Roaring voices shook the white stone walls of Endolf’s room, outside the stands of the coliseum were packed with hundreds if not thousands of spectators here to see him out in his first official match. Inside his room he sat on the edge of his bed, hands clasped in front of his mouth as his crimson eyes sat fixated on the heavy wooden door that lead out into the hallway he would walk down and enter the coliseum arena through. His heart raced but not because of the anticipation of what he would be doing in a few minutes but because of his motivation. One person’s image was fixated in his mind and caused a flame of rage to ignite in his chest and spread through his body.

Taking one final breathe the young Fanalis male stood up from his bed and took hold of his sheathed sword. Fixing it to the back of his belt, the hilt hanging off of his right side and leather straps hanging down against his right leg, he steeled himself with his rage and pulled open his door. Walking his way down the hallway towards the arena he could hear the voices of the crowds growing louder with each step. The gates opened up for him and he stepped forward into the arena, the gates closing once more behind him to ensure there was only three ways he would leave and he had no intention of allowing his opponent to make two of those options happen.

Giana listened to the crowds shouting as she awaited her opponent's appearance; she had been called out first, and would soon see what she was facing up against. Though she was new to the coliseum, Giana was confident in her skills she learned while in Kou. Hm. Father thinks my valuing of Kou traditions is useless... I'll just have to show him what I've learned! She was determined to win.

And then he appeared. Her opponent. Red hair, messy. Unkempt. He looked somewhat wild, and the strange tattoo on his arm only added to that feeling. The sword at his side at first looked standard, but a closer observation made it quickly apparent that it wasn't quite normal itself.

Being a user of unorthodox weapons herself, Giana didn't fear the sword so much as she respected the possibility of strange attacks from it. Held in each of her hands was what looked to be a stick; it imparted the idea of her style being a dual eskrima wielder. Getting into a defensive pose as they were instructed to begin, Giana began to slowly move forward. "Show me what you've got!" She wanted him to be the first to move, and invited him to attack.

OOC:

I noticed in your appearance for your profile it says that you have a tattoo written in the Kou language. Not sure how staff missed that, but just as an FYI the different countries all speak and write in the same language. The only different language is the Torran language, which isn't well-known to a whole lot of people.

Endolf’s opponent was standing out in the arena, waiting for his arrival. A woman who seemed to have taken to the Kou culture by the manner of her wardrobe. In each hand was a stick, her weapons of choice from what Endolf estimated. None of it phased him though, he simply found the memories of his previous trip to Kou fueling him. He watched her take a defensive stance and try to creep towards him slowly while egging him on to “Show her what he’s got”. That was fine by him.

The ground cracked slightly under his boots as he dashed towards her, his Fanalis strength already being put to use. He didn’t even bother pulling out his sword from his sheath and instead threw his tightly clenched fist towards her stomach as he closed the distance between the two of them.

Giana watched Endolf's movements; his burst of speed caught her slightly off-guard, but there was some distance between the two that allowed her to react to the Fanalis warrior. The two fans rose up into the air at a fast rate, creating an 'X' pattern in the air as she brought a Falling Moon down upon Endolf's rising fist. The resulting clash would overpower the Fanalis' strike, imparting upon him a small amount of pain.

At least it was not enough to cause his hands to no longer function.

Smiling, Giana flicked her wrists, revealing the weapons for what they truly were; a pair of fans. One of the fans was held completely open while covering her body. The other fan was held at an angle, above her head and with the fan material facing towards Endolf's head and being held horizontally.

The crowd waited expectantly as the match began to heat up.

A “crack” like sound could be heard from Endolf’s fist as the woman’s rods came smashing down on top of it in response to his fist being driven towards her gut. His jaws clenched tightly from the pain as his arm dropped to his side while his opponent decided to taunt him by opening up her weapons into a pair of large, decorated fans that she proceeded to display temptingly around her body. Endolf found it to be a perfect opportunity to strike again, pushing the pain of his obviously fractured hand out of his mind to do so. Having lead in with his off-hand allowed him to grab his sword with his right hand, his main hand, in a backhand fashion and pull it from the sheath and up in a diagonal arch to cut across the body of the woman that had been taunting him.

Giana noted her opponent's advance and smiled behind a portion of her fan. She braced her legs, readying for the strike to come; Endolf had mistaken her defensive stance as a taunt. Her defensive stance was tight and strong. Even so, that did not seem to matter much in the larger scheme of things. Having chosen this tactic, it was readily apparent that she was not used to fighting Fanalis opponents. The strength behind Endolf's attack caught her off guard, and her brace for the impact with one of her two Fans was nowhere near strong enough for the strength behind the blow Endolf struck her. With a feminine 'oomph' Giana flew back four meters, and spun her to her right.

