Cyrus was ready, the final push. Though very exhausted, he would have to make his sister proud and set a good example for the people in his squad. He was tired and basically on the point of death, but he at least accomplished one thing, he defeated a general which was no small task. However, he would have to make sure that he wouldn’t fall because he was so out of energy and in the confusion of leaving the camp; he forgot any items that could possibly heal his fatigue. Still he would have to just be exceptionally careful about how he was going to fight. He wished his little brother was with him right now someone that would actually help him cure his wounds and provide him with some moral support. But now was not the time to get sentimental he had to be brave and not die. any distractions could lead to him dying.

With that, he mounted Rokusai and headed off. With his Adventure Seeker in hand and Wei Hao and Ariana trailing behind him, he headed to the gate to take charge of his destiny. He would try to prepare himself for anything that was going to be coming his way. So he would keep his eyes peeled for any incoming danger.

(OOC: Sorry its late and very short. I had some more tests to run at the hospital)

ingyi froze when she spotted him, his body covered in crimson blood. He was a stark cry from the man she had met in the past- a force of raw power that seemed as if he couldn't be harmed. Even with the men in heaps around him, it was abundantly apparent that her friend was close to death's doorstep. The sight and the revelation that she would be forced to fight him made Jingyi's heart ache.

"Long time no see, buddy," Jingyi stated, her smile dimmed by the circumstances held before them. She continued to walk further into the room, Dullahan quick on her heels as she steadily approached the wounded Fanalis.

"It's sad to see you hurt like this. I hope you know that if this were any other situation, I would offer you a hand. Though, I suspect that we both know that it's going to happen today." She said, stopping once she had reached halfway across the room. The pause gave her the moment to double over her options, realizing once more that Endolf would either fight her -in which he most likely could bleed out if her sword did not pierce him-, he would escape and find treatment, or the unlikeliest of the options- he would lay his weapon down and surrendered. She couldn't afford to give him mercy and allow him to leave- her men would look down upon her for doing so. Nor could Jingyi allow him to escape, he was an intruder she was to deal with.

With a hand as steady as death, Jingyi drew Yu Chang, the hilt heavy in her palm as if the blade was aware of her plans. "Endolf! Honor yourself and die fighting me! It would be an honor if I were to be your last opponent," the woman challenged, her sword rising to point at the man in question.

Whilst Jingyi was talking, Dullahan had continued to advance without her. At her heightened tone, the Ferrum Carpa took off, dashing at A-tier speeds to flank Endolf from the side to cut him off from the hatches. If he were to exceed, Dullahan would station himself in front of the hatches, cutting off any means of escape.

OLIVER OXFORD

The climb would long and hard considering Oliver's wounds and Twist's child-like patience, but everything would come closer to a close for these assassin-like entities. After all, getting into the fortress would be easy enough. The only challenge left, which was decided upon by Oliver by suggestion of Twist, would be to deal with General Feng in some way for his disrespect towards Oliver!

Arriving at the gate, yet to be stormed, Oliver and Twist stood, waiting for something to happen. Indeed, the two were escorted by two heavily armed soldiers as a precaution against suspicious behavior; direct orders from General Feng upon Oliver's return. Feng had to be honest, I didn't think he'd come back, much less with someone from Yoshiro's army! If only I wasn't in so much agony...I could probably see through whatever ploy the two of them are trying to pull...damn stains, trying to dirty my reputation...heh...hehehe...

Feng's natural, calm state was slowly fading away and being eclipsed by his hidden, more sinister personality. For whatever reason, this personality was more paranoid, easily aggravated, and loved to laugh when given a difficult situation. Whether this 'second personality' was from a mental condition suffered from the scars of battle or something else was unknown even to Feng. All Feng could do was suppress the maniacal urges through willpower alone, that is until he felt too much physical weakness to think straight.

Oliver and Twist would be given a few hours to rest from their trek while Feng attempted to steady his mind by ordering soldiers to switch places, walk around the fort, and do other mundane tasks. The calming feeling of control helped against the sadistic urges, though ironically fed these same urges, too; after all, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Anyway, the battle would start while Oliver and Twist took the much needed break, unless the two assassins had other plans for Feng. Why wait when you can ambush? Regardless, the battle in and around the fortress wouldn't wait for anything. Bloody screams and the clang of metals would resonate through the ears of all within the fortress' walls once thought to be impenetrable.

Feng wanted to join the battle and let his sadistic urges rage, just for a little, "enough to let them pass." Feng couldn't keep his thoughts to himself for a split second, so his advisors glanced at the once mighty General Feng with worried expressions. Feng could not longer stop shaking from the pain, sweat gushing from his gasping pours, eyes bloodshot, back arched, and skin white as snow. Feng looked like he was one step away from being a corpse, a sorry state for a mighty man. Whatever toxin had been used on Feng was working wonders at this point, though the most wondrous spectacle was Feng's willpower to hid his condition up to this point in time. Feng noticed the stares and felt even more paranoid, "What!? You want to betray me, don't you!? Prove your loyalty by fighting on the front lines! FIGHT OR DIE!"

Thud...

Feng fell to the ground, seemingly lifeless. Perhaps Oliver's revenge was too late. Despite what just happened, the cowardly advisors didn't react just yet. They just seemed shocked by the surrounding battle and their General falling so suddenly. Oliver and Twist could take this chance to do something...anything.

CYRUS ARGENTUM

Cyrus had fought tooth and nail against False Emperor Gao's forces up to this point in time, though the young man's hardships had finally pilled up and given way to absolute fatigue of which no ordinary individual could stave off. Granted, Cyrus was no ordinary human being for someone of his age, but he was human nonetheless and started to notice his vision fading. However, Rokusai's reaction might cause Cyrus to notice something off during his fading into unconsciousness; Cyrus' mount stopped suddenly, scared by something the animal could not see yet clearly felt. An ominous presence lingered within the air which only Rokusai could sense but Cyrus could see!

