After officially claiming his inheritance in Magnostadt, Zion Koval rushes home eagerly. But he arrives to find it under attack by a tribe of humans from the great plains! They set fire to the wooden home that had been built atop the stone lab tower. The flames draw a curious youth from the edge of the Great Plains to the scene. Just in time to find Zion surrounded by tribal raiders on horseback.

The need for security was made clear after the attack. Zion ropes Skullkid into helping him build a wall around the tower to defend against future attacks. Neither of the two wanting to be outdone by the other, their plans and execution on the wall are excessive. Upon finishing the wall and realizing its far too big for just one tower they must figure out a use for all the space.

Zion decides that the discrimination against Goi or non-magicians held by some in Magnostadt holds no ground after spending some time with Skull Kid. He decides to make the grounds into an outpost for non-magicians entering or leaving the great plains. Perhaps some day it can even be a place for magicians and non-magicians to come together in harmony. The plans are set for an Inn, a Stable, and a Bazaar. Zion and Skullkid work together to build it, each for their own reasons.

Now that the grounds were finished they were in need of tending. Zion asks Skullkid if anyone from his tribe or famous in the great plains would be suitable. There is someone in mind, but it isn't likely he would accept. Even so, the two go together in order to seek out and recruit a man of the plains known to the winds as "Rolling Hills". He is a wise man who has won many battles despite lesser numbers and it is said that his tribe has never experienced hunger even during drought or a shortage of game. A talented manager of people and logistics will be vital to maintaining and defending the grounds while Zion is away.

He approaches Skullkid with an invitation to set out on an adventure to travel the world for a while with intention to return someday and improve on what they've built. Before the two can set off however, Rolling Hills requests a mock battle against the two in order to feel secure in letting the two youths set out into the world.
