s unlikely that he would let anyone get in his way, even if they are his loved ones.

  • [ Music ] One of Merari’s remaining connections to his parents, music always manages to soothe him. When he’s upset or grumpy, if he just breaks out his staff and plays some music, without using Magic, it calms him.
  • [ Eating ] Merari finds that when he’s eating, he doesn’t think much about his goals or his family. Like music, it’s a break from his thoughts as he enjoys something simpler in life.
  • [ His Hair ] It’s not far off to say that Merari takes marvelous care of his hair, better than some girls, even! He takes the time to brush his hair twice daily, after waking up and before bed and makes sure to keep his hair well-kept and clean.

  • [ People-Watching ] Anger tends to bubble up in Merari when he watches other people. He always tends to focus on the happier people, the people who are laughing and enjoying a simple life. He envies them and he hates them. He, often mistakenly, believes that they have luckier lives, free of hardship.
  • [ Perceptive People ] Whenever Merari is around someone who’s more perceptive than other people, he always feels nervous. Like they can see through him, that they can figure out what he’s thinking and that they know. The feeling scares him.
  • [ Animals ] Like perceptive people, Merari feels uncomfortable around animals. He feels like they can always see through him, that they know what he’s thinking and feeling. It makes him angry, and he often feels like wanting to kill them just to get them to stop staring. The only exception to this rule are crows, birds that he feels like won’t judge him.

The first goal is something that Merari knows that he will need for his other goals, and it’s also a silent pleasure. His interest has always laid in magic, and Magic Items have always been a topic of interest to the lad. While he lives in Magnostad he wishes to reach the highest level of Magical education he can reach. This is mostly in part so he can widen his arcane capabilities to later use against the Kuraba, and to satisfy his own curiosity in the arts. Another reason in this goal is to discover the secrets behind Magic Items/Weapons and figure out a way to create them. It would allow him to put them on the backburner on his mind while creating useful weapons and items for his goals.

The thing that Merari hungers for is the death of the Kuraba. His days can be spent planning over each moment of how he is to get his revenge; each decision he makes is most likely a step towards his goal. He doesn’t care if someone else slaughters them as long as they did so because of his own hand. Anything else would be unacceptable for the young man. He won’t stop until each of them had gotten their punishment for what they had done to his own clan. It’s unlikely that he would offer them mercy, especially considering that they hadn’t extended the same hand to Merari’s clan.

Another goal that Merari has is to revive the Hashishins and recover their arts. He doesn’t doubt that many of the clan’s techniques died with their death, but he’s certain he can bring some of them back. One step of this goal is to create a group that would replace the clan, and another is to travel to Kou to see if he can dig up any of his clan’s secrets. While he’s out of Magnostadt, he also plans to begin his revenge against the Kuraba.

Phobias/Fears:
Phobias/fears: One of Merari’s fears is of someone seeing through him and exposing him. It truly scares him, because what after? What if someone kills him? Or reverses all his progress in his goals would be erased and that his path would be harder.
He never thinks about his goals while out in front of others, and he never let himself think of depraved things. He doesn’t want someone to see his Rukh and to wonder or threaten him. He lives in a country of Magicians, and he can’t risk someone seeing his Black Rukh and realizing that he fell. Because if they do, they may try to stop him from achieving his goals, even though they’re “justified”.
Another one of his fears is losing the things he loves. He had already lost so much at such an early age, the thought of losing something, or someone, that he has grown attached to not only scares him, but it angers him.

Appearance:
Merari is a pale-skinned boy of average height who looks a bit young for his age. He has ruby eyes that are, while not too big for his face, give him a rather childlike look. His button nose and signature frail Magician appearance don't go far to help change it for him.
The most stand-out trait about Merari is his hair. He keeps meticulous care of his ash locks, which now reach past his hips. On the left side of his face are bangs that tend to fall in front of his eyes, with the tips of the bang that frame the side of his face reaching his shoulder. Meanwhile, on the other side of his head, he keeps a part of his hair in a bun and loop. The rest of his hair is kept in a low ponytail that keeps everything neat and tidy. It’s easy to tell that he keeps great care of his hair; it’s soft to the touch and easily shines, it also helps that he easily brushes it two hundred times a day to keep it as such.

Like everything else about him, Merari is posh and dresses as such. His outfits are smart and elegant, and like his hair, he’s painstakingly careful to ensure that he’s presentable. Button down shirts, dress shorts, slacks, boots, and the Magnostadt robes are all part of his look. His wardrobe is filled with clothes that are shades of royal purple, golden, and black, along with some monochromatic colors. There are even some outfits that are reminiscent of his former homeland in Kou, but it’s not often that he’s seen out in such clothes.

Merari’s most common outfit is as such: a purple dress shirt with short sleeves, long collar, and buttons down the front. The shirt has floral patterns of a paler purple with golden accents, along with a long neck collar that is just shy of his chin. The sleeves are a darker purple that ends at the elbow. Around the stomach, there is a dark colored “sash” part of the shirt. Paired with the shirt is a pair of dark purple shorts and matching black boots. Finally, he wears his Magnostadt robes with the 3rd Kodor badge pinned on.