The ambiguous figure spoke something odd which Cyrus might only remember vaguely in his dreams, if at all. After a few moments of what sounded like gibberish to the fainting Cyrus, the mysterious figure disappeared from Cyrus' sight yet kept Rokusai in a state of shock. Enemy soldiers noticed the general killer's sign of weakness and attempted to take advantage of the opportunity to kill a man who killed a general of Gao's mighty army! However, allied soldiers of Cyrus stepped in to save the life of the now unconscious hero, thanked him for his service, and finally said the magic words, "You can rest now, sir..." Cyrus and Rokusai were dragged out of the battle by their allies in order to preserve their power for the future of True Emperor Yoshiro's army.

[Cyrus' Battle 2 plot is now complete! Congratulations on your valiant efforts in aiding Yoshiro's army! You will be rewarded once this thread has been completed.

P.S. - Do what you will with the "mysterious figure"~

Half way to the castle, Rokusai would stop and look around Cyrus, despite his injuries was still intent on making a stand but as much as his mind wanted to push forward his body would falter on him. Falling off of his steed, his sister and brother in law would stop and rush by his side. Whilst Ariana fought off the enemies who tried to find an opportunity to pick up an easy victory by killing the man who slew one of their generals, Wei Hao would rush both Cyrus and his deer to safety. In the midst of this kerfuffle, Cyrus would hear a voice calling to him. He didn’t know who it was or why it called to him so consolingly. “There is more fore you to do…it may take some time but don’t give up” it would say. In Cyrus’s mind, the being began to take corporeal form. When Cyrus could finally focus on him he saw a man that looked like an older version of himself. He was simply dressed but adorned with his mother’s whistle and his father’s electrum headband. Instead of a scythe he had a scepter he would smile and say “You’re journey may begin at the dead of night so it may be long and perilous but stay the course and you will see the dawn” Cyrus was unsure what that meant but he knew that he would have to train to make sure that he was ready for whatever challenges were to face him. He had fulfilled his duty to his sister, which meant he was free to do whatever he wanted. But for now he would rest in the camp gathering his strength before leaving to become the hero of the poor and the champion of the needy.

"Well shit..." Were the first words Endolf could mutter under his breath as the realization sunk in. This WAS Jingyi, the girl who had fought beside, befriended and taught to befriend her stubborn goat Dullahan. What had happened to her, he would never know. Instead all he could do, as he worked over some kind of plan to keep himself from dying, was hold himself tall like the wounds he had suffered meant nothing to him. Staring his former friend down she lectured him, telling how if the situation were different she would offer to help him yet because things were the way they were she herself confirmed it wouldn't play out that way.

Drawing her blade she declared he was to fight her, honoring her in the fact she would be his final opponent. Bloody and exhausted Endolf could only help but crack a smirk at her words as Dullahan raced off to cut him off from the hatches. "That's hands down the most adorable thing you've said to me yet Jingyi. And you were pretty adorable when Dullahan wouldn't listen to you." Taking a steady breath he knew what he was about to do. "I was going to give you the option of surrendering to me. But I think I'll make you work a little more for that chance first."

Paying no mind to the goat behind him or the mutated woman before him Endolf lifted a single leg up, tucking his knee tight to his abdomen before slamming the heel of his foot down into the floor under him. Cracks would spread out from the point of impact, delaying the collapse long enough for him to offer a cheeky salute to his one time friend before the floor gave way out from under him. Landing below he would wince as his wounds became agitated from the landing. He needed treatment, that was obvious. Hua and her men should still have been close enough that he could at least make it to a rendezvous and earn at least some reinforcements to cover him. At best Hua or her one of her men would be able to patch him up long enough to handle Jingyi himself.

Dashing off at full A-tier speed he headed for the last area he had left his companions, right before he had seized the gatehouse if his memory served correct. He could only hope they were still there, or at least he could catch up to them before the pain became too much.

eeing the smirk the other wore, Jingyi's own smile turned into the angry smile of a predator. "Then come and fight me already," she shot back with a snarl, the expression baring fang-like teeth. Her blade raised up, the tip aiming towards Endolf as she prepared her attack upon the wounded man. However, she paused in cold realization when he raised his foot. As his heel met the tiled flooring, Jingyi dashed forwards in an attempt to stop him before he escaped.

But, he dropped through the hole without a problem. The last thing the general saw of him before he disappeared was the insulting wave, a mockery that set her blood ablaze. "Come back here, you yellow-bellied coward!" Jingyi roared as she reached the hole, watching as the red blur dashed off to meet his comrades. Frustratedly, she ran her fingers through her hair, tugging at the locks as Jingyi glanced about the empty room.

Her gaze dropped to a small, unassuming package which she quickly fished off the floor. As she was sheathing her blade, Jingyi's eye was caught by the bandages wrapped around her hand. She picked at it, peeling it off before glancing at Dullahan. With a click of her finger, the goat used his Healing Tongue on the cut. The saliva tingled on her skin, but Jingyi ignored the sensation as she wrapped the bandages around the now smaller wound.

"C'mon, Dulla. We better check up on the boys downstairs," Jingyi muttered to him, giving her beast an affectionate pat on the head. Afterwards, Jingyi rushed downstairs to the bulk of her forces with A-tier speeds.

They had managed to climb up, with only a few stops here and there for Oliver to take a breather in a precarious alcove due to his wounds giving him trouble. But he wasn't letting that stop him anytime soon. No, he was going to continue to push forward and keep on trudging his way up the cliffside with his new companion until they finally got to the top, and he could roll over onto his side and groan in pain from the wound having reopened in a few spots.

