Vodarara found himself in his primary camp, a place he had claimed of sort a good place to stockpile anything of interest he wished to experiment on that he did not wish to have left more in the open temporary camps, those were more open to scavengers rifling through their contents or other people helping themselves to the contents though he didn’t mind that it didn’t allow him to keep items he wished to keep safe and out of contact from being moved, lost or taken by others and thus why he had sort of ended up with a more active base though it did prove useful in the fact he could store a few things as well as piece’s he could bring out for stockpiling as well as a good wash place, he wasn’t the type to stay in one place for a long period of time.

This was his stockpile and the fact it was safe from the risk of Avalanche’s well that was at least what he hoped, it would be a shame to have such a large amount of equipment lost into the wilds once again like before, though at least if anyone recovered those it may be put to use but it would be a waste for him when he was constantly scouting across the icepack hunting and observing.

Though he had made a number of fragments of his life here like the markings you sometimes find in caves, he did plan to leave behind something of note maybe any creature foolish enough to decide this type of lifestyle was for them would put such a thing to use, he had designed a number of arrows over his lifetime though there were only two so far that he would call his masterpieces.

It was time to add another fragment to this, with the interesting discoveries he had made in the caverns, maybe they would prove of use in such a design or for whatever is destined to come, something to bog down ones target, now with animals a single shot to the right spot would be the correct course of action to bring down a large even greater target but against intelligent enemies normally such a thing has a far lesser chance of succeeding when the attempt is made, so either to assist in ones escape or too allow one to fletch and release more arrows a way to stop a creature in its tracks would prove rather useful.

Vodarara began work using whatever he had to hand to experiment it could be said that this was something he enjoyed discovering and observing something new, this was a thing that a hermit could only discover from things they only notice in there isolated landscape though it was a sacrifice you had to make, using a pestle and mortar Vodarara would begin blending a number of different materials from berries and leaves to fungi and animal organs to try to produce different textures, lubricants and glue’s it could be said to be sort of similar concept to his glue that he used to affix parts of arrows and components to each other but without it setting so quickly, it wasn’t the type of thing you would be able to assemble during a battle and had to last and work when needed without having to worry about it being unusable in an extremely short period of time.

It wasn’t hard in a rather short amount of time at least in his view to rule out any compounds and mixtures revolving around the glue he used to be voided, they set far too quick and wouldn’t be suitable for such a specialist contraption and design, maybe he would have to look along a line similar to the flash powders he had made before something that when rapidly heated with another substance would create something sticky that would set quickly but not too quickly that it wouldn’t cover the target or reach the target.

It was possible if he could mix something along the lines of one of the many types of plants or tree’s across imuchakk, that could be milked for their saps with something to prevent it setting so quickly that something along those lines packed with a charge could allow him to spread such a thing over an area that should allow him to definitively stop anyone from escaping under its gaze or at least what the target was it would be problematic if his own creation affected him.

His line of design came to working with these saps, which meant a number of times that he went out onto the ice to collect samples for plants or tree’s the best way he found was to take a sample or section of the tree after which he would tap the tree for its sap, if he tapped the tree’s there and then returned with sap, the majority of the time if not certainly it had already set by time he had worked his way as sneakily as he could back to his store.

Each sample he would work with he would mix a number of substances with the sap’s, the aim to at least while they were moist to allow him to reheat them to be able to return them close to their natural form, this way it would allow him to have some sort of block that in theory he may be able to pack with a charge to spread such a creation.

It would take him days of tireless work and sleepless nights as he worked through daylight and camplight to finally design a paste that would work, it was a large mixture of any of the natural substances that covered this land, Saps of the Plants, Liquids of the Digestive Organs of the Animals and Dust of the Fungi’s, though it seemed to set well enough and still be malleable when heated it began to become more flowing and liquid like, this would have to do though he would have to rapidly heat it rather than a slow heat.

The next stage was of course what he would use to rapidly heat and spread the payload, this would have to be somewhat similar to what he used in his other more fiery arrow head designs, though designing such things had taken their toll on him over him, his hands were scared much like the rest of him, though they weren’t marks of shame to him, but marks of respect and marks of honour, marks that allowed him to remember things that made such a physical mark on him, it was something unique that only one thing had left behind, this allowed him to maybe treat himself as a book a story, though that was something he kept to himself, it wasn’t like he had people lining up to listen to an old man rabble on about their life history and he hadn’t actively travelled with someone he could share it with for a long time, he wouldn’t have even considered telling his history and story to Tai or any other being with intelligence he met along the way.

He considered things alongside his Flash Flare and his Thermos, the flash flare’s heat production was amazing but the light show it put off would be quite far a waste, whereas Thermos had great ability of spreading itself but the heat could well end up burning the sap thus could destroy it or burn much of it off before it could be put to use, to develop a powder Vodarara would work with idea’s relating around these two mixing different substances trying to avoid there being a long term flame but an initial detonation, of course another matter would be how to fuse it, he couldn’t afford it to explode in his face so it would have to be set off either by impact or by a burn of course the way the substance reacted was the all-important feature if it needed heat itself or would trigger between say water and lime making contact and fizzling.

