it was just another day. beautiful as it was, heliohapt was much hotter during the day than it got in reim. the sun was brutal against the fairness of her skin. on most days, she opted to stay indoors or under the shade. as the sun fell, it became more bearable. but even at such a time, a cool bath was better than a hot one.

being the head of the clan was not easy. with her father gone, there were little people to turn to aside from apollo and even he had his questions.

she draped herself in the finest ivory silks and gilded jewels whose glimmer rivaled the stars themselves. a simple regalia, it remained practical as well as beautiful. looking in the mirror, it reflected someone powerful and not just in strength but in the way she looked.

yet it was all so strange.

this level of richness, nobility— all was something she was not used to. though it had become a constant in her life. a fortune she could afford for herself and her people with ease. she figured she would never get used to being pampered, though she was a queen in every right.

as she moved through the quiet halls of the estate, she made note of how empty it was. there was a strong desire in her to want to fill them. silence was never her friend. it stirred an anxiety within her that she seldom wished to feel. but before it could fester into something too terrible, his voice echoed from that silence.

her steps moved in a swift softness through the halls. the spiced scent of the incense that clung to his musk finds her nose with ease. she had not gone long without its comfort. it takes her little time to find him.

she meets him with a stare of someone who has not seen him in forever despite having seen him hours prior. as fast as it came, it left as her features softened. her hand clinging to a pillar. if she let go, gravity would draw her much too close, she feared.

it was much better to view him from afar at times. this was one of them.

“jahan,” she speaks. as it did, her voice danced in soft tones. “i am.” a pause. “where are we going?” it was tough to remember if she had forgotten or if he had never told her.