A few hours of rest and recuperation was gladly needed, with Twist hopefully staying by his side during that time, Oliver would be resting on the best, on his stomach, grumbling about the uncomfortable feeling of the sleeping position rather than the dull pain in his back. It would be healed up fully in this time with the medical team at the fort, but it would remain as a nice scar. The scar of someone who tried to run from their attacker as many might see it, but he knew it was from a surprise attack.

During his rest, the battle began, so much fighting going on outside, and when he finally stirred awake, Oliver groaned and felt the new bandages on his torso, having been partially disrobed for the sake of treating the mark. He would find his jacket at least, and throw it on to leave his bandaged torso exposed. He collected his weapons swiftly and looked for Twist. If he found her, he would tap her on the shoulder, "Wanna go kill some people who want to kill us? Figure we can get some recognition on the battlefield, get a bonus."

He would walk out on his own, using his staff-weapon as a walking stick, or walk out in the same fashion with Twist following him. There, they would find Feng doubling over and dying on the spot, "Well, that's a bit anticlimactic." He mumbled under his left hand, having put it over his lips like a mustache, his volume loud enough for only Twist to hear.

"Who's the next in the chain of command? And let's go find Jingyi, she's a trusted friend of mine, we can get out of this without any serious injuries with her on our side."

Oliver and hopefully Twist, would be heading out and around the fortress, looking for that red haired warrior to form up on her position and provide some backup if they could. The first thing that he could do would be to call out to her, that red haired warrior that was, according to her, most certainly not a Fanalis, but fought with the ferocity of one. Could Oliver and Twist meet up and fight with Jingyi Hou from Kou?

JINGYI HOU ||| OLIVER OXFORD

The red poison, circulating throughout their bodies, would inflict Endolf and General Hua with a pain shot throughout the entirety of their bodies. For Hua, what started out as a light pain had grown into a tremendous pain which felt like her body was erupting into flames. Only her stubborn, unyielding will allowed her to live so far. General Hua would undoubtedly die soon. Likewise, though Endolf at first would not feel the pain - overshadowed by his other injuries - as he would run from Jingyi and her forces, the pain would grow stronger and stronger until it would finally make itself known to the unfortunate fanalis. Whether he manages to bandage his wounds or not, Endolf, having breathed the poisonous gas too long, has death waiting for him in only a few minutes. If he manages to reach his allies he will find General Hua dead.

As red and furious pain washed through her body again, General Hua knew it had been her fatal mistake of following that Reim boy. They had stayed too long in that damn gas. She was lucky to still be standing at this point. The pain was an endless batter against her body. She wondered how that red-head boy was fairing - probably the same as her. After all, he too breathed the gas. She groaned at her terrible life choices. Why was it that fate seemed to always be plotting against her, anyway?! Right when her revenge was in sight - right when - this happened! It was like a curse of endless troubles. And finally - when she had stupidly thought she finally had fate’s blessing, it changed on a seeming whim - or perhaps it was but a ploy of fate; cruelly show her the light then slam the door right as she approached it.

It seemed then, that her revenge would never come to fruition. Though that purely obsessive side of her still remained defiant against the truth of the matter, she wasn’t so foolish as to allow it to scar her ability to reason. Even if she managed to survive the gas’s effects long enough to reach that utterly despicable bastard and managed through the opposition which this pesky archer lead, in her severely weakened state she doubted she could fight the opposing general. How tempting the idea of blaming that gladiator for her failures, but she could not, too aware of her own failure which culminated to her doom. Though that boy was stupid, so was she. She practically followed him to her own fate of death for reasons she could not conjure other than simply insanity. Or perhaps the idea of having another person to rely on became far too enticing and far too strong to resist.

“Haa... What a fool I am...” She closed her eyes and inhaled sharply as the pain doubled in intensity. She swayed, her knees trembling beneath the overwhelming pain. A concerned voice of one of her soldiers forced her to open her eyes. With a strength which she forced herself to pretend to bear, she regarded the soldier with a distasteful glare. ”We’re in the middle of a battle, for the gods’ sakes! Fight! The soldier’s eyes widened and he immediately spun around to continue fighting. That fool - but she too exhibited the signs of stupidity beyond reasonability.

She gritted her teeth, trying to still remain a strong figure in the eyes of her soldiers. Like hell she would show her soldiers any sort of weakness - even if she was dying. She would not let her soldiers' last memories of her be that of a weak woman, but that of a warrior who died valiantly to protect her country. A confident smile spread across her face. With the stance of a proud general, she looked upon her enemies with a defiant stare, though she could hardly see through hazy and clouded veils placed upon her eyes. With a loud war cry, she dove into the thicket. Her steps, she swore, were erratic in nature. And faintly she heard the calls of her soldiers. But she ignored it all for one thought: 'Hold fast, Hua! If you die, it shall be of the arrow's pierce - not of an assassin's tools.'

But in the end, fate simply despised her. She couldn't have her revenge - she couldn't even have her honorable death. Instead, she finally collapsed under the effects of that damned, red box.

If Jingyi does find/stumble across Endolf, he will probably be dead or dying. Either way, just before General Hua's death, the forces of Yoshiro breached the inner gate. Though with the fall of their general many soldiers have chosen to retreat some of Yoshiro's soldiers have remained to carry on the siege.

(Note: 13 of Yoshiro's soldiers remain to fight. Each soldier requires C-Tier damage to defeat. Whether you kill them, knock them out, or intimidate them into running away is up to you.)

As time passed, and Oliver searched with Twist Feng's advisor had finally come down from the shock of the battle that had been unfolding, along with what had transpired with their commander. They were not prepared at all, and soon enough they had moved Feng to a small cot and had secretly called for a nurse. The information would have to be kept secret, if it was known what had happened to fang, it wouldn't be long before the advisors would most likely see their own lives in danger. So they had sent someone dressed like a fleeing refugee, but the nurse would know who the messenger was whenever he would get to her. Hopefully, Feng's condition would not be deadly, but even though they wished for their commander to be well so he could fight and hopefully bring glory to their army, but another reason in all their minds was, of course, their own lives. When men are placed in situations where the threat to their lives become apparent the agonizing gnaw of the instinct to survive can often cloud the moral, or wisdom in their judgment.

