Lagi left El drago behind as he was going through the motions of the checkpoint with the other escorts. It was a mission for him and he had to be somewhat discreet about the way he handled thing. There is nothing discreet about a 10 meter lightning dragon. Afterwards, Lagi gathered the cargo into a caravan and some people rebel fighters to disguise themselves and accompany him as he helped distribute the weapons. The challenge at hand was the checkpoints. “ I’ll also keep myself disguised, it would put the kou guards on high alert if the king himself was walking around. No need to continue to be mysterious. Lagi kept a cloak around himself as he led the way of the caravan containing the weapons and rebel members posing as traders. Lagi wanted to deliver these weapons as soon as possible so he was going for it when it came to the checkpoints. That was the plan however; he wanted to be as discreet as possible. “I feel like I have just the spell for something like that. “ Lagi would say to himself as he continued to walk with his head down, while leading the way.

Eventually, Lagi and the rebels made their way to the first checkpoint. Lagi was immediately stopped since he took the lead. There was bandages around lagi’s face and he was wearing some nomad like clothing. “ Where are you headed? If you want to get by, we would have to inspect the cargo. “ Lagi would try his best to play it cool as he tried to manipulate his voice to sound different. “ Yes, I have my clearance papers right here. Lagi would say simply as he reached into his sash casually while revealing his angelic brace and shutting his eyes. The rebel members knew to keep their heads down and attack once they heard the bang. After revealing the angelic brace, Lagi would use Hamon Light Bang, along with a combination of his inaudible orb to lower absorb the sound of the scuffle around him when the rebels attacked and dismantled the blinded guards He made sure that he stayed within the range of the orb in order to capture most of the sound and the screams of pain that the guards had before being defeated. “ That’s one checkpoint…”

Lagi would look over to the defeated and unconscious Kou soldiers and look back at the rebel members. “ I’m glad that you made this into a clean job. This turned out rather violent, but this beats making you guys go around log shortcuts for the sake of safety. I prefer a more direct method personally. “One of the members would speak up with a rewarding smile. “ It’s safe to say that I don’t dislike that side of you my king. It’s much better if you are able to cut the nonsense and save us a lot of time. “ Lagi nodded as he put his hood back down and started to move bodies of the neutralized kou members. They needed to be out of sight and out o the way in order to avoid any kind of suspicion that the area was breached. Once those bodies were properly disposed of in a way that wouldn’t hinder the mission, Lagi and the rebel leaders would continue on to the second checkpoint. “ Hmm…. I think ill take care of this one by myself. “

Lagi would crack his muscles as he used Bulk up strength and bulk up speed while maintaining his inaudible orb. Lagi would increase the speed of his legs and his right arm to 20 m/s but he continued to walk normal as if he wasn’t under the buff. As soon as they reached the second checkpoint, it was the same procedure as before. However. This man was given an immediate punch to the stomach at b rank strength. The guards would try to unsheathe their swords, but lagi would use his superior speed to smash away at their necks and heads, while not giving off a sound of his punching, the bone shattering, and their demise. When all was said and done, Lagi would make a small wave to the caravan to continue on as the man that Lagi spoke to before whistled. “Remind me to never get on your bad side, that’s come crazy strength that you have there “ Lagi simply smiled as he continued to move forward, making sure that he continued to take point and lead the rebel members and this cargo to the right receiver in order to further support the upcoming rebellion. Lagi didn’t care much as to who it was in the first place, the only thing that mattered was they cared about the well-being of the county and his father trusted the, That was enough for him.

Sly slipped from behind a building, his face and hair covered by the cloth and shadow of a hooded cloak. The men approaching the drop point were carrying boxes and Sly was slightly surprised to see “King” Lagi among them, hauling with the rest and helping them out. Using his stealth and lightning fast reflexes, Sly appeared directly in front of Lagi and his helpers with a broad grin as he pushed the hood back just enough to show his smile, his red hair still covered.

“Time to play hide n’ seek, boys. Two of you head north, two south and his highness can follow me. To the north and south, there will be someone else to guide you to the correct places. Kingy here gets to be escorted by yours truly.”

