After meeting with Octavius, Lagi decided to get another assignment under his belt. The Reim empire needed more Leverage if they were going to fight back against the kou empire. So for Now, Lagi decided to travel with El Drago in order to gain that leverage they needed another hostage. “ El drago, we got ourselves a bit of a pickup order. Her name is Lady Fiona, she also has two kids at her side. They would be a valuable hostage and maybe Kou would think twice to do anything hasty if we have them at our possession. “ El drago made a booming grunt as they flew over to the point of intercepting Lady Fiona and the guards. “ A fine tactic, it would definitely get someone’s attention if a few of the Kou nobles were at our disposal. “ Lagi simply smiled as he nodded, he was glad that El drago agreed with him. “ We are going to make this pretty quick, the information given to me by the spies suggests that she and her children are heading off to a private dock outside of Reim in order to return to the Kou empire. We have to make sure that we stop the carriage that’s containing those Kou nobles.” Lagi already knew what to expect from these Kou empire guards, he wondered I the security is going to be subpar or extra tight. Either way, he wasn’t going to make it easy for them if they intended to take Lagi and El Drago on.

After a bit of flying Lagi and El drago managed to arrive at the intercepting point. El Drago hovered 30 meter into the air as he looked around with Lagi and awaited the arrival of the escort carriage. “They should be here any moment now; I bet that they weren’t even expecting to run into anyone considering their head start.” They would have got away with it too, even with the manta being used, but El drago was wickedly strong. When a dragon is flying at 25 m/s you could be sure that there is no way that anyone would be able to take it lightly, as well as expect to get away from that dragon easily. It was a waiting game for a short period of time but the carriage finally showed up, El drago noticed that they were up ahead; the Kou guards were out in front to defend against any opposition.

“El Drago, why don’t you go say hi?” El Drago made a small grunt as he used Full Paralyze towards the group of guards and the carriage containing Lady Fionia and her children. It was a one meter lightning cube that shot out towards them at 25 m/s, it then crashed into the area covering a 25 meter radius at 25 m/s. This technique wasn’t a particularly lethal move, it was a strategy that held no bounds when it came to completely stopping an opponent dead in their tracks. After this was done El drago landed near the carriage and the fallen guards. The Kou guards were caught by surprise, they wasn’t aware that the Reim empire caught on to the alleged escape attempt that they planned in order to safeguard their nobles. Lady Fiona and her children were also most likely paralyzed inside of the carriage, un-moving and not knowing what was going about. “ And, I think it’s about time that you brought your foot down.

El Dragon proceeded to stop on each of the Kou guards as they were paralyzed with his A rank strength, The guards were overwhelmed with the basic strength that El dragon was showing. They couldn’t scream or react to it; the only thing that came to them was their demise after every earthshattering stomp. Beneath the mighty feet of El drago, every single Kou guard was out of the game when it happened. Lagi was particularly happy that El drago was a lighting dragon. Afterwards, Lagi would dismount and sit in the carriage. “ Yo!” The King of reim would give a friendly wave to the paralyzed Lady Fionia and her children. “This going to be a bumpy ride for you, but I’ll be here to keep you guys company. With that being said, El drago picked up the carriage with his hands and safely cradled it. El drago would then proceed to fly back at the palace at 25 m/s. “I’m sorry Lady Fiona, but you are going to have to be extending your stay at Reim for quite some time. You even get to fly coach, and nothing bad is going to happen to you.”

Roark arched a brow when Lagi re-entered the room, shaking his head with a snort.

“Well, you got the job done… but could you have been a bit less… flashy, son? Miss Fiona’s children are tickled pink, but their mother is claiming she almost fainted out of fear. She is not fond of heights.”

Roark chuckles and then gave Lagi a curious look.

“You have not mentioned your… meeting. What do you think of the leader of the other branch of the rebellion?”

He did not mention Octavius’ name out loud, this was still rather sensitive information that he did not want most people having until the red-haired General had revealed himself.

Well it does get the job done; we could risk them trying to resist and injure themselves in the process. The purpose of the assignment is to make sure that no harm befalls them, that’s easy to carry out as long as thus said people remain still for the majority of the time. I mean, they would have to get with the times eventually. Flying is about to be the new way to travel.” Lagi would share a laugh with his father and cuts it off short when Roark mentioned his meeting with Octavius.

“Well, I was definitely surprised. I wasn’t expecting to encounter such a man like that again in this lifetime, given the fact of all the supporting rumors have assumed. He questioned what happened that proved as the final decision maker of me being on the throne, as well as the fight between kou within the throne room and the demise of the emperor. So I guess you could say that was something, we also talked about the Idea that I had for the unity corps. That’s about as far as it got when it came to business. How long have you known?“

Roark conceded the point before responding to Lagi’s question.

“Longer than you, that is all you need to know, son. It was sensitive information that we could not risk having leak. You have a bad habit of unintentionally leaking information. He is a strong ally to have in your corner. But he is also your greatest threat to keeping your throne. He is the hero of Reim, the most trusted council of the late Emperor and will always have more respect and influence in this country than you. Remember that, Lagi. If he wants to, he can dethrone you with only a nod. Make sure he stays as your ally, son.”