As they looked for Jingyi, they wouldn't see her, in fact, they wouldn't really see anyone as they would keep walking around searching, but oddly enough the sounds of fighting and the roars of battles were like a chorus that could be heard where ever they went through, and around the fortress, it was a bit odd though it could always just be that all the soldiers were running around fighting, and skirmishing making it hard to pin down where the forces were, though it must be even moreso peculiar because at somepoint the sight of their allied forces besides the two of them had dissapeared too. When did things become more complicated than they were before? Whether something was actually wrong, or it was just how things appeared there was an eerie feeling that crept around the battlefield as he searched for his friend, but the real question was she looking for him and how long would Oliver have to run before finding, who or what would be beneficial to him.

After some unknown period of time had passed Oliver would see something, or rather someone who was in the distance they seemed to be getting closer, but then they seemed to be running towards a different direction. Soon enough he was in close view, it was a young boy wearing what looked like prisoner clothes. perhaps it was one of the men on his side who was captured alive for information. Whoever he was, he seemed just confused as them as he looked around before staring at them and then turned his head beginning to run back away in another direction, seeing to have his own goal, but he was still in sight incase that Oliver might want to try and catch-up with him in order to see what's going on, or learn who he was, and why he was there. Though he could also keep trying to look for his friends, who could be close by.

aking her way downstairs, Jingyi was pleased to see that Yoshirou's forces had yet to breach to the interior of the gatehouse. However, her own troops seemed to itch for combat to relieve them; their bodies were tense and they moved with a fervor that accompanied men in the moments of inaction. The woman played with the idea of surprising the attackers on the other side of the gate with a pre-emptive attack, but it would seem that they had other ideas.

As Jingyi mounted Dullahan, the cries of men could be heard as those aligned beneath Yoshirou attacked the final barrier. The grate didn't last long upon their intrusion and the attackers began to file endlessly into their box.

"Hold steadfast! Show these cowards the true might behind Gao's soldiers!" Jingyi bellowed to her men, watching with satisfaction as her men quickly took formation. Within moments, a shield wall blocked the opposing soldiers from advancing any further. The archers took aim, letting loose their arrows. The soared in an arc, dropping onto the unsuspecting men trapped within the walls of stone and shield.

One of Jingyi's Magicians took to the air himself, observing few men that remained from the onslaught. He quickly dropped back down to the General's side, proudly informing her of the small number that remained. When the words reached Jingyi's ear, a look of consideration passed her face.

"Shields, fall back! Infantry, ranks! It's time our own steel fell these men!" She harshly ordered. The men baring shields promptly separated into two, funneling Yoshirou's remaining forces to the waiting maw of Jingyi's soldiers.

The bulk of Gao's men charged forward with a piercing cry, their swords crossing against those of Yoshirou's soldiers. The sounds of combat intensified at the meeting as man fought man in a desperate bid to defeat the other. It was a cruel sight, one that temporarily forced Jingyi's stomach to drop. Her gaze flickered, watching as more bodies -men of both armies- hit the floor. A lump formed the woman's throat, a tiny voice telling her that they were dead because of her - and that more laid dead outside from the very defenses she orchestrated.

Her red eyes squeezed closed, her head shaking furiously. No! They were dead because this was a war- combat. Fighting. It was the way the tree fell from the axe's blow. There wasn't anything she could do more for them. They made the choice to participate in the combat, not her. With a deep breath, Jingyi forced open her eyes. With one swift motion, she unsheathed  Yu Chang. The blade felt lanky in her hand; too heavy for her palm. But with a nudge to Dullahan's side, the woman raced forwards anyways.

Dullahan charged the first for she met, knocking the man down and running over him with all of his strength. His yell of anguish landed on deaf ears. She couldn't afford to feel pity or show weakness now. Turning Dullahan around, Jingyi lashed out with her sword at the nearest foe, striking him down. Her eyes lingered on his form, and her body froze. The pesky voice hissed in her ear whilst the grip on her sword loosened. But then Dullahan jerked, and Jingyi was forced to tear her eyes away from the sight.

During the fight, Jingyi kept her eyes averted from her blade. The crimson hue would've distracted her - sickened her - if she looked at it. Instead, she shoved all words of protest down and focused on the job ahead of her. Yes. She had a duty to her nation. She had to fight. They were all doing a job, and she had to be efficient in doing it.

Disembarking Dullahan, Jingyi tried to jump into battle. While Dullahan bucked a foe with his intense strength, Jingyi attacked another with a shaky stab of her sword. Dullahan savagely continued his onslaught, trampling down another man before sending another flying with a well-placed charge.

Unlike her partner, Jingyi found herself at a loss. Her newfound tail led to the woman stumbling, her body still wholly unused to the new limb. The strikes of her sword were clumsier, and it was obvious to anyone who cared to watch Jingyi that she was struggling.

Jingyi jumped at a man with a downwards swing, only for her steel to hit the earth in a complete miss. The soldier jumped away after the fact, his own weapon raising as he snarled an insult that was lost to the din of combat. Jingyi's eyes stared at Yu Chang blankly before a fury filled those eyes. In a moment of bravado melting into viciousness, Jingyi left her blade to lunge at the man. Her claws raked across his exposed neck, the blow knocking him back.