Sly’s voice was somewhere between sarcastic and playful, ensuring that if he were overheard, very little could be determined. Gluing his eyes to Lagi, Sly paused for a moment in thought. It was interesting that Roark would send his own son on this mission. Apparently, he felt it was time for his son to learn about the other branch of the rebellion.

“Keep up, kid. I won’t go slow.”

With those words, Sly seemed to disappear into thin air, reappearing three blocks down with his foot tapping impatiently. It was still impossible to determine his race or even gender as only his smile was ever revealed and Sly led Lagi and his boxes through several twists and turns. King or no King, he would not risk being followed if Kou had gotten smart to them. After several loops in the path, they would arrive at a warehouse and Sly would suddenly appear behind Lagi, whispering a threat into his ear.

“If you betray this part of the rebellion, don’t think we will just send you back to daddy with a slap on the wrist, ne?”

Since the man wasn’t going slowly, Lagi sustained his bulk up speed and bulk up- strength in order to keep up with him and tug the caravan at efficient speed effortlessly. This mysterious person seemed legit in their choice of combat, but Lagi still didn’t know who they were. “…..” that last time that the Kou forces attacked, they hired a strike force in order to help with the subjection of the Reim Empire called the brotherhood of ash. “That movement, are you apart of the black hand?” It was another group of assassins that Lagi came across in his quest to get rid of all of the slave owners that were still inside the walls of reim, a special group of people you could hire if you have enough money for it. Lagi doubt that he was a part of the Black Hand, but he asked anyway. If anything he wouldn’t complain if it was the black hand.

When he man threatened that things would be dire if he ever betrayed this part of the rebellion, Lagi kept his cool. “If I wanted to betray you, why would even get out of bed to do all this work? Do you know the storm that happened a night ago? Do you know of the people that flew your new gear back to the capital just so you could get it in time? I even went through the checkpoints so you could receive this as soon as possible. Please, let’s skip the threats. " Lagi would then start to bring the gear into the warehouse.

Sly snorted as Lagi threw out questions about who he was and worked for, shaking his head.

“Well, you got your daddy’s trust enough for him to clue you in. I’m just trying to give you fair warning, don’t act stupid in here, alright? From one soldier to another, just friendly advice…”

With those words, Sly would open the door, revealing the interior of the seemingly abandoned warehouse. Inside, the place was bustling with a sea of red hair as rebels reported in and went out on missions, traded out armor and weaponry or took a few minutes to just chat. In the center of the room, a large table was set up with a map of Reim, figurines scatter across it to show troop movements and shipments. Around the table stood six people in very recognizable armor that was typically worn by the Fanalis Corp.

Once the door was closed, Sly threw back his hood to reveal his own mess of red hair, waving at a man bent over the table. When the man stood and turned to approach, his tall, broad stature and commanding presence would draw most eyes in the room. Octavius walked over with a friendly smile on his face as Sly spoke.

“King Lagi El Nagi, I present to you General Octavius, leader of the Fanalis Corp. Octavius, this is our little King-dude, Lagi. His dad sent him over.”

Octavius reached out to slap the back of Sly’s head with a pointed look before greeting Lagi with a booming voice.

“King Lagi! I have heard much about you from Roark and the people here! Though, I must say, I appreciate you wearing clothes for this adventure…”

Octavius laughed, the rest of the room joining him at his reference to Lagi’s Coliseum match against the famed Decimus. Octavius waved one of the Corp members over, a woman with flaming red hair that trailed past her hips in a tight braid, her golden armor framing her body in an attractive way. She took the boxes from Lagi with a wink, not even straining under the weight and tossed them to a Fanalis in the corner before moving over to begin sorting the items. Octavius waited with a broad smile to see how Lagi would react to seeing him. The General had been told many tales of the King attempting to regain enough Fanalis to rebuild the Corp and his many pleas for help in locating Octavius’ killer. So to the King, it would be like meeting a ghost.

