Just as Merari thought he would have a break, just as he thought he would have an opportunity to escape the Plains, he was sent back in. A group of local woodcutters was having problems dealing with pesky snakes, so instead of sending him some amateur, wanna-be hero, they had to send a student. And since he was oh so conveniently in the area due to his previous jobs, Merari was chosen.

A kick from his foot sent a pebble flying as Merari walked down his path. Not only was he being forced to basically kill some stupid snakes, he was being forced to go into a forest of all places. Who knew what other creatures were in the place. Rats, bears, deer, and all sorts of other creatures. Not to mention the flying pillows of hates humanity called owls.

Camped outside the forest like the pack of useless men they were was the fellers. Several of them were laughing around glasses of drinks, others had cigerettes. Around them were their discarded axes as they waited for their called help. They seemed healthy enough to deal with a couple of snakes, and it would seem that they were more than glad for the distraction from work.

It took a moment, but one of the bigger of the fellers spotted him, his brow furrowing as he dropped his lit cigarette. Stomping it into the earth, the feller rubbed it in for good measure before rising to his feet. His walk was leisurely as he ambled his way over to Merari, who came to a stop himself. There was a look of amusement as the feller raised a brow, his head turning to glance at his companions with a look of, "Look at what the cat dragged in. Seriously?"

"Are ya lost, little boy?" The man inquired with a chuckle, stopping in front of Merari as he peered down his nose at the Magician. "Don't cha tell me yer the Mah-gin-scin da Academy sent," he continued, the humor disappearing from his voice, "We need more than a lil boy who still suckles from his ma, ya understand?" The feller said before turning around and walking back to his sitting spot, his fellow men throwing dubious and amused looks at Merari. They were big, bad men. How could some little boy with a stick possible get rid of some dangerous forest python? Those critters may not be able to bite a fellow and kill it with venom, but its long body was strong enough to crush someone.

Squaring his shoulders, Merari tilted his chin up as he smiled politely. He knew all too well the attitude of the men, but in all honesty, the opinion of a crow mattered more than theirs. With a smile faker than a doll and more poisonous than the smirk of a viper, Merari gestured to the forest beyond them.

"Oh, I'm not lost, but thank you for worrying. Would you all mind too much if I squeezed past and continue with my job? I'll be right back, and it's not like it'll bother you all too much. You'll be back sooner than you realize," Merari spoke, his eyes half-closing as he kept up the charming smile. When began spinning his lie so long ago his cheeks hurt to smile so brightly all the time, but by now it was first nature. Some would consider it a shame that a boy would teach himself to lie so easily, but Merari knew it to be a most needed tool.

It would seem that his reaction did not garner the response that the fellers wanted, evident from their now bored and disappointed looks. Not that their feelings mattered much in the long run. With a grunt, the head of the fellers who spoke to Merari moments earlier jerked his thumb behind him to the forest.

"Knock ya'self out. Though, we won't be rushin' in to save ya," He warned, though his only response was a thoughtful nod. With that now behind him, Merari walked around the make-shift camp, careful to avoid glass that was scattered about the men and their site.

Disappearing behind the forest, the Green Magician could hear them chattering behind him. Heeding it no mind, Merari continued to walk down the path that wound itself through the forest. It was a dirt one, with rocks littered about the path that was just barely kept clean of shrubbery.

Looking ahead of him, Merari paused as he spotted something among the branches ahead. A lithe green body was wrapped around the limb of a tree, its eyes glittering in the leaves as it watched Merari. With a hiss, a sleek pink tongue flicked in the air as it calmly waited.

Pulling out Komori, Merari pointed the staff skywards, a whisper of "Drone" escaping his lips. Seconds later he played a dull and boring tune, which the Sound Rukh eagerly copied, magnified, and weaponized. With a burst of sound, the snake was sent flying out of the tree by the spell. Hitting the ground it hissed angrily as it begun to slither to safety. Meanwhile, Merari was playing a more lively tune on Komori, and after a shout of "Gilliard!" combined with a point of his staff at the reptile a blast of Sound Magic hit the snake, killing it.

Walking over to the fallen snake, Merari nudged it with his shoe before continuing on his way. It wasn't long before he encountered another snake, prompting him to begin playing on Komori once more. The music that repeated itself attracted the forest snake's attention, causing it to dangle off the limb and swing towards Merari as the Magician pointed his wand at the creature. Before the snake can reach him, a concentrated blast of Sound Magic shot forwards after Merari shouted "Canon", catching the snake in the face, shooting it backward.

With a swagger now, Merari went on with his merry way through the forest. It was a while before he encountered another snake, and it was in this lapse did Merari lose attention of his foes in favor of thinking of the Kabuki. While passing under a slightly low-hanging branch, a snake lunged out in an attempt to wrap itself around Merari. With a flash, Borg activated, the snack striking the golden shield with the whole force of its attack before bouncing back. Borg shattered from the attack used against it, but it would be of no matter. With quick fingers, Merari plucked the strings of Komori before sweeping the staff sidewards, pouring more Magoi into the spell than he usually does. After yelling, "Allegro!", a magical boom of a sound wave occurred, killing the snake for good.

Three down, three more to do, Merari continued to walk. Luckily for him, or unluckily, the Green Magician almost fell into a pit of forest snakes. Stumbling away from the hissing messes, Merari thrust out Komori as he shakily yelled, "Alswnar!", a sonar pulse of sound magic traveling out, hitting all three snakes within the pit. Moving back from the snakes, he kept a wary eye on the pile before deeming them dead. It would seem that the infestation of snakes were dead. Now it was time to go rub it into the fellers' faces, get his money and get the heck out of dodge.
