The moon, something Noah always found interesting. How could such an object have more effect on this world than the moon and the sun. The sun gives life providing light and heat to the world while the moon’s gravitational force is the ebb and flow of the waters of the world. He moon tonight was rather large, almost a full moon but not quite there just yet. Noah was bathing in its white light though as he walked the streets of the bustling city. Tonight was just another night in the city, street vendors sat out on every curb with their carts, cooking exotic foods like kabobs and fried vegetables while merchants had some stalls set up with knickknacks and other objects for sale. Some of these vendors claimed that their objects were magical or came from regions of the world that humans dare not go, while others boasted of their products ability to shave years off one’s self, increase a sex drive, or even things as simple as grow hair. This was his home and while he was growing restless here it still was a site to behold. There was never a dull moment in the city of the Pharos that was for sure. Noah had been here his whole life, he had only traveled to other countries on a few occasions but never staying longer than a month or so there. His life here was far too busy for those kind of adventures even if he would love to go see the Jade Mountains of the Zou Empire, or the sapphire waters of Balbadd, heck he would even settle for the icy tundra of the Imuchakk’s. All these places sounded mysterious and interesting to him.

He had been working at the Black Pyramid for nearly half of his life now. His father had thrown him into its care the moment his mother died. He saw the gifts that the boy had for life magic and wished to use it to boost his own reputation while also keeping a watchful eye on Noah. His father did not trust the boy he could tell that. Noah had been developing a mix of emotions since his mother’s passing, not all of which were what most people would call sane. He kept these emotions and ideas to himself but had acted out on them on a few occasions, the latest of which was just a few hours ago. His father had called the boy to work a fifteen hour shift yet again, this was the ninth day in a row. At the end of his shift he was sore and tired having exhausted so much magoi throughout the day that he was ready to snap on whomever rubbed him the wrong way. The overseer of his division in the temple had come to the area that Noah was in and had explained to the boy that he would have another six days of work before receiving an off day. Noah tried to plead with him in a rational manner but that was not something the men of this order seemed capable of doing or understanding, the overseer brushed off his requested and simple walked away. Noah being enraged casted his magic without even thinking about it causing a powerful life spell to erupt from him, one that he was not even aware that he knew how to do. In a flash a flurry of beautiful light pink flowers began to flutter in the room. At first they fell gracefully and peaceful causing a serine type feeling. Noah’s power rippled through him and the room, he could see and hear everything but it was almost as if his body was acting on its own and to be honest he did not care one bit. The overseer looked around in bewilderment and awe unfortunately for him this spell was not as friendly as it looked. Noah’s hazel eyes grew a darker green and the staff’s green emerald on it exploded with life energy signaling the petals to become their true selves. Almost as if a strong wind picked them up the petals began to spin around the room at an extreme speed, 20 meters per second. Noah was at the center of this spell causing an eye of the storm right around him, those that were not him in this area unfortunately had to deal with the petals now. They would slice, dice, sever, and impale any living or non living thing around. A small wicked smile crossed Noah’s face as a small amount of black rukh formed around him mixing with his white rukh. He could hear the man’s screams but they almost sounded like a muffled yell, this was not true but only was like this due to Noah’s selective hearing. His screams and wales would most likely be heard all over the pyramid but at the moment Noah had little care on what was happening.

