Companion System
Companions are a type of character outside of a normal player character. They exist to add benefits to a player's character. They can be categorized as two distant categories. They are Combat Companions and Plot Companions. While a plot companion can be a combat companion as well, Plot Companions are the only type that can grant noncombat benefits. Companions improve the quality of life by offering assistance to players in many different ways. Down below will detail the distinction between the two types of companions and what they offer.
Combat Companion's
Combat Companions are Companions that you purchase or NPCs that are made into them by purchase. Companions get access to a certain amount of traits depending on their rank. Combat Companions can be brought with you in threads to help with combat. A player can only bring a total of two combat companions with them in a thread unless it is a substantial plot thread, this includes death-enabled threads, invasions if they can reasonably arrive, and character-centric events. Companions can be upgraded by paying the difference between tiers.
To purchase a Companion, the players must get their companion approved. Using the following template before. Companions abilities cost half the amount as the standard abilities of the same tier

Plot Companions
This group of companions is the most unique. Any NPC or Companion is capable of becoming a plot companion. Some companions, like Omega-Tier companions, are always plot companions. What makes them different is they all get a free plot trait that is capable of benefitting their allies, plot, faction, or whatever they swear loyalty to. The only way to earn these special companions is through events, extensive plotting with a specific NPC or companion, or unique job chains. Earning one of these will most likely have a significant impact on your character's story. They can grant unique traits that protect their players, offer non-combat rewards such as extra money from jobs, shortening word counts, or many other unique benefits outside of the normal effects that their traits may grant.