The attack left Jingyi breathing shallowly, her gaze dropping to the now stained hand. In her moment of distraction, a soldier -enraged at seeing the general cut down his fellow man- attacked her. He grabbed Jingyi by her braid, yanking her back harshly. The action sent a terrified jolt down the woman's spine, her eyes widening in surprise. Her hand flew to the other blade she carried, unsheathing it before Jingyi pulled herself away. Both hands wrapped around Chun Yu's handle, her heels digging into the cold ground of the gatehouse. In the moment of freedom that Jingyi had from her attacker, she spun. Her blade arched out, hitting both the man and 2 other nearby soldiers in Mamushi: Spinning Tassel. Despite the simplicity of the technique, Jingyi's sword struck down all three giving her ample breathing room to recover her other blade.

Jingyi spent the rest of the battle cutting down whatever soldier of Yoshirou's she encountered. She sliced her blade through one man's stomach while another was clawed in the face. Her next foe didn't fare better, his armor penetrated by a stab with Yu Chang. Another attempted to sneak up on the furious woman only to be cut down by her blade.

The fighting between the two armies continued, with Yoshirou's forces quickly being succumbed by Jingyi's men. The moment came when mercy was offered - give up their weapons in order to not be immediately killed. Whether they were executed later for their support to Yoshirou or merely imprisoned would be up to another to decide.

Once everything was over, Jingyi simply stood there. The grip she held over her weapons slackened, her gaze dropping to look at her bloodstained weapons. With a quick motion, the woman sheathed her weapons before whistling for Dullahan to come over. With an order to her men to "punish the prisoners if needed, but try not to kill them", Jingyi temporarily left.

With Dullahan following behind her, the general walked through the battlefield. Her feet led her outside of the gatehouse. The Red Box's gas has long since disappeared, and her eyes fell upon the abandoned fields. Mu Zan had done an amazing job of giving her own soldiers some breathing room and once she was done, her next goal would be to thank the man.

However, Jingyi needed to finish what she came outside to do. While inside, Jingyi didn't see hide nor hair of Endolf, and the last time she had seen the Fanalis he was in extremely bad shapes. A pit at the stomach of her gut warned her of the worst, but her conscience demanded that she at least checked. Approaching the main camp where Yoshirou's forces once parked themselves at, Jingyi discovered him.

Her breath escaped her in a single sigh, her gaze averting from his body. Perhaps it was a blessing after all that he fled. Her hand wouldn't have been able to cut him down if the man did decide to fight her. With Dullahan watching, Jingyi began to collect different wooden materials that Yoshirou's army had left behind in their retreat. After breaking the larger ones into manageable pieces, the woman arranged it into a pyre.

Now came the hard part. Looking at Endolf, a ball quickly formed in her throat. Forcing it down, Jingyi pulled him onto the pyre and arranged him - arms by his side with his weapon with him. However, those marked with a Magic Circle were pocketed - she would find a better use for them than the dead. Finally, it came for the money. Pulling open his palms, Jingyi left coins in them and curled the cold fingers around them. While she was unsure if it was true in Reim, but in Kou, it was believed that the dead passed with money as to pay the ferry. Once she was done, the woman took what was remaining of Endolf's money before stepping back.

She glanced towards Dullahan before raising her hand and signaling towards the wood. Understanding her order, the beast would lit it aflame with his electricity. The spark caught, and flames quickly engulfed the makeshift pyre. While it wasn't the best burial, Jingyi figured that it was better than the vultures who had already begun to circle.

With a heavy heart, Jingyi climbed on top of Dullahan. With a final glance to the growing fire, the general kicked the beast into motion. She still had her duties to oversee back at the fort, after all.

There were a lot of things going on, from the battle outside to the collapsing general. So much going on and so little time to decide on what to do. Oliver and Twist saw to it to put Feng's body on a cot. He just sighed and rubbed the side of his head, thinking to himself Whether he gets better or not I could care less--So long as he dies in the end the bastard.

After that little thought, he and twist would be leaving the room and looking to meet up with Jingyi, but instead of finding the red haired Hou from Kou, they encountered someone in prison garbs, and running toward the fort? But--they made a sudden change of direction? Oliver just grinned and slipped a few throwing knives from his sleeves, three in each hand ready to be thrown. "COme on, we have someone to hunt down and question." Oliver would be taking off for the prison dressed fugitive.

Oliver would be giving chase, he hadn't heard about any prisoners, and this garb just stuck out to him. Not to mention running for the fort and then changing direction vastly, he was eager to find out what this figure had to tell them. Whether they wanted to or not.

First, he would make sure Twist was with him or not, and whatever the reason, he would be throwing a warning shot, one of those knifes being thrown toward the figure, aimed for the ground in front of those running feet. It could be stepped on and slice that foot of the person, but it was mostly done to try and get them to stop. "Hey hold still! I have a few things I want to talk to you about okay?"

"Next one's cutting your ankle!"
He said with a cheerful tone while readying to throw more knives. Best to give this person a fair chance to give up or defend themselves. But any sign of retaliation would be met immediately with throwing knives thrown straight at their body to hit the chest and look to pierce a lung.

JINGYI HOU ||| OLIVER OXFORD

The remainder of Yoshiro's invading forces fell swiftly to the magic of the magicians, arrows of the archers, and swords of the soldiers - and of course to the horns of Dullahan. And despite Jingyi's internal conflict, she too took down many enemies. With Yoshiro's forces surrounded by all enemies and many under Hua's command having fled the moment she fell, when the general of the fort, Jingyi Hou, offered mercy they had no choice but to accept. Though indeed their future remained unknown. Whether they would be allowed to keep their heads or not remained up to an infamously brutal and cruel man - and most likely for their support of Yoshiro, not. But in all honesty, an unlikely chance sounded better than no chance. Except for one soldier that is...