As the petals rested on the ground, now blood soaked, Noah was coming back to his senses. His eyes reverted back to their normal hazel color, still with minor hints of green, his hearing becoming fully aware, and his body became his own again. The black rukh that was fluttering around him was no more and seemed to have parted from him. His body became slightly more relaxed from what it just was and his staff fell to the ground. He surveyed the damage that his little bout of anger and other emotions had caused. It was interesting and rather bloody if he said so himself. The walls had large cuts running across their jet black tiles, these cuts ranged in sizes from 1 cm to nearly a whole meter long the average being about 2/3 the length of a meter. While the interior walls were still intact the walls that would be resting on the outside now had several holes which allowed sun light to peak through. The light reveled more of the damage to Noah as his gaze followed the beams across the floor. He saw bits of rocks, most likely from the walls, as well as broken pottery, papers sliced into confetti, shattered glass, and even some red liquid covered the floor. Red liquid? Noah was confused for a moment about what the red liquid was until he saw a mass of red stained robes laying on the ground near the door. He had almost forgot that he had attacked his overseer, a small chuckle was let out by the boy. He walked over to the man to examine the damage that he had done to the fat man. He poked him with the staff expecting a groan or a slight stir from the body but the man did nothing. Odd. He poked harder this time throwing a few kicks in as well. Nothing happened, the body just laid there. Noah placed his staff firmly on the ground while holding tight, this was to give him a grip and stabilize him. With all his might he tried to push the man over. The first attempt was unsuccessful, the man just rolled back over onto his stomach. The second time he was able to get him on his side and saw where all the blood was coming from. It seemed that he had sliced the man’s jugular vein with his attack killing the man. His eyes opened wide, this was the first time he had actually killed a person. The rush and joy that he had a mere moment ago was washed away and replaced with fear and extreme heart palpitations. He had killed not only a man, not only his boss, and not only a member of the temple, but a man from his own country if he was found out to be the culprit his punishment would most likely be expulsion from the country if not death.

He removed his foot that was propping up the man and darted back towards the wall with the holes in it. He stood there staring for a moment. He knew that it would only be a matter of time before somebody came up to see what had happened, there had been a loud scream one moment and the next none. They would come and arrest Noah. They would take his staff and no longer allow him to be the mage that he always wished to become. He had to flee. The beams of light from the walls gave him an idea, he might be able to escape if he was quick and able to come up with a good ability quickly and on the spot. He spun around to face the wall placing his hand on it to try to get a feel for where the weakest point was. After about five or six seconds of examining he took a few steps back, five to be exact. He took in a deep breath, closed his eyes, and held his staff out facing the wall. His magic had hardly none if any directly offensive attacks and abilities but he needed one pronto. As his staff pointed at the wall and with his eyes closed he began to gather the rukh around him. He could feel it rushing through him and around him. The magic vibrated within the staff. A small veil of green energy could be seen around Noah if one was able to detect rukh, this was due to him turning the white rukh into nature based causing them to take on a greenish hue of a color. The aura would wrap around him and his staff. When he opened his eyes it could be seen that his hazel color was once again replaced with a more greenish color, the same color that his staff’s gem now mimicked. The spell was just coming to him naturally something that was pretty uncommon for mages even for ones with as much potential as Noah. His staff began to crack and making popping noises, which at first worried Noah until he could tell with the rukh what was actually going on. From the staff a splitter of wood popped off and in an instant following that a massive wooded dragon erupted from the staff, knocking Noah back a few inches actually causing him to bump into the lump of a dead man behind him. This did not break his concentration though. The dragon would blast out heading right for the wall. The black stones of the pyramid would rip apart like butter on a hot day with a massive blasting noise. As this happened Noah was already running towards the hole, he had no time to spare somebody would be barging into that room any moment now. As his foot left the safety of the solid ground his magic took action once again. His body became as light as air as the gravity magic wrapped around him allowing him to soar through the air gracefully. His dragon had gone ahead and shot off into the distance dissolving into nothing but the simple splitter of wood that it was originally. A smile crossed Noah’s face as he flew across the desert and towards the town. He had taken his life into his own hands and for the time being it was freeing, he never felt so grand. He hoped that the guards would not be able to detect who had committed the crime but if they did he would just have to take matters into his own hand once again. The petals at the scene of the crime would have already withered away shortly after he had left the pyramid leaving no trace of him there.

