A chilly breeze swept through the coliseum as Ayero stepped out into the arena, the cool winter air not bothering the scantily clad warrioress in the slightest. Normally she wore a thick cloak over her usual armor, but the outer covering had been removed in anticipation of her next match as it would only hinder her movement. The thought of a good fight sent enough adrenaline pumping into her system for her to ignore the cold for the time being. As always, the Fanalis woman drew her sword and kept her eyes glued to the tunnel at the opposite end of the coliseum while waiting for her opponent.

She couldn’t keep from a brow when a young woman appeared shortly after, making her way calmly across the battlefield. She was young and had a soft face, dressed in traditional Reimian robes and carrying a spear. Ayero’s sharp gaze raked her opponent’s body, brows knitting together slightly when she realized that the garb the young blonde was wearing was more reminiscent of that of a healer than a warrior. Brushing the observation off, Ayero geared her thoughts towards battle. Though it was her gut reaction to question the legitimacy of the other woman’s combat skills, she quickly reminded herself that it would do no good to underestimate her opponent in any circumstances. Acting on assumptions could cost her the match, or even her life.

As the bell rang, Ayero moved towards Blair at a cautious light jog. As she had predicted, the young mage watched her carefully, lips moving subtly as she muttered to the rukh. Flower Construct was cast when Ayero moved within 10 meters of Blair, the rukh working to conjure a large plant-life creature. Ayero slowed slightly upon seeing the carnivorous flower, raising her scimitar in caution as the plant-beast lashed out at her. So she’s a mage…It’s quick…! The spell’s speed matched her own, and Ayero quickly drew her blade in a horizontal manner to meet the attacking plant. Ayero’s Protect and Sever clashed with the plant’s teeth, the force of the plant’s attack putting a dent into her blade. But the force of Ayero’s attack clashed successfully, and the plant creature dissolved into rukh and dispersed.

Ayero began a light jog once towards Blair once more and dug her heels into the ground as the spell dissipated, pushing off into the air in a Great Leap. Her sword was raised in a diagonal manner across her body so that she would be readily able to clash or attack, depending on Blair’s actions. To her surprise, the young woman lifted into the air using a basic gravity magic spell and met Ayero as she was descending with a Jabbing Hit. Ah, that’s right…magicians can fly. The spear-staff combination was met with Ayero’s armored glove as she used a Simple Block to shield herself from the blow, knocking the spear to the side with her arm. As her feet hit the earth, so did Blair’s as she chose not to sustain her flight spell. Oh? Brave of her to meet me on the ground.

As soon as both women made it to the ground below, Ayero immediately dropped down and ducked behind Blair in a Swift Roll before springing upwards with her blade poised to deliver another blow. The young healer looked surprised at the sudden movement, turning her body frantically to keep her gaze on Ayero just as the Fanalis woman’s blade slammed into her borg in a Fierce Jab. The power behind the blow sent cracks spiraling into Blair’s borg from the point of contact, the magician’s shield shattering shortly after.

The blonde’s eyes widened when a single blow from the Fanalis’ blade had taken out her borg, but this did not deter her from meeting her opponent. Instead, it only urged her on to defeat Ayero quickly before letting the woman cause even more damage. The removal of her borg had shaken her slightly, but Blair’s mind was in battle mode. She used the few seconds it took for her borg to fully shatter to give commands to the rukh, casting Sweet Blossom. A vine sprouted between Ayero’s feet and the Fanalis woman looked down in bewilderment. She didn’t not know what sort of spell Blair had cast, but she knew that it wasn’t good for her to be this close to it. Feeding magoi into the Bracer of Flight she wore at her wrist, Ayero quickly lifted from the ground and  raised one leg in a diagonal manner, deflecting the rapidly growing vines with her Thighs of Steel II.

Seeing her opponent become airborne, Blair gawked for a moment before lifting in the air herself. Her eyes were steeled on Ayero with a fierce determination and her spear was held at the ready, prepared to land a blow on the red head. As she came within range, the mage flicked her spear upwards between Ayero’s legs using Child Killer. The Fanalis had been carefully watching Blair, noting that her spearmanship was not as honed as her magic. Ayero raises a leg horizontally to block the spear with her Thighs of Steel I, the spear’s blade meeting the metal of Ayero’s armor. The Fanalis raised an eye at Blair’s choice of attack.

As soon as Blair met the resistance of Ayero’s leg, she changed tactics and pulled her spear back. Twirling it behind her, the woman brought her weapon over her shoulder, hoping to catch Ayero off guard by her sudden movements. The tactic had worked, and the tip of Blair’s spear stabbed into Ayero’s shoulder. Encouraged by the success of her attack, Blair attempted the blow once more, this time aiming for Ayero’s bare midriff. Though the spear to the shoulder had caught her by surprise, it served to help bring the Fanalis woman’s attention back to the healer’s weapon. She would not be so lucky the second time. Gritting through the sting in her shoulder, Ayero brought her blade to clash against Blair’s spear.

Pushing the spear’s tip away with her sword, Ayero moved the left half of her body closer to Blair. Before the blonde woman could react, a fist to her gut would send her out of the air and onto the ground. Thankfully she hadn’t been more than a few feet from the ground, but the heavy blow to her stomach did enough damage to keep her down. Ayero slowly descended from the sky, glad that she’d managed to pull a victory as she could feel her strength draining. Casting a somewhat sympathetic gaze to Blair, she realized that she had come to admire the young woman’s courage on the battlefield. Her combat skills did need a bit of work, but she did seem to have much potential.