How very kind of Miss General Hou to offer mercy - but she might as well kill them now. Like it mattered if they lived a little longer. Sooner or sooner (because later was far too wishful in his opinion) they would have their heads chopped off for swearing loyalty to Yoshiro. Furthermore, how dare his brothers tarnish their honor by choosing to live rather than remain loyal to their country to the end? He gritted his teeth. Such a disgusting show of cowardliness! Yet he would give them a chance to redeem themselves. A chance to salvage their honor and pride. He truly hoped the men he had grown close to over the many days and months of fighting would prove to be better than the men who had fled for their lives when Hua died. Such numbers also included his former best friend much to his displeasure and...chagrin.

In the presence of the enemy, he shouted to his fellow soldiers words of encouragement. "Come now, oh brave soldiers of our emperor, Yoshiro! Surely we shall not concede to the enemy so easily? To the enemy - Gao! He who would prefer to throw our wives and children into slavery where they shall toil and suffer for the rest of their lives! And you are willing to cede to him? What about your honor? To die for the country - a warrior's greatest honor! Should we not die by our enemies' blades, then it would be better to die by our own - for then, our enemy cannot gain information from us." Yet despite his passionate speech, not a soldier moved to take up their swords. After a moment of no action, he sneered at his fellow soldiers. Saying, "I see none of you are truly loyal to Yoshiro's cause. And not even for your own honor shall stop you from surrendering to the enemy. Fine then! Though you all may prefer life to loyalty, I shall never forsake the cause I have fought for to the bitter end!"

He then turned to face Jingyi with a determined look in his eyes. "Know this - you were lucky this time. Your enemies were never fit to be called soldiers - and the true soldiers fell before a battle could ever commence. But one day you shall face a soldier. I hope you are prepared." With his final words, he rammed his sword into his body.

(And, with a dramatic flourish/ending, Jingyi's battle plot is complete. You have successfully defended the fort from the invaders. Once this thread has closed, your reward will be given to you. Congratulations for surviving!)

Things seemed to be going great for the messenger, he was sure that he would be able to make it towards his goal without a hitch, sure one person some him but there was no problem with that, after all besides that no one else had. Everything would be great for him, That was until he was suddenly caught off guard when a knife would suddenly hit the ground in front of him. Immediately looking back. It was the person who had seen him earlier, and honestly, this would get to the messenger. Time was frozen for him as he thought of what he should do next now that someone who could possibly be an enemy would capture him. Ever possible solution he could think of would run through his head, but he knew that if he ran it would be an automatic admission of guilt, and he didn't feel like dying at this moment. He gulped to himself as he soon came to a decision, and would soon enough turn around with his arms up and a placid expression on his face.

He didn't speak for a moment, sitting in silence and mostly waiting for the man and the companion he thought he saw earlier to come closer to him, hoping to see what side they were on. but he knew that no matter what the best thing he could do is act cool, and go along with the situation as much as possible. "H-hey what's wrong did I do something to you?" He asked in what seemed like a genuine voice, not seeming to be a threat to Oliver. He was quiet though for the most part, and watched Oliver as intently as possible, to see if he was dealing with someone merciless or someone he might be able to fool.

All the while the sounds of battle continued to rage around behind them like a chorus to their scene, but yet they were the only people in this play at the moment. The supporting characters somewhere off on their own, waiting for the rest of the key moments to enfold to bring the long-awaited conclusion.
there. Though he could also keep trying to look for his friends, who could be close by.

Oliver had his target in his sights, he wasn't going to be letting his guard down to anyone this time, drunk, emaciated or otherwise. If this was what it was like to live the life of an assassin then so be it. He could only grin with mischief at the way the person seemed to be getting uneasy. Twiddling his knives about between his fingers, the clacking of metal on metal ringing out, he spoke to the prison fatigues wearing person, "No, but you can come with me for questioning. No I will not take no for an answer. Now come with me."

Oliver wasn't really taking no for an answer, he was fast, and he was accurate with those knives. Even if this person wanted to start running, it would take a moment to build up to top speed. And any direction they leaned, Oliver would be throwing knives at them, aiming for the legs, specifically behind the knees (that is right behind the knee cap) to make it as painful to run as possible.

He could only hope this person gave him an excuse for a chase. If they wanted to run that was fine, but he would hunt them down. This fight was more or less over, and anyone suspicious sticking out like this was highly suspect. "You can tell me who you are as well, now come on. I'm taking you inside to be questioned. Come quietly and no harm will befal you. Put up a struggle and I'll fill you with more knives than a porcupine."

Apparently going through all of the shit he went through last night made him just a little bit salty. So salty that he was willing to make a drastic change in his character to ensure that he wouldn't have anyone pulling the wool over his eyes again!

ingyi, as the "general" of the fort, decided that it would be best for her to check in with their prisoners of war before speaking to Zu-Man. They were still her duty and perhaps she could glean something from them. Riding past the bodies still littered from the destruction brought upon them by her defenses, Jingyi found the gatehouse to be populated by her men, their captured soldiers, and the bodies who layed lifelessly.

The weapons of the defeated were still being collected as a madman started to rant. Disembarking Dullahan, the woman stood by her beast and watched. They had already stolen so much from Yoshirou's forces, the least she could do was allow him to speak, Jingyi reasoned. His words were certainly passionate and spoken from the heart but it was tainted by the bitterness of rage. But the worse part was how they struck clear and true - countless toiled away beneath Gao's policies that endorsed slavery. The greatest end for a hero is to die in glorious battle - to be stabbed in the front as a hero rather than the back as a coward.

Unfortunately for the unnamed man, none moved in his audience. They shifted and exchanged glances but not one of the captured soldiers moved to wrestle away any weapon to still die honorably. It was a pitiful sight, really, one that burdened Jingyi's already weighed heart. Dedication and loyalty the man had garnered him nothing but death's waiting hand. He lacked the power to keep him going - the only thing that had kept her, herself, separate from his fate.