This left a true opportunity for Endolf; her left flank was open to an attack. An experienced fighter may be able to end the match with the next attack, though Endolf would need to ask himself if he had the strength to do so.

OOC:
Giana's fan takes 10 weapon hp damage.

Endolf’s strike seemed to cleanly connect to his opponent’s defenses as she seemed to be knocked back by the force of his blow. Studying her he figured he had sent her flying back about a good four meters and straightened up to look at her. It was the perfect opportunity to finish her off, she looked to be in such a defenseless position on her right side. Giving his sword a bit of a “pop” he shifted his grip from the handle to the strap that had been dangling in the air at the side of the sword. He stepped forward, knowing full well the maximum reach of his weapon would only cover about three meters and even if he were to swing it out he wouldn’t be able to catch the woman.

Keeping a distance of about two and a half meters between the two of them, the Fanalis brought down his sword much like one would bring down a chain. Aiming to impale the sharp steel into the woman’s flesh with a Delta Strike.

Endolf's movements were outside the range of her experiences, but Giana was able to regain her balance just as the blade pierced her clothing. Giana lifted the heal of her foot, pushing off with the ball of it, and twisting simultaneously. The Delta Strike had managed to hit her, though it did not cause a serious wound.

"Ahem." She cleared her throat as she moved, attempting to turn in time to meet any further assault that Endolf might engage with; this was aided with the Resting Moon technique. Many spectators would see her movements as an almost ethereal dance as she spun and twirled one of her fans about her body at a high speed, focusing on Endolf's movements and preparing for an attack by him as she advanced forward.

She would stop when she came within a meter of Endolf; it was the reach of her fan. At this point, she would flick her wrist Strike at Endolf with a horizontal attack, aimed at the wrist that held the blade, with her fan.

OOC:

Endolf could hear the crowd around the arena heating up with excitement as the fighters exchanged blows. The woman fracturing Endolf’s hand and he, in turn, striking at her side with his sword’s lashing like movement. The attack didn’t go as deep as he had hoped it would as the woman had still managed to stand up and protect herself from the following strikes with her fans. His eyes remained trained on the woman, his sword against the ground and the strap still tight in his hand. She came forward, seeming to go right for him, and as she seemed to get in range she moved to strike at his right wrist. He imagined an attempt to get him to release his weapon.

The young Fanalis pulled his arm back from her, his sword being pulled from the ground and into the air by the force. A split second later he released the strap of his sword from his hand and managed to catch the handle of his sword in his hand once it was clear of the woman’s fan. Holding his sword in a backhanded style once more he drove the hilt of his weapon forward towards the girl’s left hip to Pommel Strike her and hopefully take her leg out from under her. Following through he brought the blade of his sword up right after in yet another arch from her left hip towards her right shoulder in a Slice.

Giana looked in surprise as her attack missed; Endolf's sudden movement and switch of which hand was holding the weapon was unexpected. The subsequent strike to her hip left a dull pain in her body, and caused her to stagger backward and open up her guard. Endolf's slash cut just beneath the skin, leaving a mark across her body from the woman's hip to shoulder. Giana grit her teeth in pain. No... I... It can't end like this... It WON'T end like this! The woman was clearly at her limit, but even so there was still one more technique left to her; it was one she had only seen her teacher use once before.

Giana, four meters away from Endolf now, flicked her wrists and sent both fans flying towards the Fanalis male with a Rising Moon. One fan went towards the man's neck while the other aimed towards his legs from a diagonal manner.

When the attack was completed, she would flick her wrists back, smiling to herself for a brief moment... Before that smile went sour. Ah... The strings. I... Didn't put any on.

OOC:

2 D-Tier abilities are coming your way. Each fan is considered D-Tier. She does not have a means to retract those fans back to her, so this is your opening.

Endolf found his strikes hitting their mark on the poor woman he had been paired up against, the butt of his sword’s handle having hit her hip while his blade had followed through with a clean arching slash across her torso. Now, once more, a distance of four meters spanned between the two as Endolf kept his eyes trained on the girl. She still had her fans and if she was anywhere near as intelligent as Endolf was she would be considering some kind of attack that would involve throwing her fans at him if he got too close. As if on cue she seemed to do just that, flicking her wrists to launch her only weapons at the male. From what he could tell one had been aimed for his head while the other his legs. Without missing a beat he once more switched the location of his grip on his weapon from the handle to the straps hanging from it and began to swing it around him.