The distance from the pyramid to his home was not too long and the ability to fly above all the obstacles in his way made it extremely quick. His home was nothing spectacular nor was it rather large. It was just a small apartment that overlooked one of the busier markets of the town. The roof had a trap door like entrance that allowed him to come and go as he pleased by flight by also was an excellent place to sunbathe and avoid those that he did not want to particularly want to speak to, mainly his father. He flew over the market noticing many people shuffling between the stalls, each holding similar objects and goods but at the same time all slightly different. The moon had started to rise while the sun was beginning to set. The orange and red light made the town look majestic, a great nation born in the desert and thriving as one of the world’s most powerful and influential places. The ruler was fair to his subjects but had little care for those that were from the other nations. Talks of war was upon them but for now they were at a relative peace. Noah was approaching his home now, good thing because he was becoming slightly tired after using so much magic in a short period of time. He was rather proud of himself even if he had just committed a heinous act. The boy had never pulled off such powerful spells in succession but it felt good to do so, it made him feel accomplished as a mage, and now an actual threat. His father had looked down on such barbaric use of magic and only used it for the Pyramid so Noah had never really had the chance to actually test out spells that would harm others rather than heal or just help others. He landed on his roof and dispelled the magic that was being used causing him to have a burden lifted from his back. He let out a sigh and slowly walked over to the trap door. He was exhausted and needed to eat something or he would collapse here and now. The door was heavier than usual probably due to Noah being rather weak from using so much magic. As he lifted the door he felt his muscles trembling slightly from the sheer weight. He entered the dark stairwell to his home using his staff to support his weight with each step. The stairs were not very long but in the dark they were dangerous especially since he was so tired and weak, he could have easily slipped and fell down them breaking something. His staff gave off a dim light so that he could see where he was going but even that minor action of magic would be slightly tiring on the boy. A small wooden door sat at the bottom of the stairs. He pushed the door but to his luck it was locked, a habit that he had gotten into after a few little street rats (orphan children) had broken into his home and those of his neighbors a few weeks ago. He was rather annoyed at himself for doing such a thing but had to remind himself that this was his own fault along with that of those people that disrespected other’s homes. For the moment he was too tired to do anything about it though. He slammed his fist on the door with the rest of his remaining strength causing a loud thud sound and a rather stinging sensation to run over his hand and arm. He quickly retracted it waving it in the air to try to get the pain to somehow be flung away by his action. Disappointed that his strength was not enough to break through solid wood he plopped onto the stair behind him in a mood. He was getting tired and could barely keep his eyes open at the moment. His staff fell from his hands making an echo in the dark corridor. The small bit of sunlight was fading away from the door above him. Soon he would be in absolute darkness. Darkness something he never was too afraid of but honestly was always curious about. He often wondered how his life would be different if he had specialized in light based magic rather than life. The power to bend and create light was an art. It was probably the most beautiful magic, or at least had the potential to be such. Life magic was gorgeous as well but was not able to do things that the others could. It was limited in direct offensive attacks as well as anything defensive, but that was most magic.

As he sat there breathing in deeply the warm musky air started to lull him into a peaceful state, his eyes closed and he slowly drifted to sleep. His sleep was not very restful being in an uncomfortable position and still extremely hungry but it was enough to stir a dream or two. His dream was nothing important and only caused his hunger to grow. As the rays of the sun left the small stairwell his eyes fluttered open slowly. He had been out maybe an hour but most likely a bit less than that when he awoke his back was stiff and his stomach was now rumbling like a stamped of elephants. He needed to get into his home one way or another. He grabbed his staff and examined the door once more. IT was just simple wood, something that he knew well with his life magic. Could it not be said that he could take away life just as easy as he created it? In theory it made sense but would it come to fruition in reality? He closed his eyes and let his rukh flow through the wood and around him, he remembered his teachings about plant life and the cells that make them up, the same cells that make up all living creatures. If he could just kill off those cells then the wood would be no more right? His eyes opened, they were fully green just like before when he was channeling his magic. The ruhk around him started to increase but their color changed as well. He focused on an image, and image of the cells dying, being consumed by nothingness. From his staff a black fog started to roll throughout the small room making it darker than before. The door started to be eaten by the fog slowly but surely it was withering away until Noah’s hand rested on nothing at all. He had done it! The fog quickly reverted back into his staff and his rukh went back to the white color.

He stumbled into the apartment weaker than ever before now. His hand trembled slightly. He was exhausted. He walked into the kitchen grabbed a loaf of bread and quickly scarfed it down. Still his body craved more food. His home was rather empty in the food department but the vendors outside would have loads of different food that he could eat and all relatively cheap. He walked back into the tiny living room style area where he had left his staff. As he looked around in the darkness a sudden rush of sadness and depression ran over him, this was not an unnatural occurrence due to his bipolar order. His home was so small and rather run down. He was not paid well at all working for that damn Pyramid. His father was a jerk and he was only be suppressed from his true potential. Noah knew that he was destined for greater power and today was proof on that. The boy had performed three new spells all upper tiers and all his own ideas. He was thrilled at that fact but the idea of living here the rest of his life made him rather annoyed and angry. Perhaps it was time for him to take some of these matters into his own hands. Noah grabbed his staff and proceeded to walk towards the door that would lead to the street down below. As he walked past the door that he had destroyed he realized that he had just made an easy way for the street rats to break into his home! He held out his staff and almost without even thinking about it cast a spell that caused wood to reform right then and there into a door similar to the one he had just destroyed.