When Lagi first walked in, his eyes widened. He never knew that there were so many fanalis all under one roof. It was definitely a sight to behold; it actually made him smile a little. Lagi was always fond of fanalis, he often looked up to Octavius when he was a kid. However, something a bit shocking would happen as soon as Lagi would enter the war room and General Octavius was introduced.” General Octavius?! Your alive! That’s, that’s amazing! I… was trying to find your killer all this time to bring closure to the fanalis and rebuild the corps. I… this is amazing…. It’s an honor. I was a fan of you since I was a kid!”

Lagi realized what he said and coughed a bit. He was starting to act like himself when he was younger, but he had to conduct himself more. “ But how… it…. Was it Azix? Did the Reim mages find you in time?” Lagi had so many questions, but he was a bit embarrassed when the whole naked incident was brought up. “ Well, you know what they say. It’s better to free yourself completely of all things weighing you down. In this case, it was my clothing. But you saw the fight? I hope you all enjoyed it.“ Lagi laughed with them, he had a sense of humor. However, Lagi would plush almost instantly with the interaction of the fanalis girl. She looked amazing; Lagi never understood his attraction to them. Maybe it’s because his first time was with a fanalis, it removed his innocence but increased his vulnerability to them. Their touch, their looks, the signature red hair that’s a reminder of their firey passion. When such a person of such strength and will could be capable of being gentle, it was an alluring trait that most wouldn’t understand. “Her smell, it reminds me of roses……” Lagi would say in a soft tone before realizing that he was penalty showing one of his weakness again. He would laugh embarrassingly once again while rubbing his head.

“ Sorry about that….anyway… it’s good to see that you are alright, I didn’t know that you were the one behind this side of the rebellion. The all time hero of reim! ” Lagi was trying his best not to sound like a fan boy, but he couldn’t help it. Octavius wasn’t dead, he was alive!

Octavius laughed at the enthusiasm of the king, even Sly laughing softly but understanding the joy and wonderment. Octavius held up a hand to quiet the king with a gentle smile.

“No, it was not Azix, though he is helping us now…we actually do not know who did it. Whoever brought me back did not heal me, though, so this entire time I have been regaining strength. I have heard many a story of you, King Lagi, though I regretfully did not get to see your fight. It is not yet time to let Kou know their plan to kill me failed.”

The laughter and observance of the other Fanalis lightened when they saw the king was of no harm to their precious General and they all went about their tasks.

“I have been working in secret with your father since I have gained enough strength to be of use to this rebellion. What kind of hero would I be, if I failed to get Kou out of Reim, right? He liked the idea of having an ace in the hole so my branch is a bit more hidden and a lot more suited to Fanalis tempers. I have heard great things about you from Roark, when we have the chance to meet up. He says you have done a lot of growing into your own and that you seem to have a genuine desire to help this country, despite how you got the throne.”

Octavius’ face turned to concern for a moment, waving Lagi over to the room he used as an office, leaning against his desk as he fixed a curious look to Lagi’s face.

“I have also heard about how you obtained the throne, Lagi el Nagi. The tales I have heard are scattered and twisted, but I will tell you what I was told. While I fought… and died… during the invasion, you were assisting Asisiak. You and she made it to the Palace and when you emerged, you were the new leader of the country. This tale tells me two things. First, you intended to help Reim, at least initially. Secondly, something happened in the Palace and you somehow became a puppet of Kou. I would like to know, in your own words, how this happened. Do not lie to me, I have had my fill of being lied to recently. I want only the truth and we shall go from there.”

His eyes were fixed on Lagi in an encouraging look. He knew anger was not the best way to get the truth, understanding was. So as much as he wanted to lash out at his Emperor being killed and replaced with this man, he truly wanted honesty from the boy Perhaps something had happened in the room that he could not account for or the boy had been forced between a bad and worse decision. It was hard to contain the Fanalis anger, but decades of practice helped him keep it in check as he waited for an answer.