While Jingyi didn't move to stop him from lifting his nearby sword -who was she to rob him even further?- the general hadn't expected to be addressed. Her ruby eyes met his, her face blank of emotions. What was she supposed to say? Her throat dried and her tongue seemed too large for her mouth as the soldier spoke of who she was meant to face. Not a finger twitched, not even her finger, when he impaled himself upon his blade. A moment later, his body was as lively as the corpses that surrounded him.

She would end up standing there for a moment longer before gesturing for Dullahan to follow her. It took the pair a while to locate Zu-Man in the massive fort, but eventually, she found the man in question. She walked up to the ranger and cleared his throat to get his attention.

"Zu-Man... I wanted to commemorate you on the work you did today during the battle. You really helped us out with your archers and I think you showed a lot of great skill," Jingyi told him, her characteristic smile spreading tiredly across her face, "I would love to fight with someone like you at my back, so... As an official order, join my band and continue to fight alongside me, Zu-man!"

Regardless of what Zu-man's answer to the woman's... interesting proposition, Jingyi would nevertheless retire from the battlefield. Whether or not she left the fort itself depended on the orders of the officers above her requested. But, for the day, the woman regarded herself as officially finished with the seige. It was time for her to clean up and take care of whatever duties that layed before her.

Oliver's methods were a bit cruel, and sure he was bullying the target he found, but this was war after all. It was brutal, and sometimes the rules were ignored. Which is why this messenger thought, and much to Oliver's benefit, to rat out his commanders status to save his own life. It was disloyal, but with the threat on his life, he felt his anxieties push him to instead of blatantly give away his commander's condition lifted the message up. Soon enough the scroll was eye level with Oliver, it was made from fine paper and seemed to be an incredibly ornate despite the simple clothing of the messenger who had been caught and even though he hadn't said who he was, it was seemingly an unspoken truth at this point. In order for the message to be read a small lock would have to be open, and then a neatly pressed wax seal would have to be removed, but that would be a small task. The lock, however, might be more difficult for Oliver, the messenger didn't have the key due to the well thought out messenger system of their forces. It might be able to be broken, but who knows what risk that held for the message.

As the messenger awaited his fate, and to see if Oliver would be able to open the lock and figure out the details of the enemy forces there was a small glint in the background he saw. To anyone at this distance, it would appear to be the glare of the sunlight, or something similar. Then just as he had looked at it longer for a second there was a sudden flash of a shadow and the glare was gone again. Then the messenger gasped suddenly and nothing came out, he wasn't having trouble breathing and he was in no pain but suddenly he could make no more noise.

The sudden muteness of Oliver's prisoner would not be obvious, and he himself didn't know why he couldn't speak. The only way Oliver would be able to figure out the situation would be through opening the message now, what a peculiar situation that was brought about, would either of them find out this mystery, or would Oliver focus on turning the battle in his sides favor in even the smallest way.

While his soon to be captive was wise enough to not run, they didn't think about coming closer at all. They offered a message of some sort, but Oliver had to be a little more tactful about responding to that. If he went for it and lowered his arms, it might pose a chance for hte messenger to run. Instead he just showed his body in a ready stance and gave an order.

"I want you to walk slowly to me, two seconds between each step you take and bring that over here. When you're just out of arm's reach you're to turn around and walk three paces in front of me. We're going inside to deliver that message and keep you company until we figure out one: what the message says. And two: why you decided to pull the silent treatment all of the sudden."

Oliver wasn't the wisest when it came to magic. ANd the sudden silence of his captive seemed to be magical in property, but he had no means of solving the magic. Nor was the message his to read. It would be better to deliver the messenger and the message directly, and then be on his marry way. The messenger had the option to follow Oliver inside and get to delivering that message to the wrong people but for the right reasons.

Though, if he really thought about trying to run, Oliver would be throwing a volley of as many knives as he could within three seconds to turn the body of this poorly-dressed messenger into a porcupine made up of metal knives, just the pointy bits would be inside their body inside of pointed outward.

SO now it was up to the messenger. If everything went through, Oliver would be delivering them to the highest ranked official in the fort he could find, minus the ailing general, because screw that guy.

The mute messenger was a bit confused when Oliver had shared his plan with him, he looked like he wanted to say something. Each time being stopped, being stopped by the magical block in his speech. Letting out a soft sigh as his mouth opened wide "—...!" Before soon giving an expression of defeat as he would do exactly as Oliver had asked him to do in terms of bringing the message over towards him.  Something about his expression was off, but it wasn't long before his expression shifted to that of a placid one everything about him calm. Each step seemed to take hours as time began to slow down, events like this feeling like an eternity in the mind of many young soldiers far from home in these harsh times.

Suddenly as the messenger stopped when he was supposed to and looked to Oliver with that peaceful expression like everything was alright, and slowly his face soured as tears crept from the corner of his dulling eyes he opened his mouth, mute but the words he mouthed clear. "I-I'm— s-orry." In what seemed like years, happened in milliseconds, as his body began to light up and expand, the crackling of his bones loud as he exploded from deep inside. Flesh shrapnel pollinating the surrounding the earth with tragedy and direful tones. There had been no signs of this, there was no warning and there was no sight of anyone nearby who could've triggered the explosion. Soon the air would calm, and there would be no sign burn marks or anything of the like on the ground, they had only wanted to kill the messenger.

Now that the messenger was dead, and there seemed to be no lingering threat the fate of it all would now rest with the letter. Oliver could do what he wants with it, as things were going the battle could end at any time but it was only audio so the way the tide was turned would be uncertain to him. His decision was his own, and either way, life would continue on, and so would the loss of countless innocent.

Well there wasn't much that he could say or do as the mute started to expand. Other than, of course, diving out of the way as their body creaked, cracked, and popped, resulting in a fancy light show and leaving Oliver to pick himself up off the ground, clutching onto the letter and rubbing the back of his neck, "Well, magic is a bitch."