His words were stern, but true, a reminder of just how Reim felt about Octavius. He was the one man that, if he demanded Lagi’s head, his son would be without a skull within hours. It worried him, but the allies were necessary.

I understand father, I’ll make sure that I’ll keep that in mind. Right now, Kou is one of the important obstacles in our way that is impeding Reim’s growth. If that an would agree with me on a anything, it’s that we should take care of the more immediate matters before trailing off to the other matters that concerns this country. “ Lagi was sure to remember that important detail, he figured that he would have to stay on Octavius’s good side. “ One by one, I have been trying to break from these bad habits, but I don’t fault you for not telling me. “

Roark nodded at Lagi.

“Good. Besides, even as a ruler of a country, there will always be secrets kept from you, for various reasons. Whether that be for your safety, or the safety of the country. He is a good man and the best hope we have for saving this country. Now get some rest, it seems things are heating up and both branches of the rebellion of pulling people as close to the capitol as we can to prepare. There has been word of magic transfer circles and more troops than could be coming over by boat. So rest and prepare. I think war may be upon our doorstep soon.”

This war might seem like something that we can’t avoid, but we are far from helpless. We are quickly growing our forces; the people are also starting to build their trust in me. I did what I said I was going to do; they don’t have a king that sits around on the throne without pulling his own weight as well. Right now, the thing that we need to do the most is to stop their advances with our own tactics.

Lagi would then go into a few things that could be done. “The first thing we need to do is to locate these magic circles and alternate the pattern of the magic spectrum. If we can get out magician to either do something to the magic seals in order for them to either cause a bounce back in a far away place like in the middle of the sea, that could leave the solders to drown immediately due to the heavy armor and the horses and whatnot. If we can’t manage that, we could cause a chain reaction whatever that’s transported using those magic circles would explode once they arrive, it would be a secret attack that destroys the seal and could critically injure or kill the transported. Both of these methods could be done without being too obvious about messing with the seal, giving the magicians a false sense of security.

Lagi would then go into the current solutions he had with the boats. “ We could start taming aquatic animals as some kind of navy force. They could be tamed to set up a defensive perimeter and attack incoming ships, sinking them. It would be unexpected and the drowning soldiers could be picked off in the water. If we are capable of these things, we could even the playing field.

Roark listened to his son before snorting and shaking his head.

“The magic circles Kou uses… they aren’t normal. Our magicians are scared to touch them, they are born of corpses and death. All we can do is take out the ones controlling them. But locating them is a problem all on its own. They do not need a massive area to do this in and considering we haven’t stumbled across them yet, we do not know where to begin looking. No, that will have to wait. I have been speaking with Adamus and he mentioned we may soon be receiving magical reinforcements. When we do, let mage deal with mage. We will be the sword against sword.”

At the mention of taming aquatic animals, Roark let out a loud laugh, clapping Lagi on the shoulder.

“You dream big, boy… too big sometimes, but big. We cannot hope to throw fish at the ships and make them stink so bad they sink. And we do not have enough tamers to handle the creatures large enough to deal damage to those ships. You and I are the only ones with the experience necessary to tame the creatures of the deep that linger in the ocean, son. You know this. Those are creatures born and bred in darkness and pressure. They are not like the animals we have. To take out ships, we would need a Kraken… or a Rampaging Unicorn. Those creatures are even harder to tame than your El Drago, Lagi. Drago has been around man for enough centuries to be reasoned with. You did not beat him into submission like a true El Nagi, you made a pact with him. What do you have to offer to a Kraken, to lure it into an agreement?”

He would wait for Lagi to answer, interested to see how his son intended to be able to tame something powerful enough to take out ships.

My pact with El drago stops me from using traditional means in order to tame such a creature, I am no longer permitted to use force in such an aggressive nature.  However, it’s because of that handicap that I’ve been using the drugs, the same ones that we used to use a while back in the food. We need a relatively high dosage, enough to make a beast of legend  docile enough to be tamed.  Water conducts electricity, we could paralyze the thing long enough in order to toss a majority of the drug into its mouth, and then somehow come to an understanding with the beast. Even if it’s just a simple command, even if control is temporary,  we just needs its power in order to take out the Kou ships. It seems farfetched, I know.  My other idea was to bait such an aquatic beast over to the area with its favorite food, luring it to the kou ships.  It might seem barbaric, taming the little ones in order to bait the big one over to the kou ship, but we all have to make sacrifices at this point if we are going to succeed.  If that’s the case we could feed those animals a relatively high dosage of the drug that could affect the sea beast we are aiming for. “

Lagi made a deep sigh.” Honestly father, I don’t know what I can do or how I can do it. But I will do whatever I can for the sake of our country, dreaming big would always remain a dream if there is no action to follow it. I don’t have dreams, I have aspirations.