When it comes to body language, he tries to keep mindful of what he's doing with his posture and hands. It’s sometimes a hit or miss with him, either coming off as too opened or a bit closed. But he’s getting better with controlling what his body is saying and using it too to deceive his true intentions.

History:
The Hashishin Clan, a small clan of nobles that resided within one of the captured territories of Kou, had a rather tame front. Their lands weren’t far from Magnostadt, and many members of their ranks were Half-Magicians. But beneath their innocent covers of a merchant clan, was a family of trained assassins. Throughout the underground world, they were rather known for their mastery of the arts, from their extensive studies in magic to their techniques revolving around the use of poisons and gasses. They were known to use smoke bombs laced with hallucinogenic smog that would hamper their enemies to poisons that would cripple their limbs.

But any enemy of the strong clan was the Kuraba, a military clan that grounded out soldiers for the Kou Military. They were long-time rivals of the Hashishin, and often took each chance they had to fight against them. But over the recent years, the aggression between the two families began to boil over with simple words leading to blows.

Meanwhile, Merari was the son of one of the head’s daughters, Anisha, and a Magician named Levi who was from a different clan. They were a loving family, but the boy doesn’t remember much of them. Levi and Anisha did their best to raise their son the right way while passing down their family techniques. His mother taught her some of the basic Hashishin arts while his father taught him magic. A pastime that the entire family enjoyed was music: something that would forever be important to Merari. It was the best life that the young child could have imagined, and it was a very happy life. He had many friends within the close-knit clan, and occasionally family from Levi’s clan would visit their family.

But one day, the relationship between the Hashishin and the Kuraba completely snapped and the two exploded into full-blown fighting. It only lasted a single day, but it was one that completely changed Merari and his life forever. He would never forgive the other clan for what they had done to the Hashishin, and most importantly, his family.

The last time Merari would see his mother was when she hid him in a closet room, giving him a concoction that would put him into a temporary state of comatose. While he was passed out, Anisha tried to fight alongside her family in dire attempts to protect their clan, but she was one of the many casualties in the brutal fight. Merari could do nothing due to the drink, but it was the saving grace that kept him alive. Due to the effects of the potion, his body was in a state that was similar to death, close enough that he was left for dead by the Kuraba during their search for survivors.

When Merari woke up, a day or two had passed, and all he could find was carnage. The Hashishin were far from strong enough to survive such a direct battle, and he found himself all alone. He had no clue who else had survived or if he was the last member of his clan. The weight of the entire calamity was too much for the young boy, who was left with nothing at the tender age of nine. His family was long gone, and so was his home. There was nothing, and Merari was the only one left in the wreckage, left to mourn by himself. He was bubbled over with sorrow, grief, and confusion as he lingered in the torn remains of the clan compound. Sadness transformed into anger the longer he stayed, and it was during that time did Merari change from an optimistic if slightly mischievous boy to the beginnings of the person he is today. The pain was too much for his fragile heart and mind, and Merari grew bitter of everything. Of the time with his family stolen, of how the Kuraba had destroyed everything he had, and how fate allowed everything to be ripped away from him.

Who knew what would have happened to the young boy if it weren’t for Levi’s brothers, Alec and Seth, who came to the ruined house. Their visit was to be a surprise, to announce to their baby brother that their sister had found a husband and to invite Merari and Levi to the wedding in Magnostadt. But, all they found was Merari, crying and trembling. Seeing how the young boy had nothing left for him in Kou, the brothers took him back to the city of Magnostadt in an attempts to help him pick up the remains of his life.

From that point in his life, Merari grew up with the small Ersatz clan whose surname he was forced to adopt. Alec and his wife tried to create a new home for the young boy, but nothing they did could console the boy. They tried to have him talk to professionals, but all he would say was “I wasn’t awake to see it” and that, “it’ll heal”. And it seemed to be that way. Over time, Merari pretended to overcome the horrors that befell his actual family. He was careful to always show a smiling facade, and that while he was quiet, he was “happy”. He eventually convinced his surrogate parents to stop with the doctoral visits that he would be fine on his own. They had agreed in hopes of doing him some right and due to the fact of the progress he seemed to make. But over the past years, Merari’s rage and wrath for the Kuraba only grew and grew. Deep down he continued to change, his inner personality and mind continued to rot.

  • Concussion - By pouring one's magoi into the staff, the user is able to produce a series of rhythmic pulses with the caster in the center. Appearance: The Komori is a lyre-like instrument with a long neck. The body of Komori is 25 cm wide and 35 cm long. It has golden strings made from steel, and through the body there are golden highlights. The neck of Komori is a hollow flute that’s 15 cm long. At the top there is a hole to blow into, along with holes along the neck that are to be plugged when played. When used, Komori is to be held with the end of the flute pointing skywards while the golden “teeth” near the strings are pointing to the earth. The user can pluck Komori’s strings or use the flute part. When Komori is to be held like a staff, the user can hold it by the neck with the body of Komori pointing skywards.

The cyclone travels up to 40m, when it hits a target it explodes in size becoming 25m tall and 10m wide, sucking the water out of anything caught up in dealing A-tier dehydration damage. 10 Magoi to activate | 5 Magoi to sustain.