This like the designing of the sap would take a similar length of time, this would include time to go hunting to collect some food as well as gathering from plants and sleeping to recover from the time he had spent constantly awake, it was important to rest when you could, in the coldest times of Imuchakk, he would hibernate of sorts spending long periods of time sleeping through the cold, only waking to relieve himself or have something to drink or eat.

Though with the final design of powdered rock with water, the two would need to be separated as well as a secondary chamber from that would have to be made for what it would melt through to trigger the explosion, the explosive itself was a green powder a mixture of substances from animal guts and fungi blended and bound together seemed to explode quite well with quick dying flames.

Though he had still much work to do.

Before he could get around to testing it Vodarara had to finish his design process, you could say the arrow shaft and head that would carry the payload would have to be specially designed for the process, though his idea’s more revolved around his ideas that had allowed him to create explosive orbs or gas filled orbs that could be used to disrupt targets at close range, now the design would be somewhat different but in the past he had at least worked with packing things with methods to detonate them be it shells or to make them expel something in to the air.

Vodarara would start work on the arrows shaft specifically this is what would dictate how the coating itself was held, due to how the sudden blast would thus be propelling it should it be set maybe in a hide bag or a ceramic jar or pot to hold it which would then tear open or fragment, he had many options which would depend on how he could get the reaction to occur to trigger it.

Of course the reactants had to be separated and storage wise, he needed enough space for a large spread thus it would have to be integrated with the shaft, there was risk if he split the shaft in half and loaded it like that the sides would be weakened which may mean he would destroy the arrow after one use, so Vodarara worked on multiple prototypes along the lines of a design which would be separated along the sides and then fused back together after the inside had been chiselled out, the second design revolved around the careful drilling and grinding out of an inner tube this shaft was the thickest he had worked on using a thigh bone of a large creature to get the length needed.

These had to be created carefully as well as dried and treated to prevent them from being too brittle, though both would have the similarity that they had a fragile plate which would be put inside, Vodarara had sort of worked out that he would have to use something to separate them which he could then break, the lower section would have to contain the water and the upper the rock dust, though unlike his other arrows this arrow would have to be kept upright in the quiver, this would mean he couldn’t have a bladed tip in case it caused injury to the user.

Finally the design behind the payload, now the sap itself would have to be kept in a separate section to the final stage of the reactants but close enough to each other to then be forced out when triggered, a piece of cloth would be affixed over the top of shaft, so the heat would need to penetrate through it to set it off, the head itself would be two bone bowls within each other made from a single piece of, the outer ring would go down the shaft whereas the inner would need to connect onto the tip of the shaft, though it would be meticulous work, Vodarara needed to specialise it for what it was, though its production would take a long time with the level of work made for the head itself grinding down the outer bowl to have as much room inside as possible but also thin enough so it could be rended apart by a detonation.

The bowls being attached to each other by bone should at least aid its strength and the time before it would decay or break, being stronger than affixing it with pastes, the inner section was packed with the final stage for the detonation the fine powder itself.

These would be affixed to shaft used a paste to glue the connections together this would be the weakest part of the arrow, though in terms of weight, most of it would be at the front though that would most likely be optimal if you wanted to shower it onto people you would need it anyway facing downwards, so it was just arcing the shot correctly, the Feathers would help it somewhat balance in the air but those would take time modifying it to balance to what you needed to try to hold it as best as possible in the sky.

The final phase was testing, though it wasn’t something he wanted to show off in the open it would be a shame for anything to take note of any of his new designs before he had a chance to use it, creatures watch and observe what they see and it would be a pain if it didn’t at least provide some surprise, though Vodarara could do this specifically with his designs that were not lethal or at least possible to be lethal as it was an immobilizer he could test it here.

Though the Webbing itself would go through a number of adjustments after that to reach it final form, that Vodarara was happy with its effectiveness was rather uncanny, the radius that it could cover was significant and the fact it set so fast though it did break down rather quickly afterwards especially if something was actively trying to free themselves, it led to a few interesting events when trialling it in a contained area as it involved him becoming rather stuck in place and a significant amount of cleaning to remove the paste that filled the room, the explosion itself wasn’t too loud though obviously it made a sound it wasn’t a silent arrow like his more normal arrows, though they still make a small sound just far less significant around the sounds of the land.

With his final designs complete, it could be say that a Legacy of Teachings and Designs could be left behind, to store these he would write them in a number of cave paints to show how to develop and design such a thing, he would not give these away but would more set a method of testing to see if anyone could actually reach such a thing, it wasn’t the type of thing that would be good if abused at least in his mind, it must be used selectively and mass production and use would be dangerous.

These designs stored within Bone cases, though the time to bury and scatter them was yet to come, would be a method of trail and test for those whom would want such a life as this………