The blade traveled in a way that would create an almost dome like effect around him at a speed of 15m/s as a Wall of Blades seemed to be erected between him and the oncoming attack. The technique worked as intended, his sword clashing against the fan that had been aimed for his head first before swinging back around to catch the fan heading for his legs next. Both objects were knocked away from him. The swinging stopped and the Fanalis stood staring at his now weaponless opponent. The fool hadn’t even thought to attach any kind of way of retrieving her weapons after making such an attack.

The boy’s breathes seemed a bit labored however, the throbbing of his fractured hand seeming to intensify in his slight exhaustion. He supposed he had pressed himself a bit far, using all of those big techniques one after the other like that. But it had all but promised him the victory and as such he was going to make it his. Walking towards the girl he once again moved his sword hand from the strap to the handle, readying it for his final attack. He wanted to intimidate the girl so that she would back up further, hopefully enough that her back would be forced against the arena walls that encircled them. But regardless he pressed forward, reaching his fractured hand forward as he got closer in order to try and grab the woman’s hair. His sword raised as he did so with the sharpened top edge poised for her throat. His final blow would be a killing one. That was what he was convinced he would do. Strike for her neck with his sword much like it were the blade of a guillotine.

As Endolf walked closer, Giana nearly panicked. Fighting the panic down, she soon changed her thoughts from imminent failure to a small possibility of victory. His slow advance... He's confident in himself. Perhaps his guard will be down, and I'll be able to get my weapons back. She knew that she could not outrun her opponent. Everyone knew that Fanalis had unmatched speed, after all, and so the only option available to her was to dive past him and get her weapons back. If she were lucky, she would be able to fight on...

Worse case scenario, he knocks me out as I try to pass by him... Death was not even on her thoughts, as it was so rare that anyone actually died in the Coliseum these days. With that in mind, Giana dove to Endolf's side, hoping to catch him off guard.

A pain flared against her scalp, and it almost felt as if her eyebrows were pulled upward. The man's wounded hand had grasped at her hair, immobilizing her from moving forward. Shit. This is going to hurt... She closed her eyes tightly and clenched her teeth, awaiting a blow to her head that never came. Opening them slightly in confusion, she saw a strange sight before her; the blade was poised at her throat, and the crowd had gone silent. "Ah... I give u-" Before she could forfeit, the blade sliced against her throat and caused a gash of blood to flow outward. The blade had not fully decapitated the woman. Spurting a few times at first and getting over Endolf's clothing, the flow quickly lost pressure as she fell towards the ground. Giana continued, struggling in vain to close the hole with her hands before dying in a pool of her own blood.

There were mixed reactions as shouts of excitement overpowered the shocked spectator's silence.

The nobleman snarled at the butler, who was sprawled upon the floor like a dead pigeon. "Listen closely, Gaius. You had better get me information on the one who killed my daughter. Not just your job, but your life depends on it as well..." The man walked over to his chair, his rage in the open and plain for all to see. He stared into the abyss of his wine, furrowing his brows. "I told her... I told her it was foolish to follow those silly Kou traditions... And look where it got her!!"

The man grabbed the crystal glass while standing abruptly and threw the crystal, half-full wine and all, towards a priceless painting. "DEAD!" The sound of the shattering crystal filled the room as he shouted in anger.

The painting ruined, the man retired to his own chambers to continue to brood...

Endolf’s hand released the woman’s head as blood sprayed over him. Getting into his hair, on his face, his clothes and the exposed parts of his body that they didn’t conceal. He watched her foolishly try to grasp at the slice in her throat with her hands as she spent the last few second of her life writhing on the coliseum floor. His eyes seemed to show no sympathy or sorrow for the life he had just taken as his own. Everything around him was silent, even once the bloodthirsty spectators seemed to roar to life with excitement at the display they had just witnessed. Turning away from the fresh corpse that had formerly been a young woman full of life he slashed his sword through the air towards his side, allowing her blood to fly from the blade so it wouldn’t dull any faster than it already would. He knew he would need to clean it soon enough after this fight, but first he needed to have his hand tended to.

Sheathing his sword once more he began to walk away, the door he had entered the arena through opened once more to allow the survivor of the battle to exit. Pausing he looked to the girl’s discarded weapons which she had carelessly thrown at him. Approaching them he picked them up with his uninjured hand and inspected them before snapping the both of them closed and sticking them into the space between his waist and belt. Trophies, as well as reminders of what had happened and how he had obtained them. Leaving the arena he found several of the medical staff rushing out past him towards Giana’s lifeless body.
