The air held a tint of boredom, everything was actually rather quiet, and rather peaceful today. There was nothing going about and Jahan himself was rather anxious. He had been staying most of his time in Scipio's fortress it had been weeks of him simply running about training his men and playing Scipio in bouts of chess. Scipio also served his role as a mentor to Jahan rather well he was teaching Jahan everything that he knew, and Jahan was doing well to keep up with the man. There would be no doubt that in the soon future he would take the place of Scipio and become the successor to everything that the man would accomplish.
However things were moving far to slow for Jahans tastes, he was used to being able to do things to his discretion, however Scipio had him running battle scenario after scenario. It was almost unbearable to the boy, he had never been so bored with his day to day activities than before, sure he was skilled at it. He had yet to be defeated by anyone other than Scipio, and even those battles were done ever so closely. However Scipio was convinced that the boy required even more experience being a commander. Regardless today was a day filled with rest for Jahan, so he sat on the wooden floors in front of the court yard and simply waited for something to happen.
He was greeted by the entertainment of silence and nothing happened at all for a while, before Jahan noticed a group of Light infantry soldiers marching through the courtyard in line. He raised an eyeball in wonder of what could be going on.
"A training exercise?"
The line seemed almost endless, and the types of soldiers soon began to change, he could see Heavy Infantry, Archers, Cavalry Men, Company Men and even Mages march in line. This was rather unusual, as the entirety of a division did not usually train all at once, and there were no special exercises to be done today. Out of curiosity and a bit of excitement Jahan got up and walked to the men in order to gain some answers.
"Soldier! What's going on here?" He said firmly. A man of light infantry turned to Jahangir bowing a bit .
"Young Master we have been challenged by a rival Militia. We are preparing to march out to battle."
"And this battle is to the death?"
"Of coarse young master, all disputes between militias are done in honor. The losing team makes disposes of the bodies and prepares the burials. As well there being a wager being made. "
Jahans eyes lit up things had gotten rather interesting for him, so he ran in search of Scipio to explain things for him further. He hurried out of the courtyard and past the barracks into Scipios quarters. He opened the mans door only for him not to be in place.
"Damn" Jahan said grittting his teeth. He ran even faster than before all the ways to the gates of Scipios massive fortress.
"Scipio!" he yelled out to his master. Scipio turned back on his horse to greet Jahangir. The man raised a fist halting his army for a brief second.
"Jahan shouldn't you be practicing your swo-"
"I know about the battle coming up. I want to fight."
Scipio was taken aback by this but his face didnt show it, this is what he loved about Jahangir. The boy was blunt and frank, he said very well whatever he pleased. Scipio thought of it for a while, the battle wouldnt be an easy one, the enemy was known to be very fierce with their frontal attack patterns.
"However" Scipio thought to himself. Scipio scratched his beard calmly before turning his horse around.
"Soldiers! I have given the glory of this battle to my apprentice, Lord Jahangir Nikator!"