“ You want the truth? There was a final showdown between me and Asisak and maybe a bit of her men, and Zou, along with Kou guards, Azix, and Garret. At the time, we were enemies. There was also a man named the contractor that was there, a powerful with questionable abilities. He separated me and Azix from the rest of the lot with his magic, deciding for some reason that our fight should decide it all. We now call Azix a comrade, but I fought with every intention to kill him. I was a black king candidate, but inexperienced with it. When I transformed, he denied the fact that power was what it was.. power. I sold my soul in order to have the power to protect my country and the emperor, and he just badmouthed me as a tool to be used and thrown away. I used the vessel to try and take out Aizx, the fight was at a standstill and I was running low on stamina. In short, I was losing. At this rate, I die and the emperor ‘s fate is sealed as well, as well as Reim’s”

Lagi swallowed hard, he knew he had to be sensitive. He had to tell the truth without lying. Even if he was withholding some information from the story, he would sound genuine as long as he didn’t lie.” So then the contractor grew bored of our fight, there was a scramble. He unleashed the bubbles holding everyone in containment separately to see what would happen next, probably for his entertainment. It didn’t matter, I made a rush to kill the man who organized all of this chaos upon Reim in a bloody rage, I killed one of the Emperor’s sons. It’s my fault, my first priority was supposed to protect the emperor of Reim, my reasoning was flawed. Though, the emperor of Reim had his guards. I thought everything would be over if I killed Zou and preventing him from leading. However, the cards were played against reim when Garret diplomatically convinced Asisiak that Kou would provide the help that she needed at a reasonable amount of time if she joined them. She was convinced, that’s a another king candidate against Reim at this rate, as well as the leader of the Immuchakk. The guards were unable to protect the emperor and he died. “

Lagi would then give his closing statement.” One son dies, with many to replace him. I can die and have Kou send another son to take the throne and bring this place to hell. Or I can lead, and preserve as much as I can until we can gather enough strength and independence to break away from their clutches. From what it looks like, I took the easy way out, but I was thinking of the long term. This rebellion happened without my knowledge of you even being alive, was trying to break Reim away from Kou. I risked my life to seek strength and polish my skills, alll in order to fight. The coliseum match wasnt meaningless......” He left out the detailed agreement of what happened exactly, Lagi made sure not to sell out Azix.

"That is all.... i'm sorry Octavius. "

Octavius listened to the words intently, going over the details in his mind. The boy seemed to be speaking the truth and the General was not surprised to hear Azix’ name brought up. The man had been very upfront about his initial involvement with Kou. Octavius smiled at Lagi when the King finished his tale, moving to rest a hand on the boy’s shoulder.

“Lagi, thank you for your honesty. I appreciate it. A man can only do so much and often, his mistakes weigh heavily on his mind. But I would like to lift some of that burden from you. I do not hold you responsible for the death of the Emperor. And soon, I hope to be able to ease your burden more, but for right now, the information is simply too sensitive to risk.”

Octavius gave Lagi a comforting pat, minding his strength with the human.

“Now, Sly tell me that at your coronation, you spoke of not only rebuilding the Fanalis Corp, but founding something new, something better. I believe he called it the Unity Corp. Tell me about this idea, I would much like to hear your thoughts on it.”

He would listen intently, a paternal look on his face.

Lagi

“The unity corps? I thought nobody was really listening when I talked about that, it didn’t seem like anyone cared. “ Lagi was a bit shocked that Octavius wanted to hear his idea, but he proceeded with it anyway. “ The unity corps was based off of the remnants of the fanalis corps, along with the addition to the fanalis corps of exceptional human beings like myself, Decimus, and other capable human beings of high talent, as well as Immuchakk. This was supposed to solidify the relation that we had with the Immuchakk, as well as having all three races co existing under one roof. It would have been considered as the destroyer of all racism, I wanted to accept the reality of uniting with each other as equals, working together. If such unification was possible, it would be a beacon to the world that world peace could exist. “

Lagi looked around the room. “ Fanalis, strong, brave, the stuff that heroes are made up of. To have an army of them is amazing, but it leads us to be predictable if they know what Fanalis are capable of. It’s like cooking or creating an addition to an already existing wine, sometimes we need to change the flavor for better results. Adding humans to the mix, you have jack of all trades who could practice all kinds of specializations, as well as serve as semi healers for when the fanalis get too excited in their fights and hurt themselves. The immuchakk, they rival you in strength. They too could practice magic, as well as standing as great warriors. We fill our gaps of weakness by having the most versatile unit in the world, and we start something in the process. The fall of the fanalis corps was unpleasant, but with those that remain, a unity began. Joining hands with another that is not of their kind, but you still remain as brothers and sisters nevertheless. A strong unity that precedes over the race barrier, making us stronger for it in the process. As well as promoting the possibilities of such a unity to be shared between countries. ”

Lagi was silent for a moment before he continued.” Did it seem like that much of a pipe dream? The fanalis corps is alive and well, I wonder if such a thing is needed anymore.

