Julius watched intensely as the fellow skeletal being before him, his eyes tracing the movements of their hand until they pulled a rib off watching it to shift into a weapon, then shifting into a blade. Julius shifted his bone face under his mask, at least he thought he was. He still was unsure  if he eve made facial expressions, and it was saddening to think about if he did not.   It seemed the two of them shared not only the ability to turn their bones into weapons, but he saw the ruhk gather around the other mage as his magical seals on his arms glowed. Julius almost laughed at the almost exact details of the two of them.    Julius lifted his hand to block the lighting but then it shot into a mirror behind the caster and came out a mirror above them. Interesting, he thought he never even thought about doing magic in this kind of way. The longer he would watch this magic the more he could understand it, but it did not matter. Julius of course would not have planned for the other magician to still be with him as he had just know noticed their prescene. He had not even took in the words he had spoken earlier being too caught into the opponent they face.  After the sand classed and shattered to the ground   Julius spoke to the mage who had casted  sand magic so easily. "Stay out of this, I thought I made that clear. This is a one on one battle." He said as he lifted his left hand towards the oncoming three lightning balls. Julius fed magoi into the glove on his left hand, the strength magic seals produced a glowing transparent shield , Julius pushed out enough magoi scaling the shield to be strong enough to take on all three bolts.

The balls of lightning arced and slammed into the shields blocking the lightning balls. He was not sure how strong the bolts were, but  he was confident the shield would hold, if anything they would still be one left.  It was now his turn, for now Julius would lead fighting this skeleton fighting him in magic as he had cast magic at Julius.

Lightnight was it? Then so be it, but first these damned mirrors. It was also at this point were Julius discorded the safety of the sand mages with him. If he wanted to live he would have to deffend himself.  Flooding his bones with magio the seals hidden under his gloves would glow as he cast Be Destroyed, this spell did not require a vocal command as the nature of the spell was very simple. The draw back was that Julius would be stuck in place, and the safe zone he had for his friends that were near, when they were near not that he had friends besides Lagi.  The gravity outside this safe zone suddently began to pull down with B tier strength pulling everything that was not flying with B tier  level of spell of higher into the ground. To insure Victory here,  Kina's Avatar of Kawachi-no-Kami sustained the spell applying another hit of B tier force for a total of A tier, hopefully pulling down the mirors and the mage to the floor.

Julius then pointed a finger at the Skeltal creature before him as he spoke loud enough from under his mask so that his foe could here him. "You." The tone was calm but held power. His voice sturn as he soon began to build a massive amount a magoi within his right hand that was pointing at the Dungeon Beast before him.   "Lightning Seperant" With the command given, Lightning dances around The Dark King's hand before taking shape at the tip of the boned finger that is pointed towards his target. The head of a sea serpent is formed being 20 CM tall and 10 CM wide having a range up to 50 meters. The Serpent would then race off to his target attempting to sink the lightning teeth into the target.

Julius watched as the magic battle as now underway, noting how his foe would respond, after casting the last spell Julius lifted his helmet's face plate up showing the boned figure under it.   "Do not disappoint."  He muttered before lowering it back down, again taunting his foe.

Although time would make them feel like they were wasting it with each step further into the chamber it was truly the furthest thing from the truth. Even if everything had seemed overtly secret and representative it would become clear to Zubaidah as she used her wisdom that this was for a reason. It spoke to her, not just figuratively as the clues she had before her along with her abilities told her that the colors had been a form of code language used around the fortress. They each had meaning on their own along with what they meant when placed together in various orders.

However, even as this became clear to her she would need to observe more about it and where its directions led before she would be able to translate what it meant. Although as they moved closer and closer towards the music that had echoed nearly forever down the halls it would soon become clear.

"The sweet sound of pitch-perfect silence, weighs heavy on my soul, to follow the rain and avoid all the noise." The lyrics rang as they finally got close enough, for them all to hear with perfect clarity, even Zubaidah herself. "To fight for a truth that no one knew was gone, to absolve all of my pain and forget all my loss. I will look for the gold and bathe in their blood to fight for the righteous means to when I'm done."

"They croon and they crown over spoils and crown, but when the people choke on power what is worth when you fall from your tower. We gather and hope, we gather and pray, we gather and fight to live another day. With one another we shan't lose our way." The words are sung in perfect harmony seemingly layering as they would hear the source coming from an opening at the end of the hallway.