"Rest easy wherever you went."
He said to the now gone body of the messenger while rushing inside. He needed to deliver this letter, and when he came to the office of the general, Oliver would knock and look to see himself in. If there was no one there he would keep looking around until he located someone of authority to deliver the message to.

When the letter was handed over, Oliver would speak up about it, "I caught someone outside of the fort trying to sneak around with this. I would be careful with tinkering with it, the messenger that I caught was under some sort of spell that when he tried to reveal information about the letter he was rendered mute, then blown up from the inside out."

"That being said, is there anything else you need of me before I go and join the battle?"

Oliver had found himself among quite a few important people for their side in his search for someone to bring the letter too. They lifted an eyebrow as he did so thinking it was a bit impressive that this random lad had brought them something that could've been important information for their side of the war. A few of them would congratulate him before the one who was 2 meters in front of him grabbed the letter holding it and slowly pulling it away from Oliver's hand. "Good job young lad, but there's no reason to go out it seems that the battle is closing to an end without an obvious victor at this moment. " He paused for a moment looking at the letter. "We need to recount our resources—" He paused with his mouth open as his sentence was stopped as his face went pale with horror.

The official wax seal on the back of the letter began to twist and change as official Kou emblems turned into what looked like a grimacing imp before instantly flashing bright.

The plan had worked perfectly, a destructive bomb delivered right into the base of their enemies. It was made to explode soon after entering a certain area. It was made this way so that it would explode even if he read it and then brought it back to his base. He could've opened it and thrown it away, or maybe another method. In a matter of milliseconds, the magic letter exploded with what looked like some bizarre dark magic that would not kill Oliver but would kill the others and damage the base that was in it's path.

No matter what was done after the instant explosion most of the base would be in ruins and plenty of body's that were blown away in an explosion of balefire. As the deafening sound would end two things would quickly become obvious to Oliver quickly. He would not be able to hear out of his left ear, and the entire left side of his head would be afflicted with a powerful throbbing, heat, and intense pressure as the magic seemed to be affecting him more, something would be happening soon, he might want to find a reflection.

Combat Details- The letter exploded dealing B-tier damage to all in 15-meter radius

Willow felt as though he had done something good. He went out into the night to sabotage some enemies, wound up getting injured in the process and accused of many things he had no hand in the action of, and then wound up coming back with a scar to show for it. Still, he was alive.

Then he happened across an enemy messenger and detained them momentarily, taking what information tat he could out of them before they blew up. Nearly caught in the blast as a result, but still, he was alive.

Now he felt like he was nearly done as the person he delivered the letter to said that the battle was nearly over. When Oliver started to turn around to respond to the older gentlefolk, he could only get a similar reaction to his face that the person who saw the imp seal had, "Oh you have got to be fu-" He was cut off by the sound of the explosion.

Still, he was alive. Sure as sure can be, after the blast of light and concussive wind, many were left dead, dying, wounded, or in Oliver's case, charred and bruised. Rubble was strewn about the room, walls were toppling over as the sound of loose stones rolling across each other rang out. Larger stones shifting about as someone was digging their way out of a pile of rubble.

Oliver had survived, shoving a slab of stone off of a mound of mortar and bricks that had fallen around him. He had a rather perturbed look on his face, one hand clutching onto face over his left eye. "THIS, is why I bloody well hate magic! Who in their daft mind would put a bomb inside of an ink seal?!" He shouted in annoyance.

But as he did, something dawned on him, he couldn't hear out of his left ear at the moment, and as he uncovered his left eye, he realized that his vision was blurry for one half, and clear for the other. No-- no-- no. no. no. no, no, no, NO NO NO!

The word repeated in his head as he staggered through the rubble, trying to smack the side of his left head to jar things better. He could still see and hear perfectly out of the right side, but the left side of his body moved with a limp through the destroyed room of the base while he went looking for a mirror or something reflective.

He needed to see what he looked like to confirm if his worst fears were coming to life. Though, his hallucinations were already setting in. His face was heating up, he felt like he had pins and needles all over his head and neck. There was a ringing in his ears, not the normal one from the bomb, but it was more like, he was imagining and playing it up. He felt isolated from the world as his mouth went dry. This couldn't be happening to him. He didn't want this to happen to him. It wasn't supposed to happen.

NO! NO! NO! No. No. No. No, No, no, no, no-- no-- no... the words were trailing off as reality was setting in. He didn't really need a mirror to tell what was wrong with his ear. He just dropped down to his knees on his way to seek some form of aide and shouted out while clutching onto the left side of his face with both hands, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Despite all of Oliver's cries and attempts to bring back his hearing all he would be responded with is a powerful piercing pain in his left ear and a still blurry eye. The explosion had partially broken Oliver off from the world, the torture teasing him with a taste of the thing he feared.

Whether or not he would keep screaming he would soon be aware of the fact that there were more changes to his body from the bomb. The wounds on his on his ear would scar a bit, and there was weird bluish-black veins on him now. Though the bomb had destroyed the fort it had yet to fully crumble, there being plenty of time for Oliver to escape, or have escaped. Despite all the information being presented to the injured boy, he would notice something new, and something intense. Vibrations would pulse through his body, and especially against his left hand as his body would tingle as it would become obvious he had gained a new sense as well, just what was the magic in that bomb?

It was devastating, but the other side faced heavy losses. While the letter was a trap, it was meant to be delivered to the nurse and a bomb as a last resort, so in the end the general who had passed out from worry had actually died of a heart attack due to the stress. Magic or medical attention may have saved his life. The battle would end in a stalemate that could make someone think if the war was really worth it.

Combat Details: Battle over, Oliver is being rewarded with a b-tier Trait.