His skills had indeed improved greatly if he could do such feats like that without thinking. The door rested against the frame perfectly and even had a lock just like the one before though this time he made sure he would be able to open it from the other side in case he ever came back in from the roof. As he stood there admiring his work he noticed the small dots of red coating the bottom of his white robes, the blood from the overseer most likely. He would need to get rid of that before going out or even going back to that pyramid, any body that saw it might be able to put two and two together which was not something he was trying to do. He quickly ran over to his room and lit a candle so that he could see what he was doing in there. He stripped off the white silk robe of the workers of the Pyramid and tossed it to the ground. He stood in the hot, dry night air in nothing but his boxers enjoying the cool breeze that was occurring due to him no longer having clothes on. He sat on the bed for a moment and fell back down into the soft blankets taking a moment to just enjoy himself. His stomach still churned for food but at the moment his back and legs were loving him. Today had been a long day. After a few moments of sitting in the candle lit room he pulled himself up to a seated position. He stared at the mirror that was on top of his dresser looking at his own reflection.

What he saw was a boy, a tired boy who had killed a man in anger today. What did that say about his character? He felt no remorse other than the fear of being caught and even that did not worry him too much. He could easily sneak away tonight if he dared to but some part of him wanted to stick around and see what would be come of this whole ordeal. Maybe his own father would be given the task to handle to boy. His new spell would make any life spell that his father dared use against him futile and a waste of energy while at the same time it would nearly kill anything it touched that lived. His other spell could rip to shreds anything it touched and the third new spell he mastered would be so fast and powerful with its sheer blunt force plus the spikes that it could crush bones with little ease. In one day Noah had gone from being a simple mage at the Black Pyramid to somewhat of a make shift warrior. He finally stood up from the bed and opened up a drawer filled with tunics. He slipped on a light blue one with gold trimming. In another drawer he pulled out a pair of white silk long shorts and put those on tying them with a gold braided belt.

He blew out the candle in the room and walked out back into the living room area where his staff sat. The sound from the city below could be heard in this room as could the smells from the food below be smelt. His stomach once again made it known to him that it was indeed starving and craved food pronto. He grabbed his staff and made way to his front door. As he left his home he blew out all the candles and locked the door. As he stepped out onto the street he took note of the large white moon that hung above his head and filled the streets with its pale light. And now we are back to where our story had first started with Noah roaming the streets carefree bathing in the moonlight, that dramatic and eventful day was behind him and only a journey of power was before him. He strolled causally between the vendors admiring all the different food they had to offer. He had only brought a little huang with him so he had to be savvy with how he spent it. He was most likely going to buy some lamb kabobs since those were his favorite and relatively cheap to buy, unfortunate for him the vendor he liked to buy them from was a little bit of a walk away, roughly a 30-40 min one at that. He would normally have flown over the crowd like most the magicians but he was already tired and feared that he might fall to the ground making a fool of himself. He would walk with the crowd for now but if they got too pushy he could always just float up for a little bit and enjoy the night sky. His stomach increased in volume with each passing moment, he feared he would not make it to the kabob vendor that he so much wanted to buy from. He stopped and pushed his way to the side were there was a vendor that was selling some kind of sandwich looking thing. He went ahead and bought one filled with roasted chicken and some herbs topped with a mix of different spices all wrapped up in a flatbread. The sandwich was yummy but not as tasty of a meal as he was hoping for but it did the trick, his stomach rumbles subsided for the time being and he was satisfied though not filled. He started to wonder between buildings until he found himself on the outskirts near the slums area, not a place many would dare to venture late at night. This is the home of the street rats that he disliked, not because they were orphans or poor but due to the fact that they stole from people that had not much more than they did. The slums was also the home to many brothels, thieves, murders, and turn cloaks from other countries. Noah could be one of them now that he had killed an overseer of the Black Pyramid, not many of these people could boast about killing a man with such a high title, some might even consider Noah a hero among them but most would see him as a silver spoon boy that was the son of one of the top officials in the country.

