Water we gonna do

The nights inside their new homes had been peaceful and warm due to the tight construction and firepits installed in the center of each home. However, while it was luxurious already the work of the Azure Raiders on the settlement was not even close to being finished according to their designs. While most of the homes had been completely secured there were fitted holes underneath and in some of the walls indicating additions. Indeed, with the aid of nearby waterfalls and underground springs, Ani hoped to build a plumping system to bring fresh water and heated water to every home within the settlement. With cities in reim and some in Kou having plumbing Ani felt it was something necessary for her own lands after she experienced their pleasures and convenience.

With a week to rest after the first few weeks of construction, Ani had found out on the day they were to start she was not the only one eager to get started on their project. With the sounds of her men greeting her and their shapes visible in her mind the woman chuckled as she spoke to them. "Well, let's get to work then."

In the early morning the group of warrior builders climbed up the mountain looking like they were marching forward, however, they were except it was not to battle but towards the water. As they reached the top of their destination they had found a waterfall and a river that was exceptionally wide from the mixture of melting ice, rainwater, and the natural groundwater that spurted forth from the location.  A loud cry of excitement came as they viewed what Ani had promised they would find, and soon enough they would put themselves to work with her plan. A smile crept on her face as she grabbed and shovel and joined them soon enough.

"You know I really hope I'm not throwing this at someone." Ani chuckled as she dug her shovel deep and tossed the dirt where she assumed too, luckily she followed the sounds and got it right.

As she worked Kor was there with her, and while they hadn't gotten it finished they had gotten a decent amount done in the first day. This would be their process for the next few days as they would all climb up there and continue to build a canal down towards their village. The waterway hadn't been connected yet so they had plenty of time to keep the building taking their time to make sure they met the right specifications for it to work. With a path soon enough carved down it had led to a small cliff that had overlooked their settlement. There was a structure of what looked like a container made from shadowglass and wood that framed itself around the ground.

It was at that place they began to dig a reservoir. Beyond that, however, they had dug into the ground where they built canals that would be boxed in and buried into the cliff-side. It was there that they would be connected to an aqueduct-like system that would carry water into homes, each home with its own reservoir connected to the system. The entire thing worked off gravity, Ani attempting to build a water system that worked like a river but artificially made. With these reservoirs, everyone had water at their home, but in order to give them access to the even greater luxury, they built tubs made from glass which were placed over a wooden frame and sat above volcanic vents or hot springs. This would allow them to heat up the tubs or use directly heated water giving them something akin to Hotsprings within their home. It would not only be at their homes where such luxury would be found.

Having taking most of their time setting up the reservoirs and the ducts that connected they had also focused on the removal of water with drains that lead the dirtied water to a secondary man-made reservoir where there was a filtering net and dug over an open vent to attempt to boil off the wastewater or even hopefully cleanse it. It was a bit unique and somewhat complicated but they had the materials having studied their uses and all of them spent time working on it.

As more days passed Ani felt tired but also filled with a sort of joy, even as she spent her time digging and building it felt right, even without her sight she had been unable to get rid of her desire to do things, to push herself. "Digging and then building, and then burying that and doing it all over again."

It was backbreaking work and even an Imuchakk woman was excited to enjoy these warm baths and to soothe her body. However, even as the plumbing to the houses was set up they were not finished. There was still glory to be made, and to that effort, there was another longhouse that had been built within the town this one over three different hot springs and two volcanic vents. It was with this that they had decided to build a large public bathhouse for those who wanted to enjoy the springs with the company of others rather than just at home in privacy. With large baths made from shadow glass Ani had sought to emulate the ones from people's homes even taking inspiration from the decoration she had noticed.

After being inside people's homes Ani noticed a lot of them were decorating their baths with plants, stones, feathers, or other things that made them feel like they were bathing in nature. With this in mind, the spa longhouse was made to be like a greenhouse inside with many plants, mist in the air from the hot water, and stone gardens it gave the impression that one was actually outside in nature.  This was difficult as it took them time to plant the dirt and transfer over plants, but also the design of the paths was made to guide people from bath to bath. With Ani walking barefoot she made it so it was something that felt unique and something that people would soon burn into their brains.

While it was the most difficult part of the project it was one of the most involved, Kor, her raiders, and the tribespeople were all eager to build more for their community and as they put in more plants and filled it with more decorations they felt as if they were in paradise itself. Once the final bath inside was built and the steam room they built around one of the vents was finished they soon realized it was time to put their water system to the test. With levers in place, runoffs dug in and reinforcement for their canals set up it seemed like they had taken every precaution into account as if they were wrong they could possibly flood their new land.

It was the night when the decision to finish, the Canal had been dug mostly up to the river with large rocks and logs placed to block the way. Now Ani stood there with a prying log in her hand and on the other side Liqin who looked at her and while she couldn't see she could feel it and soon made the call. "Now!"

The two of them heaved upwards at the same time and the logs pushed up the two largest stones as they rolled out of the way and soon enough the force of they might waterfall and the river began to gush into their canals. The freshwater rushed through the ducts like they were blood flowing through one's veins as it quickly filled and started pooling into their distribution reservoir and soon enough into people's homes soon enough and some flowed off back into the main river while others went to nearby plants, farms, gardens or the longhouse spa where it could water the plants in their faux rain-forest.

It was glorious as they watched it worked perfectly, their diligence had paid off and they went off to the longhouse to celebrate. With the early morning going on they intended to drink and feast for the entire day until it would be time for them to retire. There they could take warm baths at home or they could go to the spa and enjoy the luxury there, with full plumbing there was plenty to enjoy and although they would have to wait for things to heat up they were able to preoccupy themselves.

"Tonight we feast, we drink and then we spoil ourselves rotten on bath fit for the heavens!" Ani rose her glass to the air in a cheer for them all as she whistled and made the call. "SKAL!"

In what seemed like mere moments the drinking and feasting faded to black as the Azure amazon had noticed the moon shining from the chimney and soon enough she would get up and walk out towards the spa. A lot of them had fallen asleep or focused on partying, but soon enough a few of them left entering the spa in the midst of the night. The serenity that made her feel like she was in a rain-forest at night, the smells and sounds of crickets even it all like a lullaby. With the chance, she got undressed and got into the water letting peace overtake her. With her body and mine placid, she felt successful, pleased that they were able to get her goals done.
