The King’s Arm Tavern was a small inn on the backside of Reim. Although it wasn’t built in the best part of town, the rooms were cheap and so was the food, it was the perfect place for Julius to stay. The pirate wasn’t as wealthy as he was when he actually had a ship and crew, so relying on little places like this was something that had become more common to him as life went on. He’d been living in the tavern for a while, so he came to be good friends with the owner, an old man named Caesar, and his daughter named Augusta. The salty dog rested his head upon his soft pillow and the rest of his body on a comfy bed made of hay. To some, these were what pigs would lay on, to him, these were delicacies. After all, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

It was a night that’d been quieter than usual. The usual conversation and clinking of drinks was slowed. His room was usually right next to the main room, so he couldn’t go to sleep. It was oddly peaceful. It was then, Julius heard three knocks upon the door to his room. He was quick to rise from his bed. He’d been fully clothed, he didn’t usually change clothes upon sleeping. Answering the door, he saw a familiar face, Augusta.

“Augusta, what a surprise,” the sailor greeted with a signature smooth grin. Augusta was a woman more on the chubby side, she had ginger locks and freckles. She had looked oddly distressed and embarrassed over something. Julius instantly noticed this, he always tried to cheer the barmaid up when she didn’t have a smile on her face. “What’s the problem?” the scallywag questioned, his grin turning into a straight and serious frown. Augusta replied by simply pointing down the hallway towards the mainroom. Julius poked his head out to see what was going on.

There’d been a drunken Reimian man, vividly telling stories that everyone was silent about. They all gave him glares as he purposely told the story of how he’d taken advantage of various women in the war between Kou and Reim. What was worse, was that one of the men had obviously been a man from the country. He was clenching his piece of glassware so tight, his knuckles were slowly turning white, he’d also been visibly clenching his teeth. Tears formed upon his eyes. Julius knew the inn had no bouncer, so sometimes he’d have to step in to take care of things when fights broke out. The pirate took a quick look at Augusta before nodding his head. She stepped aside to allow him to walk past.

The sailor had not yet been seen by the soldier, the soldier seemed like he was arriving at the climax of his story and it came about quick. Julius grunted as he picked up the paste until he made it to the back of the table the storyteller stood on. With a quick pull to the back of the shirt, the soldier dramatically come flying off the table. He was knocked out cold with little to no effort. Afterwards, Julius took a quick look around the bar, only to see the people staring. A couple seconds of awkward silence passed before the common chatter begun again. Julius dragged the body of the soldier outside into an alley and left him there. Some streetrat would rob him later.

After the event, Augusta put a good word in with Caesar, so Julius got a couple days free of rent. Win win, Julius saved some money!