As he walked among these men he held his staff tight for fear that some might have attacked him, something that was not too uncommon in these areas. AS he walked passed the homes small fires were dotted in the streets where multiple men and some woman stood huddled to keep warm. Their faces were covered in dirt, clothes were tattered, and sandels broken. These were the people that had it the worse here in this nation. Most of their children would starve to death in the first few years if they were not taken by sicknesses or just killed by their own parents due to the drain they were on their limited incomes. Most the people here worked physical labor style jobs if they worked at all. Many of these men would often turn to thievery and still caravans that would cross the desert in the dead of night, some joined the muraders, or others would try their luck in the slave trade going down to the dark continent. Noah had heard all  the tales about these people from his mother and father. His mother had often came here to help these people while his father would scold her for such actions. Noah had come with her a few times, the last time they did his father found out and slapped his mother and yelled at her for putting his only son’s life in the hands of such down trotted people.  As Noah walked passed them some whispered some stared and some just ignored the boy. He had no idea why he was here but he just kept on walking without fear.

It was not too long that he was in this area that he heard the scream of a woman coming from the area that was closest to the desert. He gripped his staff tightly and ran off in that direction hoping that he would not be too late in helping whomever was in danger. He might have killed a man today but that did not make him the tye of person that would let innocent people just be raped and killed. With each footstep the sound became clearer and clearer, it was a young woman from the sound of her voice, he knew not what was wrong but would stop it before it harmed her too much. As he took  one last turn around a home in serious need of repair he saw the lone woman surrounded by a group of about 4 men each with small daggers. Three held the woman down while the fourth was lurching over her it looked like he was about to rape the woman. Without even thinking once more Noah’s aura began to build up around him as he charged the men. Ruhk could be seen floating around him taking on a deep purple color. “Leave that woman alone!” Before the men even had a chance to turn around and see who was charging them Noah slammed his staff onto the ground sending a shockwave of magical energy beneath them all. Within a second the earth started to shake violently and dozens of roots erupted from the ground striking at each of them men, two were thrown at least 50 meters into the air, one was knocked to the ground and was beaten over and over by a pair of roots while the third was wrapped tightly around his limbs. Noah approached that man with fury in his eyes. “You like to rape woman? You want to pick on the helpless? You are the reason that this race is falling to the wayside! I wonder how you will rape anyone ever again without that certain limb attached to your body?” Noah waved his hand and a root instantly shot right at the man’s groin region. The scream he let out could be heard all throughout the desert that night. As the roots subsided each of the four men laid there bloody and bruised with broken bones and in one case a missing chuck on their body. The woman looked wide eyed and bewildered at Noah. He gave her a soft smile and bent down offering her his hand. “It is okay, I will not let any harm come to you.” She took his hand, her body still trembling with fear. He hosted her up, as he did so he noticed a bit of blood running down her arm. These men must have sliced her with a dagger. He touched the wound and channeled his magical energy once more causing the rhuk inside the woman to begin to repair the wound. The scar slowly healed and the blood dried up. “Come on let me take you home where it is safe.” The woman nodded and led Noah to her home, all the while he tried to keep himself stable. He had wasted a lot of magic in those two spells and was back down to an empty stomach. AS the two entered her makeshift home Noah collapsed right then and there. Thankfully the woman was able to drag him onto the bed and allowed him to rest there that night, her way of saying thank you after he saved her from a night of forced sex and possibly death.

Noah would rise up the next day around two maybe three oclock in the afternoon. When he woke he saw the woman asleep there on the ground. She had given him the bed that night, a kind gesture but one not needed. Without stirring her Noah reached for his staff and tip toed out of the building heading back towards his home. As he passed the rubble of his attack a faint smile crossed his face. He was rather proud of his work only bigger and better things awaited the boy in the future. MAybe he would leave Heliopaht and travel the world, or maybe he would become strong enough to even rival the Pharaoh, he knew his father was not too far from his grasp.