Octavius listened with interest about Lagi’s ideas for a Unity Corp, agreeing with the weaknesses the Fanalis Corp had and how it could be strengthened with the involvement of other races. He rubbed his chin in thought, scratching idly at his beard as he posed another variation on the idea.

“You are not wrong, young King. My Corp had their weaknesses for sure. But, keep in mind, the Fanalis Corp has a very public, very definitive role in Reim’s recent history. We are to be the defense against those that would invade from outside. The reason we failed last time is the enemy started on the inside.

I have a counter proposal. Why not have both. Have the Fanalis Corp, to continue doing what it does best, fighting at the front. Create a Unity Corp to be a much more specialized group of mixed races, using the advantages of each, to create a tight ring around the inside of Reim. Something designed to clean up what the Fanalis Corp cannot. Have the Unity Corp train on the inner workings of the city, monitoring suspicious activity from within and providing a defense, aside from the Reim military, to protect the higher ranking officials. While I am not a fan of elitism, if the leaders of a country are not protected, the country will crumble without guidance. Does this sound like it might have merit, King Lagi?”

He posed the idea with thoughts of the last fateful invasion. The Fanalis Corp had not expected such a heinous attack from within the walls of Remano and it had gotten them killed. With a Corp dedicated to internal monitoring, then the Fanalis Corp and the military could worry about the external issues without having to look over their shoulder.

Lagi

Having both?” Lagi never really thought of it that way. It would be a lot better if there was a corps that could take care of the matters that were a bit more direct. The power of the Fanalis would suit this fine, as well as the fact that Octavius was alive and well, which would support the future of the Fanalis corps. ”That’s a good idea, I agree with the notion that the Fanalis corps cold be made to handle the problems that Reim faces that are more direct. The more complex assignments could be handled by the unity corps. I’m sure that this would make a difference, protecting the higher ups. Nobody can focus on improving the country if their lives are always in danger. At least we can lessen the strain and provide that comfort, while the Fanalis corps does their thing. I guess the code-name would be "Big Brother", since there would technically be eyes everywhere to ensure that Reim isn't compromised.“

It seemed like a simple solution, but Lagi wondered when the time was right for such a thing. “ As a matter of fact I have another project in progress that you probably heard about, the manta. I’m pretty sure that they would be able to make a huge difference in travel and trade. Are you fond of flying Octavius? "

Octavius nodded at the comments about the Unity Corp, glad the King was on the same page as him. When Lagi brought up the Manta, however, he frowned.

“Honestly, I prefer my feet on the ground. And I have no expertise in trade or travel. Give me a sword and a target, that is my area. You want guidance on trade or travel, I suggest asking your father who to talk to. But, if you want advice on how to raise up a successful military group, I can help. Once this all settles down and we have our country back, I would like to explore the idea of the Unity Corp with you a bit further, if that would be alright?”

Octavius was eager to think about shoring up Reim’s defenses because it would mean they were successful in this rebellion. Nothing made him happier than to think of the Empire being its own, once more.

Lagi

That would be great if you could work on this with me, I would really appreciate the help Octavius.  With your support, people would be more inclined to listen to my idea if I had the backing of the legendary hero of Reim, as well as a few of the Fanalis. Well, I mean… besides the fact that I am king and have a few of my own fame to back me up. You know, sometimes I wonder if the Fanalis even like me? Or if it’s just a neutral feeling?” That was a bit of curiosity, but it was out of the way for now. “ I shouldn’t be holding you up Octavius, it seems that  we both have important things to do.  But you know you can count on me when the time comes. We can talk about the  unity corps when this is all over.”