It opened up into a rather large chamber, at first it seemed as though they were in an atrium from a light that came above and shone into the open space and the underground foliage. At the end of the room was a pedestal that led down into some stairs where the singing was coming from. However, this wasn't the only thing coming from the area as a low rumbling growl could also be heard coming from the same location, whatever was making the noise was in the same place as whoever was singing this bittersweet song that filled their ears.

Ibrahim would stop for a moment as he heard Julius words to him, at first he didn't want to leave his new ally to fight someone alone and possibly perish. However, as he heard his tone and gathered what type of face he was making could he be able to so as he would step back and try to get away from the main damage. His eyes shifted to the fight respecting the wishes of his ally but also ready to step in should things suddenly go from bad to worse.

"Well, I guess we'll see how something like this goes." He said with a sigh as he looked on from the sidelines, his eyes narrowed in on the magic they were both used for both practical and personal reasons as he became interested. "Out of all the things I expected in here I guess it wasn't a skeleton versus skeleton fight."

As the fight began in earnest the Avatar of Kina would see his efforts start to work with great effectiveness as at first the enemy and his mirrors were pulled down by gravity. It wouldn't last for long however, a field of static suddenly appeared around him before sparking into a barrier, and suddenly he had created his own magnetic field. With the gravity warping around him, it suddenly spread like a net to his mirrors to stop them from falling before he would rush to meet his enemy.

With his blank face staring back it could definitely be hard to tell what one another was thinking about the fight, although it seemed like Julius enemy seemed a bit excited from the erratic nature of his movements. Even rushing in to take the full blunt of his lightning serpent his bone charring but not breaking as it stayed intact despite the damage it took.[b] Without warning his head started to chatter loudly, it at first seemed like a response of pain until it was soon followed by hollow laughter.

"I like your tricks, I hope you won't mind if I do!" He would say as he suddenly [b]flew backward with his antigravity spell before holding his hands high in the air as lightning crackled between his fingers. His own attack would be created, splitting into four of them which he filled with enough power to make them all A-tier. With pure maniacal joy in his voice, he cried out as he sent them all into the mirrors which they began to weave in and out of as they all came at Julius from in front, behind, to his left and his right with electric vigor. Each one of them crackling and screaming as they hurled towards him with the intent to hurt him with his own abilities

Combat notes: Enemy skeleton mage is sending 4 a-tier versions of your own attack at you from behind, infront, left and right of Julius

Julius watched as the skeleton dared to use a field of magnetism against him, and copy his spell. Julius reacted with a chuckle and tracked his own spell as met with his foe.   It seemed that the attack was so impressive that this mage would copy his spell and make it stronger. How impressive was this?  Clearly, the undying man had used his ageless power to reach divine levels of magical abilities, the thing here was well Julius was a God.  It was time to prove it.  He did not wish to resort to this, but well how could he pass up the chance to show the Seketal being in front of him he was just outclassed in every way?   Julius had been holding back, even though he had used some of his mid grade spells he had yet to use something genuinely showing his power and to be honest, these mirrors were the only reason this skeleton was even still alive right now.

It was time to awaken the Dark King. So Julius flooded his body with Magoi as the black Ruhk Gathered around him, " Lightning consume me, Arcs pass through me, Vaults electrocuting,  Magnetism protruding, Strike Zoran!"." As Julius spoke these words he channeled the left glove on his magic tool to create another shield blocking the damage from the front, the other three strikes would strike Julius causing his armor from Kina to be scorched, smoking, and smoldering with arc damage. It was pretty obvious the armor was banged up but not yet destroyed. It was as the attacks from his foe were coming to an end, that Julius underwent a transformation, his armor would be consumed in darkness and his entire figure would change as he brought out the full power of Zoran, or rather almost the full power of Zoran. Now that he was in his new form and Black ruhk would be swarming around him, Julius used the ability to absorb the Magic magnetic field around them, the same field that allowed the skeleton and mirror to remain in the air.

With the added magoi back in his tank, Julius lifted his left hand showing a black crystal within it, it was a shard. It was as he said, he was a god among mortals, but this man was also on that plane, now it was time to become a god among the immortals. It was time to attain power that would show the entire world that either they would learn balance or be forced into balance, that all greed was going to be punished.

