Job Overview: Having secured the deed to the abandoned building you have been using as a meeting hall for the Workforce Initiative, it needs to be renovated. Oroloham sent an experienced worker to help oversee and give advice. Get it open for business!
Using funds from the Workforce Initiative Fund, Azix purchased the deed to the abandoned building in the center of the slums, to use as a base of operations. The two story wooden building had a leaky roof, but with a bit of work, would be perfect for his needs. After speaking with Oroloham he agreed to send one of his men, Victus, to help with fixing it up.
Azix got a team of workers to help as well. While he set them to cleaning up the dirt and broken furniture, he went over the plans with Victus. The first floor would open up into a reception area, beyond that would be a room dedicated to storing records and an office or two. Upstairs, there would be a meeting room with extra storage space that could be converted at a later time.
Once the building was cleaned up, some of workers begun working on the roof, replacing the wooden panels that had begun to mold. Victus guided them through the process, showing them the proper way to lay the panels and nail them. The others were with Azix, tearing down walls and putting up new ones for the rooms he wanted. Doors were installed in all the rooms and replaced at the entrances.
After those tasks were completed, the floors were swept out before the painting began. The outside walls were painted a uniform white, while the inside walls were painted a cheery sky-blue. Victus suggested using 'primer' coats to help protect the color and make sure it lasted. The workers weren't alone, Azix was among them with a brush, taking pride in his work. He listened as Victus explained which strokes to use and how to get an even, consistent coat, taking care to follow the instructions exactly.
Seeing how Azix was working, the workers respected him a bit more, he was leading through action and they saw his expectations. They stepped up their quality and sought his approval of their work. Azix would smile and offer a suggestion, if needed.
By the time they were done, the building stood out compared to the rest. Azix rented a wagon to help clear out the debris from the construction and they all helped to load it up. It was taken to a dump where they unloaded it.
Next, furniture and supplies were purchased and the building was outfitted to look like a real business. After a couple weeks of work, it was ready to be used as a proper base of operations.
Among the workers, Azix found several who could read and write to use as staff for the building. He trained them on keeping records, managing the workers and the schedule. Azix found that there were still quite a few workforce applicants who still needed to be put in training positions. There was more expansion still necessary to accommodate everyone. He kept in mind that some would be going to Imuchakk, a force of twenty split up amongst the tribes. His presence would most likely be required there to help make sure the workers adjusted to the culture.
Azix found himself outside, staring at the front door with Victus. "I think it's missing something."
Victus fussed with his beard and looked it over. "I think it could use a sign."
Azix nodded, "You're right."
Finding a leftover board, Azix designed a sign to hang above the door. With Victus' help, they carved 'Opportunity Hall' in big letters. Underneath, 'Working for a better tomorrow' was carved in smaller letters. After it was nailed up, Azix stepped back and smiled. "Perfect!"