Julius stabbed his right hand into the center of his chest, as he forced magoi outwards throughout Zoran's armor. He had learned early on that his Dark Djinn was not a dark version of the normal Djinn of dungeons, they were not even man-made Djinns, they were a key.  A Dark Metal Vessel was just the key to open the gate to true Godhood, to real power, to become a Djinn.  There was no Zoran, not yet but there was about to be. He let all his anger and disgust for this world and their greed fuel him as he let out a roar that started to echo out through the chamber. His left hand crushed the black shard in his grasp. It was time to become Zoran and introduce the world to him while showing the world that Magi and Djinns were no longer the powerhouses of Magic or the pinnacle of power. Julius was now going to take that mantle. [/d]

With the combined mass of Black ruhk from the shard of Illah and Julius' Full Equip, those who could see the Ruhk would probably not be able to see much else as it pour in and swallowed Julius until his bones were swallowed by black energy before a sphere consumed him.  When the sphere would fall and Julius would emerge,  he would be something completely different.

As she listened closer to the lyrics, Zubaidah could feel herself drawn into the music. It reminded her of Ipos’, however much she wished to forget, but there was a noise much further away that pained her further. She could not quite hear what, for it seemed to distort the music, distracting her from the newly-audible lyrics. As she tuned in, however, Zubaidah soon recognised the sound. She recognised it from Jedidiah.

It was the sound of intense black rukh.

There’s something wrong around here. I cannot be certain what it is, but I assure you that we cannot delay any longer.’ She wanted to remain there and note down the lyrics, knowing that the music could give them some clues, but Zubaidah had only heard that sound once before. ‘I realise that we shouldn’t rush ourselves, in case we endanger the lady Azar, but I am sure that we can handle any dangers ahead. So ready yourselves! We don't want to be caught off-guard…

She would never forget that sound.

[Zubaidah continues towards the source of the song, spear in hand.]

For every step they drew closer, the lyrics were to become just a tad more audible, until then, the poetic words were to be clear now within the ears of the travelers. Upon coming to the ends of the deep hallway, Gil and the two other women were to lay witness to the entrance to wherever the source of that voice came. Gil had keenly listened to the words that were sung ever so beautifully, however, refused to pay mind to what the lyrics wished to convey to the audience.

Rather, the scarfed man was far more curious about what was hidden underneath the distant lyrics. In no time, he and the others came to the entrance to what was unveiled as an atrium of light, where underground foliage and the like slept. In the depths of this peculiar room was to lay a pedestal. Upon further inspection by the tan scarfed man, he was to see stairs.

It must be here then, where the mysteries behind this fortress lay, certainly. Gil was to step forth! In an act of zeal and courage, the traveler was to journey to the end of the stairs, to witness the end. It mattered not that he heard growls, nor lyrics, as he was here for one thing, and one thing only. Angelus, yes, the nationwide renowned soldier from Reim, was here to procure a future for his nation and the one day state of Parthevia.

At first even before Julius could feel the effects of the magic taking place he could feel his mind being taken from him, however, as madness started to grasp his mind there would be a sudden clarity. Not just of the situation he was in or what was happening, but what he could do. With all this power flooding his body as the Rukh channeled through his bones like a lightning rod he would be able to grant his own wish. The mirrors he had seen where exactly that, a spell that had copied him and attempted to control his magic but now the magician would see its secrets and the magic circles hidden in the arena around him. Combined with his intent and will it all began to unfold around him.

"My gods, what is happening," Ibrahim spoke as he watched everything that was happening, clutching his own staff as he prepared to protect himself should it be needed.

However, what was truly odd was how his skeletal opponent stopped to watch what was happening, it was as though he was frozen waiting for Julius to be finished so he could see what was happening. In that moment as they were all stopped the skeletal magician would see and feel a familiar light, another magic circle forming around him to be placed where he wished. They were like the ones on his hands, meant for control but over something so different. He would feel his vessel shatter under the will of his spell as it melted over his body and the transformation would truly take hold.

His body would distort and grow as he would truly become a monster of terror, the metallic skeleton turning into the monster he would desire, a clear madness entering his mind as true and utter power would suddenly be at his mercy. A vicious and dark third eye opened upon the skeleton as Zoran would be no more, no, all that was left was Avatar of his power one and the same. A static surge sent through the castle only to be followed by another pulse of dark, despairing energy that could be felt overall within the castle.

With the clear madness of Zoran at his disposal, Julius would see and feel where the dark djinn had ended he began, and now he was his own to control, the only one who could bind him was himself, a true terror ready to name himself to the world.

As they followed through to the source of the sound they would truly find themselves astonished with more secrets as they delved closer to the answer. The sweet voice humming and soothing, its melody carried in and out of the large chamber, they would now be in. It appeared as though they were in the enclosure of something that was meant to be kept here. With shattered chains and loose bones hidden beneath the flora echoing each and every sound off of them to share what they would already be able to see.

With light shining on all their faces, a gentle warmth would steal them from the moment, as before them there was true serenity within this mystery. At the bottom of the steps, a pool of water had formed, shimmering with a light that didn't belong to reflection as it came from the gentle waves themselves, although they didn't seem to belong there. A woman scarred, and bruised, with only one arm and eye she carried her tune caressing with song and touch a mighty beast wounded and chained to the stone of the fortress itself. A lion with a golden mane and eyes of fire, its clipped wings bleeding and dripping even as they were soaked and cleaned in the waters below.

"We can't be lost, nor be found, but to try is to care, and to die is to be fair, but when all is said and done." She sang without noticing them, her one good eye looking upon the mighty winged feline as though she were ferrying a loved one past the river to beyond. "I never asked for destiny to play fair~"

Although it seemed there was more to sing she and the others would not get the pleasure as the same pulse of dark rukh they had felt before would suddenly come back, stronger than before only to be followed by a static charge that would send all of the hair on their bodies to rise. Even the lions would and the woman in the shimmering pool as her head twisted and turned to see who had joined them.

"Wha,- no, no not more of you, this beast has seen enough pain."
The woman suddenly said defensively without taking the time to notice their expressions, her arm and body pressing against the low rumbling beast as she stared at them. It was only as she saw the look on Shar's face as she seemed to be confused by not only the situation but the energy they had just felt. "....You're lost too... who are all of you and why are you here!?"

Shar would look over at Angelus and Zubaidah, she showed them the same look of confusion as though a sudden rush of adrenaline had filled her. "I-i'm at a loss here, there seems to be alot going on and I'm not sure how much of it is connected, but I know this isn't normal, you've helped me get this far so I'll trust you."

With this, all going on the situation could be considered messy, but for them they truly must've had more personal questions to answer. Angelus would find the lion staring at him even as he moved, its eyes holding a weak and steady gaze, and for Zubaidah as the distance between them became clear and familiar, but all so different notes played in her head lyrics and notes clear with no confusion to be found.

It was quite the menace of an aura. How could one exude such evil? Hm, well, there was no time to dawdle then, clearly. In the depths of this chamber, everyone could feel that dark presence, no doubt about that. Gil was unsure what that could be, but, he did not wish to take that dark calamity on.

A face kissed by light, Gil was to step forth, his dark boots being wet by the shining puddle of water that rested calmly. However, there, within that pool of light, the chain bound lion and the wounded maiden were to lay their eyes unto the travelers whom had come this far now.

In his hollow eyes devoid of soul, the lion could feel the sable clouds that loomed over the heart of the scarfed man. Yet, there was perhaps.. some other emotion lying underneath his dead cold eyes, and that would be.. one of genuine pity for the fiery lion. It was quite obvious here to the soldier what this unsightly scene was of. Gil could not mistreat a being such as this, and definitely not tear this seemingly distressed lion from this girl.

Gilgamesh: "Hmph.. this fortress.. I and you all sense that as well, do you not? A dark force has woken now. I cannot be sure of what that may be, but, I and my comrades have quite the list of questions. I do not believe we have the time to pry though. I beg of you two, please follow us, or you may perish here by our hands so you mustn't suffer agony. It is frankly up to you how you wish to proceed with your own lives. I was led to believe there was an actual artifact here. I was quite mistaken, and so, let me soothe your pain, please."

It was then that, the soft hand was to press gently upon the mane of the lion to deliver a wet soothing light of healing to the beast. In his hand, pressed on the mane of the lion was the holy water wet weave. It was crystal clear to anyone that met his gaze; the scarfed man meant only to help, not to harm. In the brief moment that was to follow though, he was to just stand there and caress the mane of the beautiful and majestic lion.

Gil did not demand answers for anything. Instead, he just stood there, trying to alleviate pain. It was to be then that he was to now lay his eyes upon the girl, before nodding to her, his eyes not of malice, nor of question, but simply, acknowledgment. Gil had not anything else to say but this:

Gilgamesh: "If it is your wish, I may sneak us all out of this fortress and far from this field of horror that has engulfed our land. I believe I've had enough here anyhow."

You all felt that, didn’t you?’ Zubiadah could feel the static in her ears spread across her body. ‘So even we can feel the rukh have become restless...’ It seemed even the air was shuddering with cold shivers. ‘That doesn’t bode well for us at all.’ As the shivers rolled across each person, however, Zubaidah decided to calm them with her Echo Chamber. ‘But don’t worry, it will all be fine if we work together.

Well then, I must apologise first, madam, for I am usually more cordial but we have no more time for delays.' Leaving Azar's side with a short bow of the head, Zubaidah put forwards her hand and curtsied, 'The name's Zubaidah bin Mansur, and yours?' Hoping for a handshake, she smiled sweetly before rushing into the more important topic at hand.

'Now then, may I assume that you were here for the artefact, as dear Gilgamesh has mentioned? If so, do you have any information that could lead us to where it might be found? I understand that there are many players in this search, but you must understand: I am here to protect whatever power this artefact has from someone who might abuse it. But, madam, that feeling we all have? It shows that the same ‘someone’ is already here.

'I do not wish to endanger you, your companion or the lady Azar, but it is of the utmost import that we work together here. I would advise you take up dear Gilgamesh's offer out of here, but I myself cannot leave until I am sure the artefact is safely kept from the wrong hands - be that retrieved or buried forever.

After attaining his new form Julius felt all the power of his dark metal vessel, it was truly like the flood gates had been opened to him with all the dark ruhk pouring into his body.   Julius lifted his left foot and stomped down casting Shock which caused a pulse of electric current to shoot out all around him for up to 25 meters.  As his foot met the ground Julius also cast  Ride the Lightning. Once the attack would travel Julius looked back at the man who had been traveling with him for a few floors now.  A Skeletal grin formed on his metallic skeleton lips,  then Julius took a step and started his run, the power of Zoran washed over him, or was it his power now? He was Zoran, yes that was is.  Anyway, Zoran started his run and moved at 1/8th the speed of light and approached the other skeleton in the room. When he reached him Zoran would swing his right hand bringing his blade up and attempting to cleave the blade through the target and upwards attempting to slice the bones in half.

The mystery maiden was silent at first as it quickly became overwhelming with the amount of them as they spoke with their own intentions and questions trying to learn more about her. At first, she thought to respond immediately but was stopped by the sudden action of Angelus beginning to glow only to drip glistening water on the lion, not that much different from the pooled water they had been found in it was a clear surprise to her as the beast started to heal quicker. The pause that was tense started to unravel as they all stared at the same situation before them, and felt the intensity of the battle in the distance.

"I appreciate the help, but I'm not sure how much I can return in these given circumstances." She referred to the events that had been felt moments ago. Her hand would rest on the lion who seemed to be healed but had closed its eyes to rest after all the stress it had been put through. "The artifact, I've heard of it, but I'm not quite sure what it is or where it is."

Azar was listening to their conversation but as they spoke she was doing other things to make sure they weren't caught off guard, keeping an eye on the lion before going back up the stairs to look past the inset pool where the underground oasis had formed. It had been odd all the things that they'd found here and still had no clue what they were actually there for beyond something of supposed power. It would seem to them that there weren't any clues to be gained here until the woman began to finish her sentiment.

"However, I wasn't the first person to come through this part or even the first to find this lion, no that belongs to the people that left us here." She would up and over her shoulder with her head tilting in the direction of where the people had gone. "The Lion killed two of them before the third heavily damaged me and it ran off towards the edge of the chamber, however, I still find this place odd from the paths to get here, its challenges, and even this majestic creature."

"It is all a bit odd, but we can always figure out more on the move, we should decide where we wanna go." Azar had spoken up as she prepared to keep moving on, having paced to the point where a trail had been formed on the subterranean foliage. "I guess we could go after the attackers, look for another path deeper in, or just go back the way we came?"

In mere seconds the entire context of the situation within the arena had changed as Julius had found a way to carry out his dark wishes. With the power underneath his belt and his desire to win it had suddenly shifted in the first skeleton's favor as he became the one in control of his power, in a state where he should be insane but instead was granted great clarity and wisdom. It seemed to elicit great shock as even the mirror skeleton would stop to watch what had happened even though he was mid-fight.

"My gods, this keeps getting more inane by the moment, but I'm glad I know who's on my side." Ibrahim spoke under his breath in awe with his head on a swivel to keep his eyes on the situation before them.

As the Mirage skeleton took the attacks rushing past them it appeared to enter a berserk state as it would disregard the tactics only to try and swing on him suddenly. However, with the damage to the image, there was a brief moment where it all flickered and the mirrors rocked as though they were gonna fall from the air. It didn't happen, but as the image refocused in the reflection before overlaying it on the first one it would seemingly heal its form. Although it started to get more sluggish with the mirrors around it wobbling its state reflected the enemy's own.

With a deep and long hiss, the skeleton wouldn't give up his fight with the dark djinn as suddenly it whispered a chant and its body would break apart. Its own lightning would statically discharge around him until it started to gather particles from everywhere around them. Then it would create four large spikes of metal sand before sending them flying, each one capable of dealing B-tier damage as they flew and circled around their target before rushing the dark djinn attempting to pierce and weaken the powerful behemoth

Thank you for sharing, madam. I must apologise for alarming you, and your companion, but you should leave here as soon as possible. The situation is more dire than we had anticipated here, even with all the factions after this artefact…’ She bowed her head with a polite smile, before turning her attention back towards the vigilant Azar. ‘If we continue onwards, will you join us, milady? I would not want to put you in harm’s way, but I must admit that your strength and intelligence are well-known. We would do well to have you remain with us, although I understand that your duty is to the Shar.

Azar’s decision would be accepted either way, leaving Zubaidah to investigate the near-miraculous waters. She wondered whether this pool had formed through natural or unnatural means, touching the waters to examine any magical effects with Solomon's Empathy. In either case, she would then swish her hand and listen to the ripples, hoping that her enhanced hearing might help with estimating a depth inside. ‘If I am right, then these waters might be deeper than they seem. I have read that towns and fortresses would often have underground cisterns in case of siege, and these waters might be remnants from one such cistern. It is a long shot, I know, but if correct? Well, it could lead to more private areas within this fortress, and more important ones.’ If she found nothing of interest, however, she would join Azar in pursuing the third attacker.

The woman and her winged lion seemed to be appreciative of the calm tone that everyone was holding for their sake. However, at the suggestion leaving along with the added stress that more people were supposedly looking deeper into this fortress for the sake of finding something a level of apprehension had set in. It wasn't towards them, it seemed to be in general as she hugged the beast and bit her lip as though it seemed she was stuck in some sort of train of thought.

"I'm not sure if that's all that wise, he's still injured and if people are truly coming isn't it more likely that we will run into them by trying to escape." She spoke with a level of confidence that was rising as she took each breath staring into the beast's eyes. "We can come with you, I can help heal it while we move and if we have protection with you it will allow me to do it without worry."

It seemed like she was intent as she got on the creature's back and she pulled out a few salves placing them on the beast's wounds before pulling out a magic item in the shape of a chalice that she held while mumbling to herself. Every now and then she would pour some water out from the chalice into a rag and rub it along the beast's wounds. Although it seemed like she was keeping to herself as she did this process even hiding the wounds with her arms as she protectively tended to it.

Azar would look at Zubaidah as she was questioned, and there was a moment of pause before she gave a confident grin and flexed her arm while holding it. There was a level of decisiveness on her face that made it clear that she had already made her decision long before she was even asked. "Of course, I will follow you both into the depths of this ruined fortress with all the strength I got. You compliment me but the strength and cleverness between you both could replace the sand in the desert."

You are far too kind, milady. I fear curiosity overshadows my cleverness at times. Indeed, I must admit that I am rather curious as to where this pool leads…’ As she walked around the pool, examining the still waters, Zubaidah cast Versatile Deserts. She moulded the iron sand into something unfamiliar to Azar or Angelus, she would presume, taking the shape of a diver’s tank. ‘Have you heard about how Parthevian divers used to retrieve sponges from deep waters?’ She frowned at the tank, somewhat unimpressed with her handiwork, and threw it aside, ‘Well, it was more complicated than that…

Turning towards Azar and Angelus, Zubaidah gestured towards the pool, ‘I would request that one of you stay with this woman and her companion, for I am more than likely wrong about where these waters might lead. If I am wrong, then it would be dangerous to have you follow, so please accompany them through the other tunnel. There is a higher likelihood that the tunnel could lead to the artefact, but my curiosity has, as ever, gotten the best of me.’ Bowing to them both, Zubaidah summoned an Asura dolphin and dove into the water, casting Midnight Flight as she went.

As Zubaidah questioned the nature of the pool and the rest of them heard the sounds of the cracking of earth and stone above them it seemed there was only one clear option. Without saying much Azar would nod and follow along with her as the rest of the fortress began to break apart in some places, only to be held apart in others where the structure wasn't catastrophically damaged As they would get into the water they would see one last thing overhead, a flash of lightning that was bursting everywhere seemingly coming from a room above them.

It was so terrifying it drove the winged lion and her rider into the water too, and as they would all get into the clear waters they would see the same thing. Ruins, what appeared to be another hallway that had been appropriated to allow water to pass through, there had once been images on these walls but they had eroded long ago by now without any maintenance. It was like the rest of this fortress something of seemingly grand magnificence that had been abandoned and left to rot without anyone to keep it to its glory. Maybe there would be a reason to fix it up one day, but for now, all they could see was more ruin.

It seemed as thought the lion was holding its breath and the woman hid underneath its wings which seemed to be trapping air, the two of them following as they all traversed down the water-filled hall, they would have to twist and turn as they went through an area that all looked the same, but all so different as it had been forced into similarity from weathering. All the secrets this place and held to only be lost, leading them towards the one secret they had actually known something about. Where had they even heard this rumor in the first place, who made it down so deep?

After they would have to curve down to go deeper they would face some darkness for a brief moment before there would be light leading to another area. As they would get closer to it they would see it was very clearly lit by a clear flame that made the room appear as though it were filled with the sun itself. A room of day, hidden away with all of its ornaments and furniture stripped bare as though they had hastily left with almost nothing in this odd chamber. Almost, for at its center which could be clearly seen was a massive stone table that was embedded into the ground of the fortress.

For the one who had sought the secrets of the world and studied all that she could even without being one who could see the flow as though the others had and manipulated so, she would be the only one to notice what was happening in the room. The table was humming, connected to the earth and the world around it, it was being powered. The final mystery lay beyond the edge of the shore and all they would have to do was cross it.

As they dove into the waters, Zubaidah took Azar’s hand and guided her towards an Asura dolphin. In the next moment, the corridor boomed like thunder and lightning tore through the stonework. It seemed there was no more time to consider which path was best; with the corridor near breaking, this path was the safest. Ensuring that the woman and her companion were also unharmed, she beckoned them all through the underwater ruins ahead. She wished to examine them closer, but Zubaidah had neither the time nor the tools. Instead, she guided them onwards past debris and flooded rooms until light rippled across the water’s surface. At last, it seemed that they had reached the end of the path…

...and the end of their search.

She heard the rukh before anything else. They hummed in her ears like a cello sonata; soft but powerful notes. She could feel waves washing over her body, not water but power. One wave came and then another, sweeping down her body like a bow on string, matching the music in her ears. And then, swimming to the surface, Zubaidah saw the source of this bass-beat rhythm. It was a stone table like any other, affixed to the ground as if grown from earth itself. Ever wary, she withdrew Sper Dansh from her back, shaking water from the guard, and placed one hand upon the surface

World. Freedom. Death.

Voices flooded her mind, something to which Zubaidah was now accustomed. As the voices faded, however, she finally understood the importance of this Parthevian fortress. She realised the reason why this stronghold was almost familiar; she also realised why she could not allow the power within to be used by the wrong hands. As she examined the table, however, Zubaidah noticed something unusual with her Sleuth’s Eye - and welcome. As she investigated for any grooves or patterns, sure enough her Nimble Fingers found and pocketed something just as welcome. If anyone asked what, then she would have her Silver Tongue ensure Azar et al believed that Zubaidah was playing at archaeologist.

It was much better for everyone that way.
